    GEOSATpro feature suggestion

Timer scanning would be very nice. It would also me nice to be able to select which satellites are scanned for a multi-satellite scan instead of "all". Jim

    History gone!

I also had issues with History this afternoon. My guess is the answer is in the name it scans in as: "TEST_...". This isn't a production signal that the hotel guest watch. They get the encrypted History Channel which isn't played with by the techies. I'm just glad I wasn't the only one with...

    tune-s2, my little linux app

update on yesterday's post: It's a "permissions" issue. A user is limited in what he can do to devices when running 'cron' or 'at' jobs. I was able to get things working when I became root. Jim

    tune-s2, my little linux app

Is it me or doesn't 'tune-s2' like to run via an 'at' or 'cron' job? All I get is exit status 255 when I use 'cron' and nothing shows up with "ps aux | egrep 'tune-s2'". The same command to run 'tune-s2' from the command line works like a champ. I'm confused (as usual). :) Jim

    Technotrend S2-1600's are now availalble.

They only compiled the modules for those cards/chipsets. It's supposed to be open source but they made things difficult with some of the tricks they added to their compiled java menu system. I'm waiting for xbmc to get live streaming working well enough to migrate. Jim

    6ft or 8ft

Go for the 10 foot dish and hold out for free with the wiring. I picked up one of those about 15 years ago with a friend of mine. It comes apart in quarters and is a two man job to take down and take apart. You'll want to take it apart because it'll become airborne if you don't AND it'll get...

    genpix skywalker linux setup help

I have a Genpix-Skywalker-CW3K that I'm trying to use for a second dvb adapter on my linux box. It's recognized by the kernel, the modules (dvb-usb and dvb_usb_gp8psk) are loaded, udev will act on it; however, I can't get dvr0, demux0, frontend0, or net0 to be created under adapter1. Does...

    looking for a spectrum analyzer/meter

Brian, I have a satlook super installer meter on the way. I'll let you know how it's working when I get a chance. It's supposed to have some new bells and whistles that should help with IP over DVB but I have to see it to believe it. Jim

    multi-tuner dvb-s2 cards

    looking for a spectrum analyzer/meter

Thanks for the compliment but I'm really not a knowledgeable technician. I'm more of a frustrated techno-math guy in the body of a systems engineer. <soapbox> You're exactly right in how technical training can be geared towards repeatable success. When I ran my flightline avionics repair...

    looking for a spectrum analyzer/meter

I talked to Brian this afternoon and got some great suggestions. Your Satlook, from what I've read so far, really stands out. I'm going to do some more research next week and hopefully have an idea of what I really want. How's things in K'zoo? I miss Michigan, having grown up there, and did...

    looking for a spectrum analyzer/meter

I'm looking for a spectrum analyzer that is under $800, can be purchased without paying the EU 17% VAT, provides info on QPSK & 8PSK signals that are DVB-S or DVB-S2, and a tv picture of the signal would also be nice. The Satlink WS-6912 looks promising but finding one in North America isn't...

    tune-s2, my little linux app

I thought DGII was a header and packet composition thing and not modulation. Then again, I try not to think that much because of the headache that results. :^) Also, is there a way to look for the satellite ID? If that could be added, this would be a bang up tool for setting those Diseqc...
