New Install yesterday and have questions

To be honest, it's not a big deal. I just thought it would have been included and would have been interesting to use. I imagine i would have to pay for it now, i would install it myself though. I have extra RG6 cable. All in all so far i'm very pleased and happy with the hopper. Have some...

New Install yesterday and have questions

So i guess i should have placed the joey at the main tv (ethernet access), the hopper in one of the bedrooms and not mentioned ethernet access in the basement.

New Install yesterday and have questions

Thanks for clearing that up guys. Have another question. Being that i have ethernet access at each hopper location but not at the joey locations, the installer said there was no need to install the HIC (I thought having a HIC connected to the system would have been better) and direct connected...

New Install yesterday and have questions

Ok, so thats normal? So... if i am watching 1 channel and record 2 other channels at the same time then PIP is not available? PIP is not a big concern to me anyway. Is there a way to disable PIP?

New Install yesterday and have questions

I had a 2h/3j installed yesterday software version 209/261 and really like the system, it's lightening fast! Puts my now former Directv HR22 receiver to shame. I am confused about the tuners. 1 hopper is installed at the main tv(living room) and has 1 joey(bedroom) linked to it, the other...

    Install happening right now

Finally made the jump from D* to Dish

Sounds like the newest update is starting to roll out. Just wondering if upcoming new installs will get it right away?

Finally made the jump from D* to Dish

Ok, then that means i can place the HIC in the family room where 1 of the hoppers will be going, thats where my router is. Now, just hope i get a installer that understands how to connect all this. Thanks everyone

Finally made the jump from D* to Dish

Couldn't stand the sluggish D* HR22 any longer. It took 2 1/2 minutes to change from channel 7 to channel 9 this morning (sitting there thinking wtf) that was the straw that broke the camels back. Called dish this afternoon. 2H/3J install is set for this coming Sunday in the AM. Customer...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

No! I called, this is what i was told. I'm NOT going to jump through hoops to beg Directv to keep me or beg for a better price. I know the person i talked to has their head up their a**, especially regarding the HR34 but that's Directv problem, they should make sure their CSR knows what they are...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

Just got off the phone with Directv she said i have been a very loyal customer and because of that i can upgrade to a whole home system. Keep my HR-22 and swap out my 4 sd boxes with 4 hd boxes. Asked her what model numbers, said she didn't know and that they don't have access to that info. She...

Holy CRAP I am glad I didn't fall for the Hopper!

Be prepared to pay through the nose for that HR-34. They're not going to give you a deal as a existing customer. I currently have a HR-22 (painfully sloooooow) and 4 basic sd boxes. I'm a 10 year customer, paid my bill ONTIME every month(bill was always paid online 4 days before due date). Want...

Ready to switch from Directv to Dish right now

Oh, i didn't know the hopper did that. Is it loud? If so i might have to consider putting the hopper on the basement tv and a joey in the master bedroom.

Ready to switch from Directv to Dish right now

Ok, thanks for the info and tips guys. Much appreciated. I will be placing a order today. Would it be better to deal with a local retailer or just place the order directly with Dish?

Ready to switch from Directv to Dish right now

I will be a new customer, coming from Directv and will place a order on 4/13 in the AM. I have 5 tvs, 4 hd 1 sd. The sd is very seldom watched, so am going to go with 2 hopper/ 3 joey setup. 1 RG6 cable is run at each tv location and i have ethernet access at the main tv location only. 1 hopper...

    Looking to upgrade

Yeah, thats really bad business. They should be kissing your *** to stay but instead they make you jump through hoops and the end result is, we don't care if you're a 17+ year customer, we made THOUSANDS of $ off of you but we're not going to give you anything in return for being a loyal...

    Looking to upgrade

Ok thanks. They will probably send out older hardware being that this would be a upgrade.

    Looking to upgrade

We have a total of 5 tvs, 4 hd and 1 sd. We have a HR-22 connected to our main hd tv, the other 4 are connected to D-11 boxes. We would like to upgrade to the whole home system but i am not sure which receivers to inquire about. I will keep the sd tv connected to the D-11 as that tv is not...
