Just trying to see how far I could push my setup lol Luckily I do have my Bev dish still kicking around in the basement from when I subscribed to the service ages ago, I never even took the bracket off the house lol I figured one day I might want to put it back up. My Bev dish only had a...

    Where Should The Circular Sit?

I ended up attacthing to the left with the DBS and the KU sitting almost perfectly side by side ( I didn't see this post before hand lol). It's working like a charm now, the analog isn't effected by the DBS at all and DBS signal is very strong. I used zip ties for now and if need be I'll...

    Where Should The Circular Sit?

I've been reading alot about people zip stripping or hose clamping a second lnb onto thier dish and I was planning to give it a go myself in the morning. I'm currently using a linear ku lnb which is mounted onto a 36 inch motorized dish. I want to add a circular lnb to my setup and I'm...

    trees and signal well almost

What are you trying tp pick up exactly (I should have asked earlier) are you looking specifically for 119 to pick up GOLTV or to use as a referance point? There isn't much on the Echo birds that won't ask you for a smartcard as far as I know.

    RS232 Question

Thanks for the quick reply and the info. I'll give it a go with a com cable and a gender changer and see how it works out. It always seems like I end up with so many cables collecting dust, I'd hate to end up with another lol Thanks again

    RS232 Question

I want to use gtools for my reciever now that I've scanned in alot of channels. Question is, I know the Fortec requires an RS232 straight through cable (here's the embarrassing part of the question for me) is that a standard com modem cable but with two female ends? If so will a gender changer...

    trees and signal well almost

Your dead on with that one. I just finished putting in another Dish 500 on the weekend, the signal was horrible but then one tiny little tweak and it shot straight up to 93 percent. I'm loosing my patience for hand aiming now that I'm motorized  I think I'm spoiled.

    trees and signal well almost

I hesitate to suggest this...but I will, you might try a siganl meter. You can pick one up at radio shack and other electronics stores. The only reason I hesitate is because personally I've never found them alot of use, but some people do claim they help.

    trees and signal well almost

I've installed alot of the smaller dss dishes that come standard when you buy a system for use with the major providers and they can often be hell to aim, especially where Dish 500 systems are concerned. Installing my first KU band FTA system I decided to see how quickly it picked up Echo 7...

    trees and signal well almost

I got this Gtools files from somewhere, I have no idea where but It lists most of the satellites up there and thier transponders. I hope it's okay that I attached it...if not I guess I'll find out the hard way :yes For 119 I believe you'll find 11 to be a good one when your aiming. As for...

    Saying Thanks

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who contributes to this forum and to PSB and Tron inparticular for the assistance in my KU setup. I put my motorized dish up on the weekend, found true south and had the signal up in no time. All in all the job (including setting the pole into the...

    True What Now?

Thnk you very much. I was pegging echo7 as my true south lol which is close but still off and as I understand it that can cause problems. My fortec has USALS I believe (it says so on the front panel anyway lol) and I think I get the general idea of magnetic deviation now thanks to the links...

    True What Now?

Hi guys. I've been reading here for awhile now, though I don't think I've ever posted a question. So here's my first lol I have a motorized dish with a KU lnb and a Fortec Lifetime Ultra reciever. I'm going to be installing it sometime in August and since I've done quite a few dish installs...
