    Fine Tuning Pointing

I'm seeing that most are saying that my signals are low. I would agree, except that on the two small displays (32"-40") connected to the two wally receivers, I don't ever have rain fade and the reception is clear with great color. I rarely get much over 55 signal. Again, I'll mention that the...

    Fine Tuning Pointing

So I have little control of adjusting transponder? Or should I use the dropdown to pick 11 or 21 as rvvaquero mentioned.

DISH Hacked - Websites are BACK ONLINE!

I just checked about 21:00CST and their web page was down.

    Fine Tuning Pointing

Thanks for the tip on putting slight pressure on the top of antenna. I'll try that upcoming weekend trip. The signals I get are what I get most often. I'm not sure of the quality of the coax run in the RV as there are two smallish displays on two Wally receivers. I did go behind the convenience...

    Does This Skew Seem Right

    Thanks Dutch. Got it:cool:

    Fine Tuning Pointing

So I've now done this at least a dozen times. It always seems somewhat irritating to get no or weak on bird 129. I've got the tripod level, mast plumb and backing plate of 1000.2 DPP perpendicular to the magnetic location. Small azimuth adjustments can get better signal on 129 with a sacrifice...

    Does This Skew Seem Right

Pretty strange. When I use the same lat, long and birds 110, 119, & 129 for multi-LNB, I get: skew 59.4, not 120.6. Subtracting that from 180 gets me 120.6

    Does This Skew Seem Right

Maybe that's the issue with my not getting signals on all 3 birds. I get crazy different skew numbers at different sources. Satellite Dish Pointer with Google Maps | Satcom Resources gives: Site Latitude : 29.95 Site Longitude : -99.08 Satellite Orbital Slot: 119W Antenna True Azimith: 215.995...

    Does This Skew Seem Right

I'm using DishPointer - Align your satellite dish for settings and am getting a skew of 59.4. Location is 29.9579N, -99.0788 for sats 110, 119, &129. Using a manual 1000.2 with the DPP 3 head LNB.

    Wrong LNB?

Never mind Emily. Finally got a non-foreigner in support at Dish Network. Made life better.

    Wrong LNB?

Just wondering on the new Wally receivers if it will do a check switch without a signal from a satellite. When I go to the signal test at the top of the check installation screen, tuner is 0 and I cannot select a satellite. It does identify the DPP switch. So far only red Xs in the failed check...

    Solar Storm

"1859 Carrington Event" Did you have Dish then. I witnessed both the aurora in Trinity, Texas on March 13, 1989 and one out near McDonald Observatory on October 29, 2003. I think this new solar cycle is heading up to be big. Make sure to sign up for aurora alerts. When my Dish gets crazy...

    Skew at Dish

Dang! Thanks Dutch. I had not scrolled down to the bottom when adding the lat, long and was just seeing the pop-up. The Skew is indeed at the bottom below the map - 124.1. I'm old and my eyes and brain are failing/... Or just call me Dingbat! We are planning several camping trips and I'll be...

Thank you. Have it on order. LNB tomorrow. Yoke by Sunday. Anyone need a new Hybrid? LOL

    Skew at Dish

Using this page: DishPointer - Align your satellite dish And the Multi-LNB Dish 1000.2 (110W, 119W, 129W and searching my lat, long to get Satellite: Dish 1000.2 (110W, 119W, 129W) Elevation: 46.2° Azimuth (true): 220.5° Azimuth (magn.): 218.4° No Skew? Using my zip code at...

    Wrong LNB?

I do recall that the LNB on the previous antenna which I sold with the RV was the DPP as I just pulled it up at AMZN. Other than learning the intricacies of pointing, I had few issues. Also, the previous Wally could easily be put into the correct mode to point.

    Skew at Dish

Not the same issue. Just wondering why one of the recommended pages to get pointing data on this forum does not indicate skew.

    Wrong LNB?

Odd is the el cheapo Wingard signal meter mostly pegs until I bring the attenuation very high to get it to mid signal. Also signal does not change when changing azimuth.

    Skew at Dish

How do I find the skew at DishPointer - Align your satellite dish When I use it I get 46.2 EL, 218.4 mag az If I use their zip code lookup, I get 124 skew, 215 az, & 45 el

    Wrong LNB?

I thought I had this figured out on our last RV. Got a new pair of Wally receivers, some dual coax and a new Dish Network 1000.2. Cannot seem to get a signal at the first receiver I'm checking. RG6 checks good from point to point. Correct Skew, Alt, & Azi. Odd thing is I'm seeing the Wally...

    Why No Signal

You guys are great. I do carry extra coax in 25' coils but have never had to use it. The only other place I could have possible gotten a clean line to the birds was on asphalt in front of my truck or as you mentioned well back of the site. Problem there is it is an asphalt access road to the...

    Why No Signal

Dutch, that's an interesting thought. From this campsite in central Texas there would have been no hope on seeing those birds.

    Why No Signal

Nope. Western arc. When pointed correctly gives just over 50 signal strength on 110, 119, & 129 and great HD pix on both of the RV displays. I think my disturbing issue at Canyon of the Eagles was that the arc was always right at the edge of or obscured by tree branches.

    Why No Signal

Thank you Dutch. That should help. It has also helped to view the phone app (Dish Pointer Pro) while on my knees (same level as the center of the reflector) to make sure the "line" of birds does in reality clear the trees:confused:

    Why No Signal

Sure would be nice if these antenna/reflectors came with some pointer to visually sight down a line while standing behind the dish.
