My local CBS will no longer be on Dish

My thoughts exactly. A textbook example of how not to run a tv station. Getting rid of a long time, well respected sportscaster, the resignation of the general manager, and the retirement of a weather announcer that's been with the station for most of it's 50+ year history. The question is if...

There is a new proposed bill that would allow you get next door TV markets on Directv

I live 15 miles as the crow flies from the line that seperates the St. Louis markets and the Columbia/Jefferson city market. In my case, I'm in the Columbia DMA. I'd love to get the St. Louis stations from satellite. I feel strongly enough about this that I already e-mailed my congressman, but...

    Finally have my DVR's installed

Brewer4, I think I might just do that. Gives me some experience on doing the manual record. So far, I'm not disapointed in it at all. I'm still learning the ropes, so to speak. I might even join in on the chat. I have Saturday off, so I can stay up later tomorrow night. :)

    Directv All Acess

I read something interesting that makes one think (link below). Isn't one of the main reasons people stay with cable is because of the mirror fees both E* and D* charge? Maybe if this new package will come about, the stratagy by D* makes sense. Link:Cable companies to up set-top box rates -...

    New HR20

It should come with the new white interface. I had mine installed last night and that's what interface it has. Also, yes, I believe it will download the newest software when it's activated.

    Finally have my DVR's installed

In an earlier thread, I was debating on whether to get an R15 DVR or not. Thanks to the encouragement of Brewer4 and others, I decided to get both the R15 and the HR20, and obtained them for just the full price of the R-15 plus shipping/handling. :) I had scheduled my appointment with the...

Trying to decide if I should get an R-15

LOL. I think I will. I just need to call D* and ask if I can use the same installer that installed my present setup or if it has to be one of their people that do it.

Trying to decide if I should get an R-15

Just wanted to follow up on this thread. I did contact D* by email and after a couple of days of phone tag, I feel I've gotten the best deal I could possibly get. The deal I was offered was that if I paid the regular price for the R15, they would give me an HR20 for $19.95 shipping and handling...

New Customer - any free HD-DVR deals?

How long you've been a customer helps Vedhead, just curious how long you've been with D*. Based on my personal experience, that helps. Add that to the fact the more you subscribe to, the better chance you have for a good deal on the HD-DVR

Trying to decide if I should get an R-15

I've never heard of the HR21. What's going to be different about this model as compared to the HR20?

Trying to decide if I should get an R-15

I will call D* in the next couple of days and see what I can do. I will let everyone know what comes out of it. You all have given me some food for thought.

Trying to decide if I should get an R-15

I was thinking the same thing, Brewer. I was thinking about going all out and getting the premier package and waiting a few months to try my luck then for the HR20. For right now, I might just give that R15 a try. Thanks

Trying to decide if I should get an R-15

Brewer and Jimbos You made some good points. I do have HD and using an H20 for my HDTV. I also have 2 other televisions, both using the standard D* receiver. Eventually, I would like to get the HR20 for the HDTV but cost is the primary factor that is holding me back. I can get a discounted...

Trying to decide if I should get an R-15

I found out recently that I qualify for a free upgrade to the R-15 DVR. If I get it, I'll replace one of the standard receivers that I have with this unit. I've read some of the comments about the R-15 on this and other sites and have a couple of questions. 1) Is the response time for the...

    Question about moving a television

LOL. Cuervo sounds like a good idea. I live in a town between St. Louis and Columbia, MO. I'm just moving across town to a bigger house. Something that has been long overdue.

    Question about moving a television

Sounds like except for the mirrors, common sense stuff. Sounds like I'll need either an appliance dolly or a 4 wheel dolly.

    Question about moving a television

I'll be moving this Friday across town. I have a Panasonic PT-51HX42 Rear Projection television. What is the best way to move this television? Should I wrap it in blankets and sit it on top of some corrugated cardboard(with the tv tied down of course)? Also, I'm wondering how should I haul it...

I have a question about multiple receivers

I did forget about the HD fee. I figured with that, the cost is comparable. It's just going to be a personal preference on what I think is best.

I have a question about multiple receivers

I currently have E* and seriously thinking of moving to a different location(same town, just different house). I'm considering switching to D* at the new location. I probably will have a HD receiver and 2 standard receivers. My question is that does D* charge a fee for each extra receiver? Thanks

has anyone switched from cable to dish and been happy they did?

I switched from US Cable to Dish in December of 2002 and the only thing I regret is that I didn't do it sooner. For years, I and several others had problems with the PQ on the local channels(St. Louis) and their explanation is the interference from the power lines coming into town was affecting...
