Well I already asked this question and got positive response from some folks: Should I go forward with my install or should I cancel, be patient, and wait to get the mpeg4 (even without DVR)?

I'm in LA. Now I'm a little more confident that I'll actually get the locals! Some of the CSRs couldn't tell me one way or the other.

My understanding is that the markets that are now offering locals in HD are doing so with mpeg 2. I am scheduled for an install on a HD DVR (mpeg2) next week and I have been told several times that I would be able to pick up the 4 locals offered in HD with my HD DVR unit.

I have been told by numerous D* CSRs that equipment would be upgraded. Most said upgrades would be free and one said there might be a small fee. They all told me D* track record has always been to upgrade equipment. I am scheduled for HD DVR install on Nov 11 and now you have me thinking again!!!

Does D* DVR install include dual feed to the DVR or is that extra?

Question regarding future mpeg 4 upgrade: Are future upgrades going to include HD DVRs as well as basic HD receivers (as best we know)? I am hoping I won't have to buy a new HD DVR in 18 months.
