    Random Reboots (ViP 622)

My elderly mom is happy with her 622. She really doesn't want to upgrade because she doesn't like to learn new things. However, lately it's been randomly rebooting. I'm going to try using an alternate power outlet for a while to see if it resolves it, but I suspect that's not the issue. It's...

NFL Network and DISH reach new multi-year carriage agreement

I'm talking about this coming Thursday (September 17). The Thursday night game, Cincinnati v Cleveland, does not appear to be simulcast on NBC.

NFL Network and DISH reach new multi-year carriage agreement

I figured the complaints would trail in when customers weren't able to see Thursday Night Football.

I assumed this would be dragged out until Thursday afternoon.

Keep Getting Message That OTA Tuner Was Disconnected

Thanks for that feedback. Good to know I'm not the only one.

Keep Getting Message That OTA Tuner Was Disconnected

All day today, while my wife has been watching satellite broadcast channels, there have been periodic blank screens. It happens maybe every 30 min or so. Lasts only a couple seconds. Then the channel banner comes on and the broadcast soon follows. Minor nuisance only. All sat signal...

Unsolicited Remote Being Shipped to Me

Then might I suggest DISH make one small modification to this process: give the customer a heads-up before shipping, and give the customer the option of accepting or rejecting the offer. Otherwise, this just seems wasteful.

Unsolicited Remote Being Shipped to Me

What? Am I supposed to be happy to receive a product when there's absolutely nothing wrong with the one I have? I would imagine several of us have somewhat complex setups in which introducing a new proprietary remote would be unwelcomed.

Unsolicited Remote Being Shipped to Me

I just received this email. Apparently DISH is shipping me a 54.1 remote. Why are they doing this? I didn't ask for it. I don't want it. My Harmony remote does everything I want a remote to do. Are they going to jack with the software thereby disabling the legacy remote's function? I guess...

I've been away from the forums for quite some time. Claude, what happened? I don't remember you being like this before.

Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

I considered it, but I've never had a need for it before, so as it is, the only reason I'd need it is for Locast. As it is, I'm paying Locast $5.50 per month. I'm not paying more while these asshats duke it out. My hope is that this doesn't go on for much longer. Otherwise, if I invest any...

Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

FYI, The Locast app is working out pretty well playing directly from my SHIELD TV. I had to initially submit a ticket to get them to allow me to see my DMA. It took them about 3 days to respond to the ticket, and then it was fixed quickly along with an email explaining it was done. (In that...

So, I guess this didn't turn out to be true:

Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

From my simplistic, ignorant perspective, I would condense that down to preventing vendors from removing a product for which the consumer is currently or expected to pay. The contract and terms of use probably account for this and thus protect the vendor amidst the current circumstances, but I...

Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

Yes, Tyler has a DMA and I am geographically much closer, but I am still in the DFW DMA. DISH knows this and serves me DFW locals (when they aren't in dispute). Atop my 50' tower, I actually have 2 antennae with one pointing East and one pointing North. When the antennae weren't being torn...

And for the record, I'm actually not one of those people. I am in the DFW DMA.

Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

I never got a response from Locast regarding the incorrect location on my SHIELD TV (Android box), but I was able to get it to work by going to the Locast site on an infrequently used PC on my network and "casting" it to my SHIELD. It's not flawless because about every hour I have to refresh...

They specifically indicate they determine it off of geolocation, so if location services aren't turned on, it won't work. Even if it is based off my ISP, when they ask you to submit the ticket, they ask for your ZIP, presumably as an alternative. I assume, at that point, they modify the user's...

Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

Yeah, I don't have VPN setup, but you shouldn't need it with Locast. I'm physically in the DFW DMA. Even DISH knows it. However, the geolocation of Locast doesn't think so. On their site, they acknowledge that's sometimes an issue and they encourage the user to submit a ticket and they'll...

Well, not all of us. Competition is usually good. As a customer, I just want my channel back.

Anyone care to venture a guess as to how long this stand-off will last?

Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

It means my theory didn't pan out. The channel in question is UHF. If you get your other channels, there's almost zero chance that they're all VHF and you have a VHF-only antenna. http://www.tvfool.com might help you.
