    Splitting Cable Internet

This is just the reality of how it is built as we discuss it. To help the OP we need to relate things to the present. Going forward I can agree with you on some things but that is yet to be. What the future will bring we will have to wait and see.

    Splitting Cable Internet

NO. At this time most cable systems are below 1Ghz and typically to out at about 870mhz. To go above that 1Ghz frequency it will take a fairly significant modification to the entire cable plant from the head end to your home, most passive devices in line at this time are only rated to 1Ghz.

    Splitting Cable Internet

You are pushing your cable modem somewhere near its limit, your upstream reads 54dbmv, in actuallity the modem can do a little more but the reading won't go above 54. So again everytime you add a device (amp, larger splitter etc) you are asking your modem to work harder, so being near the edge...

    Splitting Cable Internet

To the OP from the readings that you gave for the modem when you got it to work, your issue is the return your modem is about maxed at at 54dbmv (yes you are locked) but when you add a larger splitter or an amp that does not amplify the return signal needs to work harder to overcome the...

    Splitting Cable Internet

Do you still have the old amp? If so you could try putting it back in line and trying the modem test. The new one while boosting the forward (D/S) signal strength is also lowering the Return (U/S) signal that the modem needs to send info back to the CMTS. You need an amp that has either an...

    Splitting Cable Internet

To the OP getting tech support is a good idea but if you want to try something yourself I would do the following. Put the 2 way back in line and if your modem is working okay type in 192.168.100.1 into your browser you should get the diagnostic screen for the modem. Look for the UP and...

    Splitting Cable Internet

I don't know what type of Cable boxes the OP has but keep in mind that most are bi-directional this is what allows you to have Video on Demand or PPV items. Today most cable systems are below 900mhz and I truly don't expect them to go much higher.

    Splitting Cable Internet

As stated I would take the feed into your house and use a 2 way splitter and use one leg to feed the cable modem and the other for all else. A higher frequency rated splitter is not needed. The problem you are seeing is most likely due to the Upstream levels needed to complete the 2 way...

    119/110/61.5/72.7...Possible?

I have 2 211k's so I know I am okay with the MPEG 4 sources. But I do watch PBS and some of the local stations not offered in HD. OTA is spotty for me so I was using Dish for my locals.

    119/110/61.5/72.7...Possible?

Located in SE Pennsylvania, at present I have 110/119 and 61.5. After sifting through this and a few other forum questions, can I conclude that if I install a dish 1000.4 (replace the 61.5) and feed the 110 into the open port that I will have all of my present channels and the New HD. (I...

Is Verizon Losing Money on FIOS?

This is typical for many services they are set up to take an initial loss. They will make money over time. This is why they need to lock you in for a period and charge you a fee if you break the contract, it is the same for cell phones.

combining satellite and OTA signal in a single coax

If the frequencies don't overlap you can use 2 diplex filters. I would make sure the OTA side diplex filter has DC blocking or you can purchase them after the fact. The diplex filter has 2 inputs and 2 outputs. If you need it.
