New mpg4 dish channels in HDLITE!

This is so wrong. OTA HD puts this stuff to shame and is a great example of what HD could look like. If network programming wasn't so bad it would be a great alternative for the Lite-crap Dish is feeding us. The sad part is that this supposed HD does not even look as good as a well produced DVD...

How much variation do you see in PQ from channel to channel??

All HD definitely is not equal, though I'm shocked that you think Equator looks good. To me that channel usually looks like very good SD, a far cry from even DVD, let alone True HD. To me all the Voom stuff looks that way now. A pity really, since I remember what it used to look like when Voom...

    Thanks, SatelliteGuys!

Do you think I could call this number when I want to activate the 622 I just recieved from dishstore.net? I dread having to play csr roulette when I get his thing hooked up...

    622 install help needed.

Install help part 2 OK, After checking out the Voom dish, I found that it has a rectangular tube on it that LOOKS like it should accept a dish 500 I adapter, which would allow me to put a Dish pro dual lnb on it. Can anyone confirm that this will work?

    622 install help needed.

Having switched over from Voom, when they went belly up, I have a pretty old setup, including original Voom dish for 61.5 plus a Dish 500 with legacy LNBs for 100/119. These run into an SW21. My Locals are OTA with a separate run (which I want to keep that way). I'm in Florida so rain fade is...

Guide info gets hosed up in my 811

"Most" of the time a soft reset will fix it on my 811. Hold the power button on the 811 down until it reboots. Just pressing it momentarily to turn it off will NOT work, this just turns it off and on, you need to actually reboot the software by holding the button (about 3 seconds). What a PoS...

    Metal Package Rquired?

Wow, with tax and fees that will be about $38 which is $17 more than I pay now. For the 2 extra channels I will actually watch, Filmfest and World cinema, it hardly seems worth it. :(

    Metal Package Rquired?

I am purchasing it thru the Dishstore and will keep my old HD pack. What I want to know, is will I recieve ALL the HD with the old HD pack or are the new channels only available with a Metal Package.

    Metal Package Rquired?

I have a 622 on pre-order thru DSN and currently only have the basic HD package plus Voom. Will I be able to get the new HD channels with this package and a 622, or will I need to upgrade to a Metal Package? I really don't watch much TV and have trouble justifying an extra $30 a month when I...

I Really Enjoy Watching the VOOM Kung Fu Channel

There are almost no Hong Kong style stuff avaiable that actually has subtitles available. The only ones I can think of are the Jet Li "Once upon a time in China" and the "Chinese Ghost Story". It seems like they MUST be avaiable in China, but those versions stay there I guess.

I Really Enjoy Watching the VOOM Kung Fu Channel

I agree completely with the comments about subtitles. I have never seen a dubbed version that I prefer to the original, though there are a few Criterion releases that have very well done dub tracks. Personally I no longer even notice that I'm reading subtitles. I've been watching alot more...

I Really Enjoy Watching the VOOM Kung Fu Channel

Onibaba is awesome flick. If you liked it, check out some of the other Japanese films like Rashomon, Ran, Throne of Blood, Zatoichi, The Hidden Fortress (which was actually George Lucas inspiration for Star Wars). These Japanese flicks are amazing examples of the art of filmmaking, a totally...

    Cool! MOOV on Gallery!

I used to do my morning exercises in front of Moov. Now I'm stuck watching the fish on the demo channel instead.

So where is the GuyTV movie content now?

As it is I don't think that Fu is the problem as much as the ratio of movie channels to specialty channels. When there were 21 vooms we had plenty of movie options. Now with 15 (or worse, 10) that ratio of movie to non-movie content is much lower. Personally I love the Japanese stuff (Samuri...

Anyone know the time line for mpeg4 "taking over" for mpeg2?

Yes, I currently have no contract, own my 811, and recieve only HD with no other packages. Damn. I guess I'll be hooking up the old Voom box again if they don't change thier tune.

Anyone know the time line for mpeg4 "taking over" for mpeg2?

I curious, what will happen then if I have not upgraded? The new HD Channels don't impress me, at least not enough to consider upgrading and giving up my HD only package, which I would need to do unless I buy my receiver outright. Will they really turn off service to anyone that won't pay them...

FTC response to Dish HDlite complaint

FTC response to Dish HDlite complaint

Following GoalieBobs lead with his stop HDlite campaign, I filed a complaint with the FTC using the form linked thru his website. Here is the FTC's response And here is the attachment with thier response: If they get enough of these type complaints, maybe they will actually do...

NEW DishHD web site found! (And now it's gone)

Although they do refer to it as "true HD", whatever that means.

What HD channel would you get rid of if you had to?

Man, you guys are missing some great movies on Fu. Granted the Hong Kong type stuff is horrible, but they are also showing some tremendous Japanese classics. Stuff like Ran, Rashomon, Onibaba, the Zatoichi flicks. If espnHD dissappeared I would not even notice it.

Since ESPN is behind most of the rate increases

I watch MOVIES and no sports or regular network crap. The less sports I have to pay for , the better.
