Dish / Gannett Dispute Settled! No Channel Removals!

A couple of questions: Is this threat to drop locals just an eastern-half-of-the-nation issue? I am seeing no messages about this on the west coast. If you compare the auto-hop to regular DVR use, is it really that much difference in how many commercials the average user will see? Half of my...

    learning the remote colored buttons

mdavej, thanks for the info. I managed to program the codes I wanted into my universal from the comcast. Halo, I think your advice made the most sense, had I thought it over a little more. I was looking for the cheapest way to breath new life into my universal, but I would have gotten another...

    Seek & Record question

Weird... no way to edit the timer. I went in and made the same search, and created a second timer identical to the first except for "new and reruns". Did not see it in the list. I then deleted the timer that was "new only". Voila - the timer that I just created showed up.

    learning the remote colored buttons

I was looking online for a cheap remote that would fill the bill. Still can't find my old cable remote, which I think might be around somewhere. If you see one for <$10 on ebay that would work I would be interested. I hate to retire my universal so it would be worth getting a cheap remote for...

    2 Hoppers and 1 Joey

I had my 2 hoppers/1 joey system installed a few weeks ago. The installer mentioned that the way he had to do that was to set up a 2 hopper/2 joey system (which is what was delivered), and then uninstall one of the joeys. It was a non-problem, you just need to go through that extra hurdle to...

    Seek & Record question

So I want to record an old movie (1990) when it comes into the guide (not pay-on-demand). From "search" I set up a seek & record timer for its name. It asks whether to record "new only" or "new and reruns". What would an old movie be, should I set up "new only"? Thanks

    Skip ahead 1 day

On my 622, in the guide, if I wanted to skip ahead 1 day, I just hit the "skip ahead" button. On the hopper, it goes ahead several hours. Is there a different button or option for this? Thanks, Jeff

PC related problems - started when hopper system was installed

Since the hopper system was installed last week, both my wife’s and my own PCs have had two strange problems. Unfortunately, we installed a new HP network printer at the same time, so that is making it harder to isolate the problem. I completely uninstalled the printer drivers, software, etc...

mdavej, can you elaborate? Is there a particular button on those remotes that produces the right codes?

    Auto Hop

Sunday's CBS for me still has no auto-hop. Is there a trick to get it? I tried rewinding to the beginning of all of the shows, but no joy.

    Can't find "resume" DVR function

Well, the functionality that I was looking for works when the event has finished recording, and I start to view it on the hopper that it wasn't recorded on. If I am watching it on that other hopper, and then pause and go to the hopper that recorded it, I can go into the DVR list, and if I hit...

just what limit is there for timers?

How far into the future do timers go? I have the Today Show set up to record 5 days a week, keeping only 1 episode (so it deletes each one as it goes along), into the indefinite future. So it uses up how many days against my 576 limit?

just what limit is there for timers?

Thanks Does a 1-time timer get eliminated after its time has passed, and is therefore deleted from the count?

    learning the remote colored buttons

URC-200 Automator, it has no PC connection for editing codes. I am not aware that there is a way to enter in codes (aside from the code for an entire remote) - I have always just learned them.

just what limit is there for timers?

I keep hearing that there are limited resources for timers. Just how many timers can you set up per hopper? I imagine this might be a complicated question, if there are many scenarios for the timers. Just looking for whether I will need to discourage the family from being indiscriminate with...

    learning the remote colored buttons

I am using a learning remote and trying to teach it the red-green-yellow-blue buttons from the hopper remote, but they are not taking. Are these UHF-only buttons?

    Can't find "resume" DVR function

That works from/to hopper and linked joey. It doesn't seem to work between hoppers. I can live with that, I suppose. Dish, if you're listening... It would be nice to be able to do this across hoppers.

That was too easy, sparc! I wish I had asked you before I spent an hour trying to do it the other way! Thanks

    Can't find "resume" DVR function

Kruznby, can you detail how to do that? If I go from one hopper to another, I go into "DVR" and switch to the hopper that is actively recording (that I paused viewing on the other TV), press the red button, and I can see that the tuner is actively recording the event, but if I try to select it...

trouble with punch-through programming of 40.0 remote

I have gotten a code to work for my audio receiver, it can power off/on, volume up/down, and mute in aux mode. I also have my TV code programmed in, and it works. I have been trying to program in the punch-through feature, where in the "SAT" mode you can have the volume and mute buttons on the...

    Can't find "resume" DVR function

That doesn't seem to work either. If anyone has gotten "resume" to work, please chime in. I am mainly trying to find a way that I can pause a show that I am DVR-recording and watching on one hopper, and then resume from that same spot somewhere else in the hopper-joey system.

    Can't find "resume" DVR function

It's nice to have access to the DVR event from any TV, but pausing the live feed (and allow the show to continue to record) and be able to pick up where you left off elsewhere seems like such an obviously useful feature, I am having trouble imagining that it isn't available.

    Can't find "resume" DVR function

Just got a 2 hopper / 1 joey system installed. Coming from a 622 system. First question: How do I pause a channel being actively recorded, switch to something else, and then switch back and resume where I left off? I only see choices to watch from the beginning or go live. Second, related...
