Oh the other thing I miss is the skip forward button on my Dish remotes. The FF is annoying and takes forever, the page UP button skips too far ahead so I have to skip back about 7 times or so. Am I missing another way to skip forward?

Me too. I think the X1's UI and features are fantastic. I thought the voice search would be a waste but I use it all the time. I also subscribed to their Home security system which I also think is great.

Thanks Bruce, I'll see if I can change how I view some of my shows, but it seems whenever I use VOD there are commercials that I can't skip over. I thought they were going to have "Cloud Recording" so you don't even need to have local recordings? Maybe that was another cable company.

We will be moving next year to a development that doesn't allow sat dishes so I will be switching to Comcast. The house is being built so I can have it wired to accommodate whatever is needed for cable. We will have at most 6 TV's one of which is a home theater, with 3 of us living in the home...

I have a DPP44 switch, 1000.4 dish, looking at 61.5/72 & 77 sats. It's definitely my locals that keep dropping out but also a few other channels like CNBC.

I think hers is an iPad2, it definitely has a 30pin connector. It may actually be easiest and cheapest to just buy her an inexpensive Android tablet dedicated just to the TV. In general I wish they made it easier to stream the programming we pay for to a TV. I do understand their reluctance...
