    Plasma 852*480 vs Plasma 1024*768

The installer tried to sell you that svideo, was equal to real ED even is crazy in my book. The source has a lot to do with all this, 1080i converted to ED for display is quite good. Should be better than DVD as there is more / better information being displayed. DVD really is only 480i...

    LCD Question

DLP the superior technology??? I think not. I have yet to see a DLP RPTV match the newest versions of the Sony LCD RPTV. But thats just me. The new Sony's allow you to go way off axis too, a big improvement over previous generation. Then again, I am a rainbow see'r and man does it...

    Plasma 852*480 vs Plasma 1024*768

852x480 is ED, it will display HD content but convert it to ED....

    NEC display cutting off image

Like you think your overscan is way to much or something? Image to large for screen? Like in the vertical? Not sure, sounds like a service call for some tweeking of the settings that control this sort of thing. A little hard to grasp the "too large for the screen description though"

    The truth about cables

For installations, knowing how people have a cow over the price of "good" cables. I use GE brand available at CC. (Look for them hard, they like to hide them and display Monster al over the place) Inexpensive, but not to much so. They seem of decent quality, I've used them a lot.

    DVI to Component Adaptors

The larger the screen the MORE notice-able the improvement is in my opinion. While there is an improvement, great 480p performance is way way good in and of itself.

    Novice question / grounding?

Thanks.. Seemed pretty clear cut to me. I cannot imagine an outside ant. of any kind not being properly earth grounded. I mean nobody wants millions of volts inside their house at full power, unless your building Frankenstien. lol

    Novice question / grounding?

I'm a novice, but have seen some debate over this... Do you ground the dish itself? Or just ground the coax once inside the structure / house? Thanks in advance, John S.

    DVI to Component Adaptors

Of you have a 4:3 CRT RPTV set, that only offers a native widescreen mode on 1080i, the Zenith DVB-318 is the ticket. But only with March2004 builds and before. HDCP actually is implemented on sebsequent builds on this player.

    More Tower Delays in Denver.

Very disheartening news..... I guess, I'll be repositioning my antenna for individual station reliability a bit longer. UUHHGGG

    Very Strange Signal Strenght Issue....HELP!

You can only try repositioning your antenna again. Often times, even the wind can blow something in the way periodically on this sort of issue.

Notice compression on my 720P locals

I'd say here in the Denver area, I would switch that around. ABC, I tend to see either compression and/or upconverting artifacts, and FOX seems very clear and the better picture.

    LCD TV--Good?? Bad??

Dang, I never knew that.... I just last year went and bought tons of LCD moitors for all our workstations at our company. Say it isn't so!!!

OTA image quality better than DirectTV

This directly relates to the bandwidth thread on here..... If your OTA providers start running sub feeds on the same channel, it will also degrade.

    changing aspect ratio

The service menu is a semi secret menu, that has a trick to get into. It is where techs will do professional calibrations, If a manufacture finds out the owner / user was in there, they can void your warranty. Do a search on your model, with service menu after it, and I'll bet you find...

    changing aspect ratio

One last option, many HDTV's that were 4:3 and no native widescreen mode, were able to change to 16:9 by tweaking the venerable service menu. Just another thought on it is all.

    HD-DVD Player - Upconverting

Beware, players like the LG/Zenith DVB-318 and Momitsu, have reall taken a bashing from the film industry. Component upscale is short lived, and generally has disappeared for HDCP DVD's with the most current firmware releases. I am still under the impression, that some adapter should...

    changing aspect ratio

4:3 sets without a native widescreen mode. I can agree rhasselbaum. 4:3 with a native widescreen mode, It still a good solution with all the 4:3 material still about.

    Samsung DLP Component vs. HDMI/DVI

I would expect some difference.. Even for better of for worse... The best would be when DVI is sending 720p directly to your particular display. No other resolutions will give you the less converted signal you know.

dang, no native 16:9 mode on your display huh? That would be a major drag.

    Deals on a Sony HDTV

I tend to concure, I finally got to see one of those 60" Sony LCD RPTV's in action. First LCD to truly impress me, and I was way impressed for sure. Big bucko's though. I would not infer a general picture qulaity of CRT RPTV from the RCA though, I have never favored those in the CRT RPTV...

    Lcd Or Tube

Just make sure you get to demo and LCD set. All technologies have their pros and cons. I still like the big balky HDTV CRT RPTV's best of all the really big set technologies. So preference can go a long way for you to decide for sure.
