I was just reading an earlier thread about this (a couple of pages back) ... I guess the consensus is just get a dumb TV and get a client since you'll end up renewing contract anyway plus the rvu software is updated by the manufacturer and not directv.

Wow, almost a year since I posted this. I'm curious if anyone's gotten the wireless client and video bridge through retention or even new subs. Might as well give them a try if I will renew my contract.

I've been noticing over the last few weeks that the genie receiver would intermittently freeze when bringing up the guide but the video is still playing in the small window. The delay lasts for 15 or so seconds then the guide will come up. This same behavior happens when skipping forward on...

Ouch, that kinda blows that my 24-month counter resets even if I don't get the client from Directv directly. I guess I'll wait out the other 12 months and see where it goes when it's month to month time.

Yeah, have the Genie and 2 clients. If I get a C41/31 from outside of Directv, does that extend my contract for another 24 months?

I think with a little guidance and/or an instruction sheet I can install this myself. Is this available from any of the vendors yet? My objective is to add a small TV to one area of the house. I'm trying not to run coax but can possibly do ethernet if there's a way to use it with a C31/41.

Oooh this is interesting, I can move around a TV with no worries about coax! I hope it's not a wallet killer though.

Just experienced this tonight while watching a movie on Showtime. It did it twice, both times I had to press a button to cancel the screensaver.

Almost a month now and I'm still happy with the switch! Everyone gets to watch their shows, I record what I want to and so far noone's complained yet. Liking this 5 tuner deal, big step up from the 622.

I preferred the native because I don't like the look of stretched programming. 480 resolution looks really obvious, for me anyway, just by looking at the guide.

There is the slingbox. They were made to work with different video sources before Dish acquired them. Check out the slingbox solo reviews on amazon, sort it by new reviews. You might want to look at the HD version also if you prefer that.

I'm not sure if my nephew has something to do with this. He likes using the original Directv remote while I have the Harmony (I don't have Format button mapped on it). I had all the resolutions checked also and have Native set to On when I posted my question. I since removed the 480i/p and left...

Before you pay the penalty, maybe try a slingbox solo (cheaper than the penalty). Regarding the skip, another member told me to search for "30skip" as keyword. It changes the ff behavior.

You can schedule shows via the computer or smartphone app with directv but I have not seen the same control I had with the dish dvrs where you can see what's recorded, start new recordings etc. Yes, the guide is kind of "short". I got over it though but deep down I still wish I can see more...

Just recently switched from dish. Came from a single 622 to a genie and 2 c31 clients. Bill is almost the same spread out in 24 months. Just received the costco card also in approximately 3 weeks after install. The only real difference is the way the dvr works, dish's setup is a little bit more...

What causes this? I change it back to 1080i when I notice it, a day or so later it's back to 480 again.

I've always wondered about that, it would make it so much easier for all involved.
