Actually TNT looked especially bad last night. It wasn't just the MPEG2 artifacts. There was some major problems with TNT-HD. It actually looked better in SD.

By definition, Geosynchronous orbit is at 0 deg. Latitude (over the equator). This is where (at 22,300 mi up) the orbit of the sat can equal the rotation of the earth.

It's not really related to MPEG4. It's for the KA-LO band.

It is not possible. Directv satellites are in orbit over the western hemisphere and are licensed to provide direct to home service in the United States.

That date assumes that everything will go according to plan with D10. Not a guarantee. I'm crossing my fingers.

As far a I know, these next 10 markets have no official promise date. The only thing that I have from D* is that my market (Flint/Saginaw) will be up by the end of 2007.

Not true in my case. I had grandfathered distants, and in Oct. of 2004 when I got a HD receiver, the HD distants were automatically provided. I still have them. Has it changed since 2004?

Here's one for you. My Zip code (48872) is in 3 counties. Each one, a different DMA. Livingston (Detroit), Ingham (Lansing) and Shiawassee (Flint/Saginaw).

If your service address is LA then you will get ABC CBS NBC and FOX in HD over satellite. Currently these stations are on a CONUS (continental US) beam primarily for DNS Subs. I don't know how long this will last, as D* is moving all network HD over to MPEG 4 and Spot Beam sats. For now, you...
