Neighbor may want me to move BUD

Hmmm, fig trees. I like it. :) Any of you guys remember the old Mail Pouch tobacco barns. I think they'd paint your barn for free it they could put their advertisement on it. My storage building is 12x28 and 8ft tall. I wonder how he'd like waking up every morning to a 28x8 sign...

Neighbor may want me to move BUD

Hey Ice, I hear ya. I think this guy probably already had it done professionally but I'm not 100% certain. There were 2 cars over there when I came home yesterday. There was a big thunderstorm going on so I didn't go over. I also didn't really want to deal with the guy. I'm going to...

Neighbor may want me to move BUD

I can't say with certainty that he had it done professionally, but I'm thinking he did. They used the two pins that I knew of, and found a third I didn't know about, when I sight down the stake line they appear to be accurate. The previous owner had put some railroad ties down the side of the...

Neighbor may want me to move BUD

Stogie, I like the way you think! I was thinking about leaving the mast there, and putting my pizza dishes on it. They might go right up to the line without crossing. I don't know about the pink shed, but I do know where I could get a nice flock of pink flamingos. A nice grouping...

Neighbor may want me to move BUD

Hey guys, There's a vacant lot next door to me. The guy that owned it moved his old house off of the lot about 10 years ago, and is now thinking about building a new one there. I just bought my place about a year ago, and never even met the guy until about 3 months ago. He was making an...

    Spun aluminum, worth a try?

I'd try to get the reflector for you, but it went in the trash when I cleaned out the shed at the old place. Performance was pretty decent on the old dish, but it was finicky. I never did find a manufacturer. I think they are long gone. That's why I had the duct tape and home made holders...

    Spun aluminum, worth a try?

Here's a couple of good ones of the secondary reflector.

    Spun aluminum, worth a try?

I found this pic. It will probably help some. I'll look some more tomorrow to see if I can find a better view of the business side of the reflector.

    Spun aluminum, worth a try?

Hey, just found your PM. I just got rid of my old dish, literally in the last week. I picked up a 10' Unimesh a couple years ago, and my Cassy has been laying on the back of my old lot. I just sold the old house and the new owners closed on Monday. I only brought the 10 footer with me when I...

    Mounting birdhouse on Sat Pole

Just saw all the new ideas. Some I categorize as good, some . . . . well let's just put them into an "other" category. :) Thanks to all who have put in their 2 cents. Helpful or amusing, all are appreciated. I put the birdhouse up today and used Anole's idea. I also picked up a can of...

    Mounting birdhouse on Sat Pole

Hmmmm . . . . . I'm not sure that potential buyers of my house will see duct tape as the selling feature that you do Stogie. I think I'll stick with Anole's plan for now, and keep the duct tape option as plan B in case I have trouble selling the place. :)

Thanks guys! I was hoping for one good idea and I wound up with two!

    Mounting birdhouse on Sat Pole

Hey guys, I just moved and am trying to sell my old house. My BUD moved with me of course, but the pole it was mounted on is very firmly planted in the back yard of the old place. I'm going to put a birdhouse on top of it, and was wondering if any of you had suggestions for how to mount it...

4DTV is great - even the wife thinks so!

In general I agree, but when I had 4DTV I purchased an R5000 mod and used it with SageTV. So you can have a PVR and the absolute best quality output (it's a direct stream capture), but the solution isn't for everyone. Ultimately, the lack of HD pushed me over to the dark side (Dish Network)...

    PVC Schedule 40

Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. I probably went a little overboard when I planted my BUD, but I used schedule 80 steel and also filled it with concrete. I put about 500 pounds of concrete in the hole with rebar through the bottom of the pipe. I can happily report the thing doesn't move a...

2 10 ft dishes in VA for auction

Actually, they called it an ACS. ACS is a local company here in Roanoke that used to sell c-band satellite dishes in SW VA. They got out of the business a few years ago and only do Dish network now.

How much signal quality should I expect

I don't know that you'll get much higher with a 1.8m dish. When I had the 922 with my 10 footer, I pretty much pegged the meter on those sats. You may be able to make very fine adjustments to your skew and bump them up a little higher though. The ones in the 80's shouldn't give you trouble...

    922 question

I never used that connection, but I think the guys are right. It's just a pass-through for an antenna signal. Mike

    NBC HD sound

Maybe I should skip through the game so I can get to the commercials! :)

    NBC HD sound

I'll be watching through Sage. I usually pause games for a half hour or hour before I start watching so I can skip commercials. I'll have to manually sync the two extenders to get it to work anyway. I'm not sure it's going to be worth the hassle though. It might be best to just watch OTA...

    NBC HD sound

Hmmm, interesting thought. I could move the second extender out of the bedroom into the living room and tune it to the OTA broadcast. Not exactly a high-tech solution, but it would work. :) Thanks!

    NBC HD sound

I'm not at an NBC station, but I think the feeds on AMC18 are the ones the local affiliates use. I don't really know what a Miranda box is, but I'm guessing that it's somehow using the metadata to mux the multiple audio streams into one. Is that correct? Don't suppose you know a way of...

    NBC HD sound

Thanks for the reply! I don't have a way to mux the KU and Cband feeds. I'll be watching through Sage. There might be a way to get the OTA sound though. Wish I new how the local stations did it. I think I'll post this on the Sage forums too. The interesting thing is that Sage sees all the...
