Incorrect.. D* could add them anytime they choose....however, they chose not to and in fact mad fun of those channels in adds. Voom's death was forseen many many years ago when they were a sperate tier. They cannnot stand on their own like HBO or Showtime.

You are correct maketing great....as a business plan though it sucks. Nothing like cutting your revenues by more then half.

No, since Boeing built D* fleet I don't think there would be a patent problem there. If E* would own the sat then they could make an agreement with Boeing unless they are also suing Boeing?

Maybe next time E* should own their own sat's like D* does. Just food for thought

D* equipment is very good. May take a while to get use to it but it does have some very nice features E* DVR do not have.

Typically at what time of the day does E* lite up new channels? ESPNNews did say Dish would have that channel today. Keep hope alive :)

From what I read on the forum there are a lot more "gotchas" with Dish. Locals are extra, HD is more, more DVR fee's, etc.

Especially if it's theone program you like. Some people tend to forget with the HD channel programs are added all the time. When Spike HD first launched there was not HD programming (the SD look very good) not there are a few shows here and there. Without the HD channel some people would never...

For Directv it took approximately 2 month after launch. I would assume similar for Dish

Not sure where you get the 2.9 billion. depreciation and amortization is 1.33 billion added to their net profit only shows 2.08 billion vs. D* 4.17 billion. All the while D* total subs are 16.8 million vs. E* 13.78 million.

I don't think D* will or needs give away their HD-DVR's especially when they are making 4.4 billion dollars in profit a year. E* is giving away theirs and only making 750 million a year.

You may be right but it's better then E* claiming they have the most HD channels. Plus you forgot HD locals. Not sure about the number of HD channels you get with the family pack.
