Got update U303 on hopper 3

For those saying you have 5.1, what exactly are you looking at? The Netflix app definitely marks shows with the "5.1" icon next to "HD" and in the audio menu it shows 5.1 as the soundtrack I'm playing, but my receiver only says it's receiving PCM. No trouble getting 5.1 from actual satellite...

    Why no H3 for me?

Weird, it is possible it's a Dish employees vs. contractor thing then. They guy at my house was definitely a Dish employee, I asked. Dunno what you can do other than keep calling to complain. Aaron

    Hopper 3 terrible HD picture

It's not, we're talking about the same thing. I've had AV equipment that use the terms "just scan" or "passthrough" or "video processing off" or "native", all basically meaning just send out the signal as they get it without doing anything else to it. Aaron

    Why no H3 for me?

I think the issue is that no one at Dish support can do anything but the tech can. When he was at my house the tech had to call in the new work order himself, I assume using a special number to access a different department. The only people who have reported success so far is when the tech...

    Hopper 3 terrible HD picture

One of the general rules of video processing is "only do it once". Technically right now on a 720p channel the Hopper is scaling it to 1080 before outputting it, and then my 4K TV has to scale it again. Actually, now that I think about it, does it output a 720p channel as 1080p or 1080i? It...

    Why no H3 for me?

I think there are really two problems - customers who are actually in one of those zip codes, and I'm guessing they may really be out of luck. Then there are customers like me who had some data in the system saying we needed multiple or larger dishes but that isn't actually the case. In my...

    Why no H3 for me?

I also had to just schedule a bogus tech visit eventually. There was nothing that anyone, apparently even DIRT, could do to fix the info in their system that I still had a dual dish setup. Hopefully once the tech is here he'll be able to just get the Hopper 3 installed as others have seen...

    HOPPER 3 UPGRADE WAITING LIST!

I would also like an upgrade and hopefully DIRT can help me with my "low beam" problem!

Is there a way to identify the exact dish I have?

There are some places that actually do need 2 dishes to get adequate signal from the satellites. The combined dish with three LNBs is fine for most, but if you have a low signal (usually on a spot beam for your local channels) they might need to feed the signal from that satellite from a single...

Is there a way to identify the exact dish I have?

I think I found a simple confirmation, in my system info page and check switch results it shows I have a "DPP 1K.2". Pretty obvious once I know where to look. Now back to trying to get DISH to give me a new Hopper. :-) Aaron

Is there a way to identify the exact dish I have?

I've read the other thread and I will once I know for sure what dish I have, I just want to be positive before claiming that I have the one that I think I have. Aaron

Is there a way to identify the exact dish I have?

I tried to get an upgrade to the Hopper 3 today and was told that it's not available for me because I'm in a low beam area. I'm thinking it's because I used to have a second dish for 129 when they did my original installation about 10 years ago. About 2 years ago I had the siding on my house...

    Hopper 3 terrible HD picture

Deep Color is just a marketing name for 10-bit or 12-bit color. I'd check it out, can't possibly hurt anything. Maybe it will let you tweak how the TV works when 10-bit color is enabled by the Hopper. Aaron

    Hopper 3 terrible HD picture

HDR (10-bit color) is listed in the spec sheet for the Hopper 3 and it was mentioned in several CES reviews. Clearly the Hopper 3 has to have the ability to send the metadata to the TV telling it to enable that mode, the question is when does it turn it on? It seems for the LG TV it's enabling...

Dish Anywhere / Android 5.0 issues

I contacted Dish at the email address listed for the app in the Google Play store. I received a reply that they are working on an update to fix the issue which is "tentatively scheduled for December". :eeek

    DISH Anywhere upgrade problems

I'm having the same issue on my Nexus 5. I sent an email to the app support address listed in Google Play so hopefully they will have a fix soon. Aaron
