You may have reduced performance, but otherwise no issues - unless you poke an eye out with an element :)

I would study up and learn to do your own work. It will save TONS of frustration! I always kept a few spare parts around in case of trouble. Of course I got on DTV and DISH back when you could install yourself :)

We just did the same thing. Digital Cable, Starz Pak, 10mps internet and phone for $75/month 2 years. They are even paying upfront the disconnect fee for Directv! We were paying $75/month for phone and internet before. So, we could not pass this up.

I might ad that I have buried 100's of feet of cable around my yard, and I wait until the ground is wet and have at it - much easier then. I can usually bury 50-75' in about 15-20 minutes.

The rabbits around here will chew through coax if it is left on the ground now that it is winter out - I ran a temp cable to a dish for a short itme and within a few days about 2 feet long of the outer cable plastic had been eaten away :)

That is a good one! On a side note, I had a radar detector once that everytime I pulled into my driveway, it went off. I was about 30 feet infront of the dish. I did trace it to the dish and when powered down, the radar detector was quite!

I record everything off of the DVR, not live. Maybe I have just had good luck :) When I try to copy DVDs or VHS tapes, I get the copy protection error and cannot copy them to DVD.

I have a Samsung DVD Recorder. I have burned from HBO, SHO and Monsters among others without any issues.

I have not (as of last week) had any problems transferring from my 622 to my DVD recorder.

Let's not give Free To Air receivers a bad name.....a person has to download software to the receiver to make them illegal. They give us legit FTA'ers a bad name :)

Not sure how it works with Dish, but alot of time the manufacturer will sell items at "list" price so that customers will deal with the local guy. If the manufacturer is cheapier than their dealers, then dealers won't want to sell their product. Not sure if that is the case with Dish.

I have only 1 receiver hooked to a phone line - a 622. My 811 and 301 have never been hooked to a phone line - I have had them for years. If Dish were to call to audit me and they treated me the way everyone here says they get treated, I would cancel Dish. I am odd - I don't care about HDTV...

OK, been troubleshooting tonight, and problem is SOLVED! It was a bad diplexer in the line. Luckily I had a spare cable buried out to my shed (where the Dish 1000 is) and was able to by pass the diplexer on both ends and all is good. Thanks to those that offred help! :)

I thought Dish allowed you to have a receiver in a motor home? I know I have been a sub for 10+ years and they have always given me permission to do so, and have said anytime I have asked that that is not a problem.

My wife was watching tv last night, and the check switch screen came up. It started going through 1 of 38 checks and would just continue to do this. I did a soft reboot, a hard reboot, I left it unplugged over night and plugged it back in, same thing. I checked all cables and all are ok. On...

If I had had that experience, I would cancel. TV is not worth that hassle or treament.

So why all the inactive accounts? I got the same message. Seems fishy that alot of people that sent in the rebates have "inactive accounts".
