Back on this forum for the first time in a few, maybe several years - have had no real problems and was basically on cruise control with Dish until...
My rates went way up a month or so ago after my latest commitment ended. I've been with Dish for close to 20 years, and it used to be when one...
Yep, this is not the right time to try an SSD experiment lol.
I'm using that powered adapter with a standard 500GB SATA III HD. The 722 formatted it no problem so I think I'm in business.
Thanks for the quick responses everyone.
Thanks people, starting archive now. Luckily lots of old crap I don't need so will archive the important stuff first!
Hmmm, wonder if I can use my powered SATA to USB 3.0 adapter and connect my spare 120GB SSD drive... (I'm a computer tech, so have lots of toys/adapters/parts around).
My 722 VIP is being replaced with a Hopper 3 tomorrow (yeah!) .
Dish phone rep said the install tech will take care of transferring DVR recordings from my 722 to the Hopper. They said I cannot use a USB drive to transfer, as the Hopper will format the EHD and I'll lose all my recording. However...
"I don't understand why there isn't a way to set it up so you can designate to record to TV1 or TV2 and change that as you see fit."
That's been my biggest gripe about the Dish DVR's for years. I figured it was a matter of time 'till they gave us better control over this, but apparently not...
"Is this happening with live programming and DVR recordings, as well, or any other VOD content?"
Regular live programming and DVR are fine.
Receiver model = VIP722
was the content fully downloaded before you attempted to view it?
Not completely sure - could not find status anywhere...
I'm trying Dish Cinema for the first time. I have broadband setup etc OK (I'm a computer/network tech by trade).
Short Version: Trying to watch Predators (hey its free!), screen is black/no audio.
But if I hit Pause/Info/FF/RR it acts like it would if it was playing something (little pause...
"I got my account PPV/VOD credit limit set to $0."
How does one do that? On the website or is there an option buried in the setup menu somewhere?
Thanks1
Too much $$, and I already have a sling box.
722 should be fine for my purposes. The 622 was actually fine, just wanted working HDMI - gonna string a long HDMI cable from monoprice to new HD TV in bedroom (UHF Pro on TV1 - check!).
Good point - I'll check that out with them - maybe an on line chat/support session that I can save the text from as proof later if needed.
Hope there aint a $15 charge - will keep an eye on my bills too...
It was definitely a leased receiver - I did not buy it. If fact, I deactivated it to save the lease fee. But of course due to their weird policies at the time it did not work out that way and I didn't save any $$.
It just seems odd that after seemingly abandoning it a few years ago they could...
A few years back, I had a 622 and a 522 on my account. I determined I really only needed one receiver, so called and had the 522 deactivated. I asked if they wanted me to send it back, they said no, I could hang onto it as a spare and/or activate it in the future if needed. Basically they didn't...
For the record - low signal from 61.5 turned out to be partially busted connector up by the LNB. The installer found that this morning when he installed a new EA 1000.4 dish.
So - all Ok now. Got 722 to replace 622 with busted HDMI, 1000.4 for EA, and HD for Life. The installer replaced all...
All OK!
After the 1000.4 and 722 were installed, I had no HD at all - Yikes.
No problem though - At that point, I was able to go online and select HD For Life and in a few minutes I had HD back, including HD versions of HLN and E! which I could not get before without EA.
The tech (Derreck) was...
Upgrade from 622 to 722 required 2 year vommitment. If I had stuck with a replacement 622 (to fix dead HDMI on my current 622) there would have been no commitment required per the CSR. Either way there would have been shipping charge of $15, but I signed up for DHPP on the same call so there...
Yeah, I kinda remember reading that in a thread here a long time ago, but I don't trust my memory that much. Think I'll just wait till Tuesday and try then (day after the work order). If it doesn't work, I'll try on line CSR per Sherman's suggestions.
I called Dish a few nights ago to try to get:
Eastern Arc 1000.4 dish
Trade my 622 with dead HDMI for a 722
Free HD for Life promo
Told them I would take a commitment and sign up for DHPP, but I wanted to make sure I could still get the HD for Life thing.
Wasn't sure if I should take care of...
Actually, I just emailed the CEO address requesting:
Switch to 1000.4 EA dish. I did not mention signal loss though - I used the "I'm not getting the new HD channels like E! angle (E! as in Entertainment Channel, not Echostar)" This is true and highlights the problem on their end, not mine)...
Look again - On the My Account page, there is a new option to add HD For Life. It's on the list at the left side along with the regular Account Overview, Account Profile, etc.
Just a clicky or two of the mouse and you are good to go!
"The whole thing will be done pretty cheaply for you too."
"for a small fee"
Any idea what "pretty cheaply" and "small fee" actually are for those of us not on Dish Protection Plan?
