i use dish anywhere with amazon firetv. it works fine for live and recorded content. i use a somewhat older version of the APK from apkmirror.com I'm using in on a vip722k with sling. No hopper here.

you could slightly modify the D500 to get 110/119/129 with an additional LNB, a chunk of wood, and some zipties (along with a DP34 or DP44 switch). I'm not recommending it long term, but it can be made to work just fine.

switch to newer lnb's. I had a situation once where I kept getting the 38 checks with a dish1000.2. Ended up being a slice in one of the coax cables up on the roof. Once i replaced it, it went to 4 checks (normal for 1000.2).

I bet a wooden nickel it wont work. with a real slingbox it would...but the dish sling adapter has to negotiate with the dish backend to list available receivers and such. When my internet service is down, sling adapters other than REAL slingboxes do not work at all.

I have a Dish 722K with a sling adapter. Data hairpins through the internet when I use the dish anywhere app on my phone, connected to wifi only. My dish receiver and my wifi access points are on different vlans, but they are on the same network.

Not to go down a rathole here -- but that's pretty trivial to work around :) This would be a -killer- app for dish. I'd love it for sure! Just make sure I can play along too (no hopper here).
