    Considering switching from Directv

Is the Hopper 3 itself a 4k client?

    Considering switching from Directv

My dad purchased a nice 4k tv this week so I got a chance to see Dish picture quality at his place and for channels I watch I thought it looked quite good. This leads me to another question. Is it possible to get 4K without paying for DVR service? He's retired and home all damn day. No need...

    Considering switching from Directv

I'm reading a lot of negative from those who have the new Directv guide.

    Considering switching from Directv

We watch on the Genie the most and it's the worst because it's hooked to HT receiver. It's a very annoying 1-2 second cut/dropout in sound. I've tried both the HR24 and Genie and they both do it. Tried them direct to the tv and it still does it but it's a more subtle and quick pop. I don't...

    Considering switching from Directv

I've been with Directv for nearly 10 years but having a continual problem of audio cutouts they can't resolve. I have a HR44, HR24 and 3 clients currently. Anything I should consider before making a decision? Will I be happy with Dish picture quality? Genie vs Hopper? Appreciate any feedback.

    Any changes with HD PQ?

Big Dog Satellite is the only local retailer I see. Heard iffy things about them.

    Any changes with HD PQ?

I agree, but If I switched and lost a channel my wife watches I'll never hear the end of it. No savings is worth that. I must say, WOW, are the Dish chat folks pushy. I hopped on there to ask a question and all I can say is I felt like I was at a sleazy used car lot. Oh, and conveniently the...

    Any changes with HD PQ?

So sounds like it's a pretty subjective thing to ask. Trying to research what channels i will gain/lose in the change now and taking a look at the newer Dish equipment.

    Any changes with HD PQ?

I'm thinking about returning to Dish. Have a long running dispute with a local channel that seems to have to end in site. 2008 was the last time I was with Dish and I'm curious does Dish still uses the reduced res of 14xx x 1080? Not trying to start a big debate or anything, but I did think I...

    Helping mother-in-law

How is that more simple than an option that allows you to walk away and never touch it again??

    Helping mother-in-law

This is not a tech savvy person at all. I want a option I can set and walk away. Scrolling through the guide button for the different options does not provide this. It will only lead to her calling and asking where a missing channel is.

    Helping mother-in-law

So sounds like they haven't changed anything. That's to bad they done offer a simple "hide sd dupes" option like Directv. So in order for to not see SD dupes she has to be on the favorite that hides all SD's??? That's not good.

    Helping mother-in-law

Need one more piece of help. Any easy way to hide all the duplicate SD channels. Directv has an easy option to hide them. I don't remember if Dish did or not. If I was at her house I would figure it out myself.

    Helping mother-in-law

Ok, I got her set up. What a PITA for old farts with no computer. Now my wife and I have to get all her Dish emails because of paperless billing. :(

    Helping mother-in-law

Signing in online is required to get the channels too? Is auto pay required for HD free for life? I don't want to have to get her banking info. She hasn't even mentioned free for life yet. Just wondering why missing channels at this point.

    Helping mother-in-law

My mother in law had an installer out to upgrade them to HD yesterday. They are only getting a few of the HD channels right now for some reason. Installer told them they need to go online to do "something". What is he talking about? They don't even have a computer. I've been in Directv...

    Billing question

Need help with a billing question. I'm looking at my mother's bill and not sure what is correct. 1. She has 1-722 and 1-222. What should her equipment charge be per month? 2. She is still getting charged $10 for HD 250. She has AT&T bundle billing...is that why?

DISH NETWORK EXPANDS LOCAL HIGH DEFINITION MARKETS

It looks to me like the 2 Springfield, MO markets were only added for EA(77W) customers. Almost no current customers will see the additions in Springfield, MO.

    Another Awsome Screwup

Maybe dish should move towards LEASED receivers only. Might alleviate the problem. There's $0 savings in purchasing a new receiver. In fact it costs more.
