    Lifetime Ala Carte?

You are trying to compare a NATIONWIDE advertising campaign to an in the New York Times, whose readership and circulation numbers have been declining for the last ten years. Please.

    Lifetime Ala Carte?

If you aren't doing a national advertising campaign (i.e. don't want to spend that much money because you know you are on the wrong side of a losing situation) the next best thing is to target specific markets. Orlando is one of the best markets because for relatively cheap airtime (compared to...

    Lifetime Ala Carte?

Lets try and remember not to blame Disney in this game. Yes, while they are part owners of the channel with Hearst, they are not the ones in the middle of this debacle. Lifetime, like A&E and E! handle their own negotiations separate from Disney's negotiations. The negotiations Disney...

HA!!! The Yankees Lost!!!!! (YES N.)

Obviously there are some teams that defy the money structure, ie the Padres (62.8m; but that is a whole other story). And then there are teams that spend a hell of a lot and get no where either, ie the Mets (104m) and Phillys (95.3m). However the many teams realize that to make money you have to...

HA!!! The Yankees Lost!!!!! (YES N.)

If more people understood how true that is, there would be so many less problems in sports. The reason people hate the Yankees is they are just jealous that their team (1)doesn't spend money on their team and (2) doesn't win because they don't spend money on the team. Perfect examples, Angels...

    Ch 139 TBS

It does make sense.. Up at 230 it was pretty much all by itself. Infact when they moved the Travel Channel a few years ago, they should have put it around the Discovery Channel (180s).

    Photos from Team Summit 2005!

Also since the 411 design mimics the 942 design, my guess would be that they will re-release the 942 with MPEG 4 compatibility. What a day...all this news! :D

    Photos from Team Summit 2005!

Does anyone else think it is interesting that the 411 info card say that it is a future replacement for the 811 AND 311. Could this become the 'standard' Dish receiver with an eventual plan to move everything to MPEG 4 (Many years out of course)?

First Look - Dish Whole House HD/SD Solution?

I don't believe that this is a set top box that you would place in one room and then connect to others. But what makes this a novel idea is basically it 'replaces' both your switch and STB. You would plug the SAT inputs directly into this unit and then it would output it to as many as 6...

Does Voom Resuscitation Cinch FCC Approval for Dish?

I would be willing to bet that now Voom is here to stay it makes E* chances worse of gaining the satellite. The FCC likes competition, they don't want to eliminate it, and competition is strengthened not weakened by this news.

    Questions for Dish

Of course they probably will not know what you are talking about, but be sure to ask them of their plans for MPEG4. Also is there any other HD receivers in the works after the 942. Thanks!

CSR told buddy that Dish is buying VOOM

If I remember correctly, the Voom spin off includes Cablevision's other channels including AMC, We, etc. So selling off just the sat. assets and remaining a content provider makes the most sense. The situation I just mention is the most probable to me, seeing as both companies are keeping...

    New Satellites.

Could the 83 bird actually be at 85? Because SES is launching AMC 16 soon, and it looks to be identical to AMC 15 which E* is leasing http://www.ses-americom.com/satellites/amc-16.html

Why not switch to MPEG-4 AVC High Profile or MS's VC-1 codec?

Would it be possible to send customers a small circuit adaptor for each of the "non-compatible" boxes (if there are any compatible) that they could attach before the signal enters the box? Similar to how they have the power inserter for the switches. These small boxes could decript the signal...

    Tampa Locals Outage

Is anyone else in the Tampa Bay area experiencing an outage with their locals. I in a way expected this to happen later with Charley on its way (ironic huh :yes ), but as I look out the window it is still sunny out! Is this a dish problem or a problem at the local stations?

    New Look to 301s!

Well after a long day of computer problems I decided to sit down and watch a little TV. So popped on the old TV, and same old...until I reached over to get something and accidentally hit the Menu button, and to my amazement/enjoyment I noticed that my 301 had a slightly new look to it...

921 & 811 Listed on Dish Network Website (Sort of!)

Other Receivers Up As Well Dish used the same technique on the other pages as well. If you look at the DVR pages it lists the 522 and 921 and on the Standard Receiver page they have the 301, 311, 111, and 322. I will try and do the same thing Scott did, so you can see what they look like...
