I think it would be a good move for D*. Tivo has a good brand name and they could continue to let Tivo operate and try to generate revenue while supplying boxes to Directv. Murdock could actually start making money on Cable from Comcast and anyone else who wants to use it as a stand alone unit.

I realize that. I was surprised since their unit is not on the market yet. They were very general with the advertisement so it works for tivo or non tivo PVR's.

This morning on my way to work, I heard a DirecTV commercial advertising the benefits of a PVR. There was not one mention of Tivo in the ad. They only spoke of a DirecTV receiver with PVR.

I will take an upconverted signal over SD any day. May not be true HD but it is better than SD!

I say use a dealer. Directv has had a history of just sending what ever they want. Back when everyone was switching from 40 GB to 80 GB Tivo units, callers calling into Directv got what was in stock and didn't get to choose.
