    I have an HR34 so making a custom channel list would be a tedious process of slowly clicking through the laggy UI and often over shooting the menu choice I want or pressing the select button multiple times to get a response and then ending up deep inside the wrong menu.

    I have the SELECT package. For whatever reason the "channels I get" guide choice lists several channels that I don't in fact get such as ESPN and others. It has been that way for a long time. What gives? I'm fine with not having ESPN and don't want it listed in the channel list either.

    She was about to call them again but then there was an update sent to her HR34 which has fixed the problems. The UI is now responsive and the receiver does not need to be power cycled in the morning.

    Once again this morning Directv pushed down its defective software to my DVR. I always know when they do it because the picture becomes garbled. Luckily 0x59e is still in the stream and I could again 02468 to get back to the version that works.

    No. Directv told me I could downgrade and not lose free he so I did and then found my free hd was gone. They made me switch back to get free hd again and then charged me partial month hd fee even though they told me the wrong thing.

    Did 02468 at restart and it downloaded 0x59e. Problem is gone. Phew Is 0x5c8 newer than 0x59e? In other wards am I through the worst of it or might 0x5c8 be pushed down again?

    Well I'm on Choice now. Best I can do without losing Free HD thereby invalidating the saving from Entertainment package. Still paying for a bunch of channels I don't want but oh well. It is odd, Nat Geo is part of Choice package and I still get it but the row is grayed out in my guide.

    Iceberg, I thought that the free HD was only for new customers. In the past, Choice Xtra was the lowest package that qualified for free HD so figured it would be the same for existing customers on new packages.
