    Here come the price increases

Charlie didn't try to buy a big chunk of Sirius. Charlie owned ( and still ownes a large part of Sirius bonds i.e. Sirius debt) Charlie has hoping that Sirius would default on the debt so that he could just step in and take over. But John Malone of Liberty Media and a major holder of DirecTv...

No longer allowed to sell DTV Equipment

Maybe DTV is hacked and they are trying to nip it in the bud.

Breaking News Live from the Directv Entertainment Expo

There is no way DirecTV and Echostar could merge. They tried already. DOJ said no...antitrust issues. FCC said no...they would not allow the transfer of TP licenses. And that was back when Voom was still a DBS provider...and Echostar even offered to give Voom their TPs at 61.5. If...

    B Band Converter problem HELP!

The big reason for using KA instead of KU is the Spaceway birds were not initially built for Video services. They were initially meant for broadband internet. DTV got the birds in the Rupe purchase of DTV.

Report: DIRECTV HD Satellite Launch Scheduled For july 6th

I would rather see a launch delay than have the bird blowup on the pad. If D10 were to have a catastrophic launch failure D* would look silly with their pushing about up to 150 HD channels coming.

    Lost Speed TV!

Maybe it is just me, but even IF the person is outside of the US. As long as they are a paying customer (there are brokers who will handle the paperwork) then I see nothing wrong with someone outside of the US watching US satellite service. The big thing is if they are a paying sub or not. And...

Updates on the Launch of DIRECTV 10

If your mpeg4 locals look as good as OTA HD then you have 1 or more problems. 1. Your HD set is not calibrated proberly. (there is no way a compressed channel can look better that the source) (OTA locals are broadcast in Mpeg2 DirecTV, the RE-compresses the channel in MPEG4) 2. You need...

How can E* keep adding HD?

IMHO putting up locals in HD is a waste of bandwidth. HD locals are available OTA, with better PQ than D* or E* offers. I could see having a East and West feed of the Big 4 in HD to serve people n ot able to get an acceptable OTA signal. But that would not really work for D*. The Spaceway...

    HOA! GRrrrrr

I live on a 30 acre hobby farm, so I dont have to deal with a HOA. But I used to live in a highend suburb. We didn't have an HOA, but the township had strict ordinances that the township closely followed (i.e grass not taller than 3.5 inches, no vehicles in the driveway that didn't have current...

    Be Nice it works!

E* is stingy when it comes to their retention dept. D* will give away quite a bit more. Before Rupe bought part of D* they would routinely give away the farm to keep a sub.

    Spaceway 2

Actually Spaceway1 &2 were designed for satellite broadband service internet. The beams are highly configurable, and could be used in a Conus configruation.

Well if DTV lives up to the customers expectations then it will not be a problem for retailers.

DirecTV sues Lifetime over Dishnetwork contract

Looks like DirecTV does not like the deal between Dishnetwork and Lifetime. http://www.multichannel.com/article/CA6318659.html Goes to show you what playing hardball with providers works.
