    HR20-700/Slimline Question

I already have 3 HR20-700's and yesterday I had the 5LNB Slimline Dish with the Zinwell 6x8 multiswitch installed. Everything works fine, however when I go through the set-up it finds all of the satellites except the 99. It says it "failed" on that one for all 3 HR20-700's. Is this normal? ~Josh

Am I able to add an internal or external hard drive to the HR20-700 to increase its storage capacity? If so, could someone give a brief set of directions to do this? What type of hard drive should I buy? Also, if an external hard drive is possible, can I use that with my other HR20-700's and...

    D* is getting smoked!!

I Made The Switch I was a DirecTV subscriber for 7 years and switched to E* last month. I have three of their HD-DVR's (VIP622) and could not be happier. I think I get something like 26 National HD CHannels, of which all seem to be good. I have two projectors in my set-up, one at 92" and one at...

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

Update I received an email from the Colorado Attorney General stating that they will both investigate HD-Lite and the fact that DirecTV and EchoStar are selling channels such as HBO-HD, HDNet and VOOM as a premium, but not selling the true product which is advertised (I.E. - 1920 x 1080i...

    "Moving" Question

Currently I live in Colorado Springs, which is not part of the Denver DMA. When Denver switches to MPEG-4, which I beleive will happen in June, if I "move" there how would I get the new equipment and dish? Will Denver have all four Networks in HD at that time? ~Josh

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

Longhorn, I totally agree with you! The analogies you listed make total sense. Directv lists that they are sending you HDNET, HBO HD, etc., but all they are sending you is an in-house modified version of those products, of which is never disclosed to the consumer at any time during the...

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

Excellent point Scots! The Senators are my elected offcials and it is their duty to look in to anything which concerns their citizens. It is also my right to request that they do just that. Whether or not they do, is of course anyone's guess. I just know that if I did not speak up, I would have...

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

I basically just wrote that several companies advertise and charge a premium for HD service yet their version of HD does not meet the definition set by the FCC and ATSC. I wrote that I felt it was a version of false advertising and that it is very deceptive to the average consumer. ~Josh

HD-Lite - Senators Have Been Contacted

Today I wrote to both of my state's Senators, Ken Salazar (D) and Wayne Allard (R). I informed them of the HD-Lite problem which is plaguing the industry. I will keep you all informed as I hear back from them or their Representatives. ~Josh

    D* defends HDlite

That is too bad that a majority of E*'s HD is HDLite as well. I guess the bandwidth is just a limitation of satellite service. Hopefully by the end of 2007 when D* has three more satellites up, maybe they will give in to consumer pressure and broadcast in True HD, since it appears they will have...
