    An Update

Plus if it was a pixelating issue, they would have known it a couple of days earlier when the channels went up in engineering mode and they could have changed the CSR scripts. But if it was an authorization issue, they wouldn't have known about it until last night as they were getting ready...

    Where is Robert?

Yes they do and I have an A1. But he was implying over in the HD DVD players forum at AVS that Toshiba was going to make a blockbuster announcement and that it would send HD DVD to the lead for good. Well, everyone was expecting an A2 price drop to at least $399 and maybe $299. Instead...

HR10-250 drops Channel 95 from favorites

Yes, but not on your end.:( It is a temporary channel that D* uses for HD special events etc. When the event is over, D* "turns off" the channel. Your receiver notices the channel is "off" and drops it from your Favorites list. When the next event comes along, D* "turns on" the channel...

    Speculation on networking the HR20

A user over at DBSTalk plugged his into a network port and although it wouldn't pull an IP, sent enough info to determine that the HR20 was sending packets that contained Ucentric code. So for those that don't know, Ucentric was the company that V* originally commissioned to make their DVR...

DirecTV to have 100 HD Channels by Christmas

And have launched 43??? The executive was Eric shanks in his interview with TVPRedictions.com (Swann). I also will be curious as to the other 18 markets given how D* added 4-5 markets way out of the top 50.

    Directs latest glitch

I agree with that statement, but it way mroe convenient to let D* bill my CC. I have a very low limit card that is only used for various billings such as D*, so ther e is not much they can do.

DirecTV to have 100 HD Channels by Christmas

This seems huge. Reading on down it talks about the first time D* applied they did not have the proper license, but now they do. Nice find. Very nice.

DirecTV to have 100 HD Channels by Christmas

He is sure! In fact D* requested to add some Ka payload to it and was denied by the FCC.

DirecTV to have 100 HD Channels by Christmas

Here is what we do know: 1) D*8 has 1,000 MHz of Ka bandwidth. This is EQUAL to BOTH Spaceways. I can find no mention of it being either spot or CONUS, but since it does not have the "S" designation, I will assume CONUS. 2) Original plan for the Ka bandwidth on D*8 was to connect D*...

    D* 9 Sat. news

Not really. It does not have any Ka capacity. It is a Ku spotbeam satellite. Now if there a re a few markets that still have their locals on CONUS, then possibly. But probably not. Our best chance is D* using the Ka capacity on D*8 at 101.

Now i'm confused: BBC HR20 MPEG 2 MPEG 4 Lite HD WHAT??

    3. Only if you want to get the MPEG-4 feeds. Good rule of thumb, put it on if you need it or not so it is there when you do need it. 6. The correct term is multiswitch and yes, you can get either the Zinwell WB68 (8 feeds) or the WB616 (16 feeds).

    DirecTV Touts HD Ambitions

The main reason would be that D* 10 and 11 are not built yet. They are under construction, but it will be 6 months or so before 10 is even ready. D* is lucky to even have the Spaceways. There were originally owned by Hughes to be used for internet via satellite (Direcway). I am sure D*...

    HR10-250 v6.3 Announcement / Release (It's out now!!)

Updates CAN happen over the phone lines in certain situations. For example, I did not have one box hooked to a phone line. Months after 6.2 came down, I moved it and wanted 6.2 on it. Since the update was no longer coming down from the satellites, it performed the 6.2 download via the phone line.

    DirecTV Touts HD Ambitions

As much as I don't like this situation, he has hit the nail on the head. We as hard-core HD fans went to the trouble to put up antennas and get our locals OTA if available. The average sub is not going to do that. They expect their provider to do it for them. I have to ask, if you were...

Options for people who migrate to Florida

Have them get at least 1 HD receiver even if they don't have HD. Then they can use an antenna to get digital locals via their D* receiver. Most of FL should have digital OTA coverage.

TV PRedictions Interview with D* EVP Shanks.

On Day One back in 1994 D* did have great PQ. Absolutely stunning. Friends who had cable would come over and marvel at how good it looked. Then came 1997 and it has been downhill ever since.:(
