5 TB Drives ... Will WD be first?

I haven't even migrated to the 4TB drives yet in my arrays. I have 54TB in 2 arrays (18TB RAID5 6 bay and 36TB RAID6 12 bay) I like to keep my video content as uncompressed as possible. So with 5TB drives I could get a total of 90TB in my arrays. Cool - a migration path!

First Reactions to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8

Updated my MBPro when the GM version came out earlier this month. 0 issues to date. Took all of last night to update my 3 minis, iMac, and 1 mini server (running Plex Media server) to ML server - 0 issues and everything working so far really nicely.

    IE 9 Beta

Look nice to me. One big issue for me is any site with Flash causes IE to restart on Win7 64. Redownloaded the "beta" Flash "Square" add-in but still blows when browsing any site with Flash. Disable Flash add-in and it works perfectly.

    MacBook Pro

Just drank some more kool-aid... Got the new mid-2010 model and it rocks. Running Win7 x64 with bootcamp and parallels so get the both of "both" worlds.

    Hulu Plus is here!

I watched Hulu Plus on my iPad on in-flight wifi internet from Seattle to Atlanta yesterday - 2 hours not a glitch and great picture quality. Amazing really to stream from a plane.

"US iPad Data Cost Versus the World"

Interesting. I wonder how much of pricing is based on infrastructure costs. US is huge compared to Singapore. More cells needed here, backend hauls, fiber distances, etc - more infrastructure more $

Chrome browser: latest beta has Flash built-in

Tried it also. It is fast. Crashed on a flash site/video though during my testing, so buyer beware until it is a little farther along in the beta process.

    Apple iPad 3G Thread

Scott is correct. 2 hours to provision 3g data service activation. Syncing took just over 5 hours. Up and running nicely now. A-GPS works nicely. Navigon took me home and used 1% of battery compared to 15% on the iPhone 3GS. Posting right now via my iPad in my easy chair.

    Apple iPad 3G Thread

Hope she got your hints!!! Activation occured around the 2hr point. Still syncing, nearly 4 hours now. To be fair to Apple, I do have the "Convert Higher bit rate songs to 128k AAC" selected, so it is having to convert 3K+ songs...

    Flash on mobiles/tablets

I typically don't like Flash-based websites but don't mind it for video. The biggest issue I have with Flash based apps is the interfaces some developer put on their flash applications. So I can't blame Adobe for that, but many UIs are just not very good and that will apply to HTML5 Canvas...

    Apple iPad 3G Thread

Got my iPad 3G today. Syncing in progress - it is slow just like the wifi to sync my 50gb+ of music, apps, etc. The other thing I noticed is it has said "Waiting for activation - This may take some time" and has said it for around an hour now. Guess their servers or ATT servers are being...

    Apple IPAD Owner's Thread

Yep, my standby was less than 24 hours, and with it on and with minimal use it wouldn't last more than a couple of hours. I don't necessarily blame the hardware for my issues. There were 3 other people ahead of me in the "return" line complaining about the coverage, slow speed, and unreliable...

    Apple IPAD Owner's Thread

I just took back the Sprint overdrive unit I bought for the iPad wifi version. It was horribly unreliable in the Atlanta market. In Las Vegas it was Ok - 4G all the time, but speed was 500-700K - worse than my AT&T 3G connection. In Atlanta, 4G very rarely (especially when driving) and the...

Anyone else getting the 3G Ipad on Friday? They hit my bank account last week for the funds and I got my shipping confirmation today! I ordered just after receiving my Wifi one on launch day.

On my first trip with my iPad. Haven't used my laptop at all and I am still really amazed by the battery life. I think I can standardize on the iPad for most of my business trips. Something I didn't think I would be able to do.

A few more comments from me. Wish it were just 1/2 pound lighter. iBooks pretty good. I can see reading a book on it where I never could on my notebook. Ok, worked on my email with it. Wow, it is easy and intuitive. Facebook doesn't need an app anymore - full screen website version much...

Ok wireless 802.11n rocks on this! In the 5ghz band I am getting over 19mb down and 7 Mbps up on comcast. More like a computer than an iPhone. I get less than 10Mbps on the 802.11g of the iPhone 3GS. Netflix on demand streaming in HD is beautiful. Have used it for around 6 hours now and...

Yep, I did. Since I usually use my iphone to browse in my living room chair at home, the ipad will make it a much better experience.

Apple announced it is ramping up production on the Tablet.

Like a bigger iPhone for my living room chair, probably only use it for there instead of iPhone web browsing and iPhone apps/games, won't know until I see what it is and what it will do.

Wonderful, it will be another way for them to deliver ads. Ads everywhere. I hate ads. I would rather pay than have ads.
