Can cable access channels rebroadcast FTA ones?

I think that you WOULD run into trouble rebroadcasting signals received from satellite, unless you have express written permission to rebroadcast them. Satellites are used to get a signal from point A to point B, and are private communications. It is up to the broadcaster as to whether they...

Random Act Of Kindness - FREE Visionsat PVR Receiver

My offer included shipping... My theory is that if someone doesn't have the money to buy a receiver, they may not have the money for shipping. My intentions were to give the receiver to a home where the person could not normally afford a receiver. A fellow SatelliteGuy is going to be...

Random Act Of Kindness - FREE Visionsat PVR Receiver

I hooked it up for the first time tonight in likely a year and scanned a few birds.. You're right, it is a great receiver! I have a Manhattan MPEG2/MPEG4 receiver now, so I know that this Visionsat would sit on the shelf for many more years if I didn't give it away or sell it. Knowing...

Random Act Of Kindness - FREE Visionsat PVR Receiver

Receiver is spoken for and is going to a good home. I took the very first reply that had a good home for the receiver - I wasn't going to make it into any sort of competition. One of the SatelliteGuys here is going to set up an FTA system for someone who is not able to afford a receiver...

Random Act Of Kindness - FREE Visionsat PVR Receiver

It's been a while since I've seen a Random Act Of Kindness posted here, so I'm going to do one. I have a Visionsat PVR receiver that I am going to give away. Here are the specifics.. I realize that many people these days are suffering from bad economic times. I would like to give away...

Contest: Enter To Win by Telling a Story! S2 Digital Satellite Meter w/Spectrum Analyzer from Satell

Congrats to chadg2 on the win. Thanks SatelliteAV for giving out the free stuff! I realize that the contest is closed, but I figured that I'd post a story anyways. Back in the early 80's while going to public school, a bunch of my friends and myself use to bug the janitor about his smoking...

GDMX channels on 99W now 4:2:0 DVB

I just noticed the same thing about an hour ago.. I did a blind scan using the Manhattan and was surprised to see the GDMX channels coming in!

    AMC3 rtv? what i'm missing?

Have you tried manually to enter in the frequency and symbol rate info? I've seen situations where the receiver will scan and will be off by a Mhz or two. Manually punch in the frequency and symbol rate to see if that helps. (Don't use blind scan) How big of a dish do you have fire1000?

    Openbox S9 vs Manhattan RS-1933

I don't think that the above statement is correct. When I record 2 different streams on the Manhattan, for the same amount of time, they come up with different file sizes depending on the amount of motion in the video and the type of programming on each of the streams. The Manhattan records...

    Openbox S9 vs Manhattan RS-1933

That would be amazing! Record the entire Puerto Rico mux on 99W C-Band, and you'll have most of the major network programming for the entire evening recorded... That would require a LOT of storage space :) I am super pleased with the Manhattan's ability to record 2 shows on a mux, while...

Asiasat 5 or Vinasat 1 in North America?

Those satellites are below the horizon here in North America.. If you live in Hawaii, you might have a chance, but not on the mainland.

    Coolsat 8100HD questions

Yes - If that Coolsat 8100 had blind scanning capability, it would have been one of the best on the market. The built in OTA tuner is a nice bonus to seamlessly pull together satellite and terrestrial broadcasts.

    Inside Scoop.....

Awesome! Thanks for the inside scoop Brian! The more channels the better!

    Can these be received?

I have given away my Coolsat 8100 to a SatelliteGuy who has a 12 foot dish. I'm pretty sure that he won't have any troubles with getting those channels :)

Who Bought a Manhattan, But Now Not Using it?

I've still got mine fired up 24/7. Scanning the skies and enjoying the features that my other FTA boxes don't have...

    Can these be received?

I've been able to get those signals on a finely tuned 7.5ft dish using a Coolsat 8100. My new Manhattan pulls them in better. The Manhattan seems to have a more sensitive tuner than the Coolsat did. I have never tried an Openbox to be able to compare.

Satellite and equipment to get specific "Wild Feed"

That particular feed has been around since the late 80's / early 90's. I can remember my mother setting up a VCR timer and tuning the disk over to the Anik satellite to record her soap opera at 4AM each morning. It has switched from analog to digital, but it's still there...

FREE GIVEAWAY : LEXIUM FastAlign 7100Pro satellite meter with AutoFind Technology - Enter To Win Now

I want to thank WSI International for doing these free giveaways... I'm not entering into the draw, because I believe that there are others here who will use it more than I will, but I do appreciate the excellent support that WSI are giving the SatelliteGuys.

Satellite and equipment to get specific "Wild Feed"

I think that the Days Of Our Lives feed is on one of the C-Band Anik Satellites.. Likely a 6ft dish would be required to get it. Depending on the signal strength in your area, a 4 footer Mini C-Band setup that has been precisely tuned might just barely squeek by for signal strength...

    Manhattan RS-1933 Thread

I am quite impressed with the receiver. As I mentioned in the review, it has a few quirks that need to be worked out, but none of those quirks are a show-stopper for the basic hobbiest in my opinion. From what I've seen of the support that the unit is getting, I'm willing to bet that many...

    Manhattan RS-1933 Thread

I am hoping to have my review of the Manhattan done tomorrow. I've been doing screen captures and a whole barage of tests on C and Ku Band. I am trying to do a detailed "Iceberg" style review of the receiver. I am using the latest firmware for my tests, which means that I've had to re-test...

RETIRING FROM F.T.A. IN THE TWIN CITY AREA....FREE DISH, ETC.....

Iceberg, I was in your area last Sunday.. We had gone shopping in North Branch and then went down to the Twin Cities and then went east. I had a Manhattan receiver in the trunk of the car with me.. I was thinking that you'd like to maybe take a peek at it, but I didn't have your actual...
