Uniden SQ590 won't stay powered up.

Power supply ASSUMING the power supply is the problem: I recommend "shotgunning" (replacing) all of the electrolytic caps in the power supply, especially if this is an old receiver. Old electrolytic caps do dry out and cause lots of problems. Use Panasonic FM series caps for <=50V, EB...

    Wild feed hunting

I'm having a time finding wild feeds. When i BS IA5, IA6, IA8, I pretty much don't find anything more. I have a very few feeds but I don't see the birds "light up" with feeds, say at 6 PM on the Pacific coast (USA). Do those of you who are old hands at feed hunting have other...

    IA-5 97.0 W FTA reception near Seattle?

I'm near seattle (a bit N of it) Get as much dish size as you can. I have a 36" dish and many channels on IA5 are a bit weak. I'm using a TechSAT Tracker LNBF (0.3 dB NF which is very quiet) Rain fade can be a problem especially in the winter. If you can swing it, get a 1.2m (48")...

I feel your pain! I was trying to get Ku birds, and my dish was bent :-( It took a week to get things going!!! You're in MUCH better shape than that. Lyngsat.com is your friend for finding which satellite has the channels you just scanned in. Knowing which satellite you're on helps...

I got equipment, now need aiming help

Trees... You can't get a signal through a tree....but if you can move one way or the other, the signal will go BESIDE the tree. You only need a hole the size of your dish (and your dish in EXACTLY the right place) to get the signal from one satellite. (bigger hole [clear area]=easier aiming)...

    G10 Issues?

Don't call in an "air strike" on yourself... As others here have explained in different words, we are "under the radar" on many channels and feeds. Making noise (complaining) will put it "ON the radar" and so you call an air strike in on yourself (that is, getting a channel or feed...

    having coolsat problems any suggestions??

Warranty... If it is still in warranty, get the seller to exchange it or the manufacturer to fix it. Much less risky than fixing it yourself. Self-repair IS risky. Don't blow a warranty by trying to fix it. Take this from someone who has fixed things like this for a living. BTW...

How to find my southernmost sat?

Scanning all sats... When you have the satellites programmed in, the Buzz unit will scan all of them. I don't know if it will blind scan all of them automatically or not.

What kind of Switch to use on DisEqC motor and Univ. LNBF setup?

I have an FTA system with a Universal LNBF and an SG2100 (Diseqc) motor. I'm trying to switch between a circular (DSS, LO=11250 MHz) and a linear LNBF (Universal, LO=9750 low, 10600 MHz high) on the same dish, with 2 receivers. One receiver is a Buzz S2010f FTA unit and the other is an E*...
