    multi switches

Thanks guys that clears things up a lot! I always thought that each output of a LNB had combined polarities so that single was for 1 receiver, dual for 2, quad for 4 and that switches was a way to combine the signals. I thought I could avoid getting duals and get singles with switches. :p To...

    multi switches

Hey Iceberg, In your diagram you have 2 wires going from each LNB to a 4x4 switch. Are those dual LNBs? Can you use single LNBs and hook 4 LNBs to one 4x4 switch? Take a look at my diagram.

I'll have to spring for the T90 then :( Probably 3 or 4 receivers. I don't know what satellites yet. When I find a new one, I'll add another LNB. Let's say I had 7 LNBs. How do I hook them together?

    multi switches

I was thinking about getting a Toroidal dish as opposed to getting a dish and a motor. I will be hooking it to multiple TVs so I don't think a motor will be a good idea. My question is, what kind of switches do I need if I use all the LNBs? I'm looking at some 5x8 switches but that's pretty...

Ready to make my first purchase!

Thanks for the quick replies as always Iceberg! On ebay they have linear quad LNBs with 4 linear outputs. Am I wrong? http://cgi.ebay.com/QUAD-PANORAMA-UNIVERSAL-LINEAR-KU-LNBF-PANSAT-FTA-LNB_W0QQitemZ5853261535QQcategoryZ11726QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Ready to make my first purchase!

Ok. I've been doing a log of reading the past week. Here's what I plan to get: Viewsat VS2000 Extreme SG2100 motor 36" Dish Single KU Band LNB DiSeqC Switch Couple of questions though: 1. I plan on adding more recievers in the future. I need a dual or quad LNB correct? 2. Do I need a...

    ViewSat VS2000 Platinum vs Extreme

I finally decided to get a VS2000 as my initial receiver and wait for the price of PVRs to drop. It seems like this is the most popuplar. Just a question about the differences between the ViewSat Platinum and Extreme. Am I correct in understanding that the main differences are that the Extreme...

    Anyone with a Topfield PVR?

Thanks Larry. Good find. NA Topfield is not showing up in the search engines. They show the 5000 as $700... Although that price includes the dish. Mighty steep! :(

    blind scan vs automatic scan?

So basically, without blind scan I would need to use something like the SatFinder software to get all the frequencies and import them in first? Auto scan will only automatically scan known frequencies that you put in?

    blind scan vs automatic scan?

i'm a little confused as to what is the difference. everyone seems to say that blind scan is the best for getting news feeds. i was all set to get the geosatpro until i saw that it didn't do blind scan. do i really need it?

    Anyone with a Topfield PVR?

The "TAP" applications is what attracted me to Topfield. There is a huge geek base in UK and Australia making apps for it. This might be the future.. There is so much good hardware out there, but because of poor software implementation, it is considered bad. It's like good MP3 players blasted...

List of North American FTA PVR?

Is there such a list? I'm looking to purchase my first receiver. I found a list for PVR comparison in the UK: http://www.emsee.co.uk/pvr/ . It seems like North America is way behind in PVR :( I've been scouring these forums and found: PanSat 6000 GeoSatpro DVR1000ci Any others? I don't...

    Anyone with a Topfield PVR?

Will they ship to the US? Even at 500 it seems to have more features than the Pan Sat 6000. I seen them sell it in the UK for 250 GBP. That's about 443 US. They won't ship it international though :(

    Anyone with a Topfield PVR?

Looks like the 4000 does not have AC-3, but the 5000 does. I have seen the 4000 on ebay as well. That seems like the only place to get Topfields for USA customers. :(

    Anyone with a Topfield PVR?

Hi. I'm new to the FTA arena. I have been doing a lot of reading the past week. I decided on getting a receiver with PVR in it. I saw Iceberg's good review of the PanSat 6000 so I started doing more research on PVRs. I came across the Topfield PVR (5000 Line) with 160GB HD! It's about $50...
