    LNA vs. LNB Feedhorn

Thanks! I thought that was the case, but it's been so long since I've worked with this stuff I couldn't remember if there was something different about the probe for an LNA or not.

    LNA vs. LNB Feedhorn

I have an old dual C-band feedhorn that was used on an LBA system, but I would like to used it with an LNB - is there any difference in feedhorns between LNA and LNB?

Is PBS (W4-16) gone from analog?

Someone in the control room must have flipped the wrong switch, because it's now working.

    PBS on AMC-4/16 (analog)

Well it looks like PBS on AMC-4/16 (analog) is still there. It's a mirror of the programming on PBS-HD, actually it' been that way for weeks. I thought I remember reading awhile ago where there was some government mandate that PBS had to keep this in-the-clear.

    PBS on AMC-4/16 (analog)

In looking at this weeks PBS Sked-X programming listing they list Thursday (2/12/09) as "off-air" - are they eliminating their analog C-band feed?

    Help with chaparral LNB

Corotor is a type of feedhorn, it's not an LNB, but the LNBs do attach to it. The Corotor has a single port for one C-band LNB. The Corotor-II has two ports for both a C and Ku-band LNBs. Both types of Corotor feedhorns use a polarotor servo motor (the blue box mounted on top) to set...

    C-Band pointing

I don’t know what the capabilities of the Viewsat or Pansat are, but my suspicion was that the ‘motor’ was already connected to something that could move the dish. Also, it was late last night when I responded and didn’t notice that it was an 8’ dish that might be a bit on the small side for the...

    C-Band pointing

I assume you're trying to get RTP Internacional America off of Intelsat-805 at 55.5°WL, xpdr 16V, because that and the one on 27.5°WL are the only RTP feeds I could find on C-band. Provided you can physically 'see' that bird it shouldn't be any problem, a horizon-to-horizon mount will definitely...

Slaved analog C band receiver, need to "simulate" actuator

I can't offer much help, but I can confirm that University Network (most C-banders will recognize this as "Doc Scott") is vertical polarity, and the ABC network feed on IA-8/14 is horizontal. The reference to reverse (or inverted) and normal polarity is an old designation that was used to...

    Any S.C.P.C audio left?

I still have my SCPC receiver connected as well as the FM2 receiver and the little black box that use to display stock market quotes... I think it was TBS or WGN that transmitted that data... does any of this stuff have any use anymore? I've been out of the TVRO loop for a few years and recently...

    Question about Galaxy 11

Warner Bros is on xpdr #1 and appears to be a good strong signal. I’m using a Coolsat-5000 and auto/blind scan would not recognize any DVB signal on that transponder... the only way I was able to get them was to download the channels from the receiver to the computer and manual add the 3...

    C-Band Satellite at 74-Deg W

I found a blank video carrier (analog) on xpdr 5V (3.8000 GHz), neither Lyngsat or SatcoDX show a C-band in that position and the last satellite I have any record of being there is Galaxy-6 when it was co-located with SBS-6. Is there some recent satellite that was launched testing in that spot...

Need to Clean / Paint feedhorn

The white powdery stuff down inside the feedhorn throat probably isn’t going to hurt anything to just leave it alone, chances are that you might do more damage should out hit the probe inside trying to clean it out (I forget what the official name of that thing is! But, I think you know what I...

    SBS6 has always been fuzzy

SBS-6 is actually a relatively high-power Ku satellite. However, what some uplinkers will do is take a full transponder and split it into two, an upper and lower which cuts the effective radiated power in half. Sometimes you’ll see slate that say “XPDR-9U” or XPDR-9L” the U & L are for the upper...
