What do you consider the most unbreakable records in sports?

I can't believe nobody has mentioned these stats... 1) Cal Ripken Jr. - 2632 consecutive games started, this is an insane record, no active streek is even remotely close. Miguel Tejada made it half way there, but that ended last season. 2) Ty Cobb - .366 lifetime batting average, after 23...

SEC vs. Big 12- Let's debate

Yeah, Michigan has done a good job of keeping the SEC vs Big 10 rivalry in check. The SEC leads the all time series against the Big 10, and without Michigan, the SEC would have a completely overwhelming record against the Big 10. Michigan is the only Big 10 team that seems to have the SEC...

SEC vs. Big 12- Let's debate

So, your big case against the SEC is Auburn and Vanderbilt? HA HA HA, LOL, ROTFLMAO, LOL, HA HA HA. OK, I'm done laughing. I like how you picked two bad SEC teams to compare to the two best Big 12 teams. That's like me comparing LSU and Alabama to Colorado and Baylor. Auburn stinks this year and...

    Auburn OC Tony Franklin FIRED!

This "Tony Franklin Spread Offense" has been a complete disaster for Auburn, and I figured this was coming, I'm just surprised it happened so soon. Franklin had to go, but I think Coach Tuberville deserves another chance, though a lot of disgruntled fans are also calling for him to be fired...

Why There Will be an SEC Network

I agree about the Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial/Raycom remark. I hate those broadcasts, it's like they are using leftover video equipment from the 1970s. Everytime I want to watch one of those games I have to adjust the brightness on my TV just so I can see it, I never have to do this for...

Players you wish your favorite team never traded

I think I've got a good one... In 2001 tha Atlanta Falcons traded the fifth overall pick in the first round, their third-round pick, their second-round pick in 2002 and wide receiver Tim Dwight. In exchange Atlanta got San Diego's #1 draft slot. Atlanta drafted Michael Vick #1 San Diego...

Terry Bowden wants to coach West Virginia

and here's how it likely happened... Terry Bowdon - "Hey dad, nobody will let me coach, and I really, really want to coach..and, and, and.... now, there's this cool job, at WVU, and I said I wanted it but they haven't responded" (Wipes tears) Papa Bowdon - "Calm down son, I know the...

Terry Bowden wants to coach West Virginia

This is interesting... IF Terry Bowden becomes the next West Virginia head coach, guess who would be the first team he faces..... Auburn. WVSports.com - WVU Future Football Schedules

Terry Bowden wants to coach West Virginia

He's been out of coaching ever since he left Auburn after learning he would be fired after the '98 season. As a staunch Auburn fan I can tell you, the guy can coach, but his recruiting left a lot to be desired. He had early success at Auburn when he was coaching Pat Dye's players, but things...

    Petrino resigns from Falcons

I'll be shocked if he finishes 2 full seasons at Arkansas much less 3. Actualy he may not finish his first season. Arkansas doesn't have much returning talent, especially if Mcfadden goes to the NFL. Arkansas will need a couple seasons to build a contending team, much like Atlanta. Petrino...

    Petrino resigns from Falcons

Of course Atlanta needs to rebuild, nobody will argue with that. I though you were implying that there is no way Atlanta could ever win no matter who their coach is or no matter how many years from now. I was meaning to say a coach is important not just in the short run, but the long run...

    Petrino resigns from Falcons

That statement just does'nt make any sense at all. A head coach is extremely important to a team's success. Dan Reeves did a great job in Atlanta, in fact the biggest mistake Arthur Blank EVER made was firing him. Reeves took the Falcons to the Superbowl, then, the year after he was fired...

    Petrino resigns from Falcons

ESPN has a great commentary on Petrino's nomadic nature... ESPN - Petrino couldn't help but hit the road yet again - NFL

    Petrino resigns from Falcons

Yup, Petrino left Auburn's Offensive Coordinator job to coach Louisville, and then 2 years later we had the fiasco where Auburn's President and Athletic Director went behind everybody's back and tried to hire Petrino and fire Turberville the day before the Ironbowl. That fell through and heads...

    Petrino resigns from Falcons

Petrino has a history of bolting jobs. If he has a good year in Arkansas, he'll be onto a new "better" job in no time at all. If I was an Arkansas fan, I wouldn't want him. As far as Arkansas being a good move, you people are crazy! Arkansas has an unrealistic and unappreciative fanbase...

    Vick gets 23 months

I guess Vick is getting a Jury trial for the state charges. Once the jury is aware he is serving time in a federal prison for the same crime, I would imagine they will go easy on him...I would. Just doesn't sit right with me that someone can be charged in two courts for the act of a single crime.

    Vick gets 23 months

I just found a good article from the Wall Street Journal that describes the issue. Looks legal, but I don't like it at all, personally. Apparently dual trials like this are pretty rare. September 25, 2007, 4:59 pm Michael Vick & the “Dual Sovereignty” Doctrine Posted by Peter Lattman Michael...

    Vick gets 23 months

I understand that, but isn't he being charged witht the exact same crimes in the state and federal courts? Seems like double jeopardy to me.

    Vick gets 23 months

Now don't take this the wrong way, I am no Vick supporter, In fact I think he is scum. But isn't there a law stating you can not be tried as a criminal for the same crime twice? It doesn't quite sit right with me that the state and feds can both charge him and try him for the same crime. Am...

    Vick gets 23 months

I am actually surprised he got 23 months, I was expecting 12-15 months. One thing I haven't heard is anything about the possibilty of parole. Has anybody heard anything about if/when he might be eligible?

    New York Yankees

If that were true, then my Braves would have won more than one world series in the 90's when they had the best pitching staff in baseball from 1991 - 1999

    New York Yankees

True that, makes you wonder how much they will hurt next year when he is playing somewhere else? Maybe the Yankees will sign Andruw Jones, he can hit .220 with 25 home runs and 90 RBI, that should be worth about 25 mil a year from Streinbrenner....LOL
  24. shugo77

    New York Yankees

May be old news, but still soooo fun to point out... Cleveland Indians Payroll $61 million NY Yankees Payroll $195 million = Steinbrenner is a moron that thinks he can buy championships :D
  25. shugo77

    New York Yankees

Once again the Yankees have proven that money cannot buy championships. The Yankees losing in the first series is a beautiful thing. I can't wait to watch Streinbrenner melt down over the next couple of days, it should be fun to watch. :D
