In most cases I pick up my pizza as I have a few places just so close like Pizza Hut, Checkmate Pizza and my fav Sal's. Now during football Sunday I tend to have it delivered. My orders are always between 15-20 bucks and I always tip 5 bucks "unless" I get cold Pizza and I can't remember the last time that happened. The last time I got cold pizza I gave the driver two bucks and got his name and car make and model and told him to wait as I called the store to complain. It turns out the manager fired him when he got back. I also got a fresh hot order of Pizza delivered by another guy who told me thanks as they the other drivers wanted him gone. This was in Florida but I was glad the manager took care of the problem.

I say if I can't afford an extra 3 bucks I can't afford the pizza being delivered. Also I in some ways feel like I should give a bigger tip to make up for some of the people who IMO knowingly screw the drivers. I'm sorry but everybody knows that pizza delivery drivers make their living on tips only. Now the easy fix to all this crap is for companies to quit being cheapskates and make them delivery employees that make 20 bucks an hour but only work four hours a day but they also work inside between orders too. Having employees working inside and doing deliveries who have consistant income, stability and benefits such a health insurance can be great for a company. I for one would pick that company to do business with (as long as they have decent pizza) because I would rather support a company who really treats their drivers/workers as family instead of slaves requiring the goodwill of others.

If they don't want to deal with that maybe the drivers should have the right to ban an address from all delivery if they don't tip the proper amount. I've seen this done and its 100% legal and fair. If those people want delivery and are on the banned list they must pay via credit/debit card only and the bill will include the tip and I've seen that done as well. If they aren't happy with this they can pick the pizza up and pay with cash.

Having pizza delivered to your house isn't a right and any company can decide not to deliver pizza to your address as long as its not because of race, age etc. But if you don't tip that is enough legal grounds for a company to refuse delivery.

Lucky for me I live in a very good tipping state so I don't feel out of place at all as I'm the norm not the exception.

I've never agreed with the idea of a "proper" amount for a tip.
In my opinion, a tip must be earned, not expected.

I've never agreed with the idea of a "proper" amount for a tip.
In my opinion, a tip must be earned, not expected.

It is flatout common knowledge and expected that pizza delivery drivers "if" they deliver hot pizza in a timely manner should receive no less than 2 bucks per 10-15 bucks ordered. It can be a tad bit more or less. Going by your logic if you walk into a chain like Denny's and your waiter does a good job he shouldn't be given the proper (aka common knowledge tip) which is known as 15% of the bill total "not" counting discount coupons for example. That is the proper amount but I do agree if the waiter or delivery person didn't do a good job the proper amount no longer exists.

Honestly I cannot stand many of the people from Canada who continue to tip based on the customs of their own country and "not" the custom of the country they are eating at. Most of Canada pays their waiters minimum wage so they only tip a small amount say around five percent. But they don't even bother to care to find out the way things are in the USA and because of this they could eat at a Denny's in the USA and get great service and leave 5%. You tell me how that is fair to that worker.

I'm sure you didn't mean to come off like the above but you did when the quote that no proper amount exists because it sure as heck does and its 15 fricking percent. It shouldn't be earned because some people would expect the waiter to kiss his fricking ass and never make them wait one second for say a drink refill. If you get drink refills within a timely manner after asking that is good service. If you meal comes out in a timely manner its good service. Also say if your meal doesn't come out until much later than expected don't always assume and punish the waiter because maybe just maybe a cook didn't bother to show up which isn't in the control of your waiter now is it.

You only judge a waiter on what he can control and remember that they still are human so a drink refill might take two minutes to get after asking. This all isn't subjective or in the eye of the beholder its normal common sense. If you have to wait in line for 45 minutes at Walmart should you expect Walmart to give you a 10% discount because of the wait.......hell fricking no!!!!

Sorry about being so mean with this thread and it isn't as much attacking you or anyone here as it is being so pissed off at how I saw a waiter treated this afternoon. This waiter was one of the better ones at this place and this customer treated him like a vile horrid piece of crap for no good reason. This man was close to breaking up in tears until the manager of the place kicked the customers out via a ride in a police car for assault and yes it was really that bad.

Again this wasn't directed at you but more about me standing up for the rights of our fellow waiters after what I saw today.

Bullsh!t. I remember when the "expected" amount was 10%, yet it keeps going up. Some say now you're supposed to double the tax, and other say 20%.
I tip is call a gratuity for a reason, it's for gratitude. It should be earned, not expected. If it's expected, then put it on the damn bill.

The Canada comment doesn't apply to me, because I'm originally from Georgia, and spend most of the year in Pennsylvania.
And guess what, down in Georgia we expected our waiters to earn their tips.
fyi in Canada, people typically tip PST + GST which right now is 14%.

Want a good tip, then do a good job. Do a mediocre job, and that's the tip you get.

First I "never" said a tip should be given for poor service. But sadly your not smart enough to google the fact that nearly all waiters and pizza delivery people don't even get minimum wage. They get somewhere between two and three bucks an hour and its much closer too two bucks an hour. Nearly "all" of their hourly pay goes towards their taxes so they don't see much of anything. So these workers make "all" of their living from those tips buddy. So if they don't do a good job they don't get tips and at some point they must quit because they aren't making money.

I think Pizza delivery workers have it far worse than a waiter because unlike a waiter the driver also must pay all his car expenses and most of the gas with those tips so he/she takes home even less.

Again I fully 100% agree with you that bad service doesn't deserve a tip. But for you to sit here and say your being nice to them by giving them a tip when they provide good service is a fricking insult at the least. Your not being nice your providing his paycheck. How the heck would you like it if you boss came into your office and said you don't deserve half of your paycheck this week even though you did your job and earned every cent of that money. I would assume you would be pissed as all get out wouldn't you.

I hope my post may have opened your eyes to the real world which your not living in or too stupid to see the real world. Oh and the reason tip amounts have gone up is for that little thing called cost of living. How would you like working your job for the same wage they paid people in 1930 because I'm sure you wouldn't like that either. Its the same reason taxes go up too ya know. Its the same reason milk and food go up in price too in case you didn't notice. Yeah I wish a cheeseburger at McDonald's still cost 10 cents like it did when my dad was growing up.

yes i do enjoy a nice can of soda while working in somoenes hot attic for 20mins :) and as a cable tech during my service days, I always went above and beyond what BHN expected and what the customer expected. If a customer called for a problem on say 1 tv, id check EVERY tv in the house before I left usally finding other problems thge customer did not know they had and were usally always impressed with my ability to do my job and I got alot more tips then the other guys in my office, they just couldnt figure out how saying "I must kiss customers ass" I simpley reply No I do my job. And its funny sometimes working in the High Class areas (like isleworth where say tiger woods lived or wesley snipes) Multi million dallor homes, id get a 20 or the highest I got was a 100$ bill from one guy, for doing his home theatre, Im thankful for it and ya know I always deny the tip first, second, then accept it on the third (the two no policy) But the tip I appreciated the most, (not that it wasnt appreciated from that guy, was when I was in a very poor nieghborhood, perhaps an old mobile home or something and an elderly lady once gave me a hand full of change, It was maybe a buck 50 or so, but you know what? I wouldnt doubt if that was every dime she at to her name at time, and it was truely the thought that she thought I did such a good job that she gave me all she had. Its not just her but many people Ya know getting a 1 or 2$ tip from someone who obviously is barely getting by is a nice jesture, but that said I also dont expect Say tiger woods to tip way more just because he has more. Although getting ahand full of change from him would seem an insult :P

Yup some of the BHN techs I've had have been very good and I respect anyone who goes into a Florida attic in the summer with all the animals that can be up there. I heard about one case in my area when a ceiling fan installer needed to enter an attic to install it and ended being bit by a rattle snake that was hiding. Because of the small place he was in he ended up getting bit around 10-15 times while backing up until he fell out of the attic about thirty feet onto a tile floor and breaking both legs and one arm. I was amazed and shocked this never ended up in the newspapers or on local news because I was watching to find out if the guy lived or not. I ended up calling Largo Medical Center and found out the guy did live but had about a year or so of a painful recovery. It was really a very sad thing but the guy was lucky that his wife had health insurance because man oh man he would be really broke right now.

I must say I agree with everything you just said and yes its quite amazing how some of the older folk without much money at all are so kind to tip like they do and yes its not much for us or the worker but when you know its everything for her it makes you really smile sometimes.
Derwin0

And since food prices go up, then the tip amount will go up even at the same percentage, little thing called math.

And yes I know that waiters get paid sub-minimum wage, I also know that the employer is required to plus up the wages to minimum wage if the wages+tips fall below minimum wage. So before you call someone stupid because they don't agree with you, you should first get all the facts. Flaming from a staff member is a pretty piss poor thing to have happen.

I do generally tip well, especially if it's deserved, but I refuse to whip out the calculator for it because someone expects it. Again, if expected, put it on the bill.
Bogy
A few weeks back the pizza delivery guy from our local Pizza Ranch got a very good (but unintended) tip. The order was for about $50, my son had a bunch of friends over. My wife had paid the guy, and had given him a $10 tip, our customary 20%. Some of these kids eat at our house a lot, and one of them wanted to help out, so he gave another kid $10 to give to my wife. Instead, he gave it to the delivery guy. We had another $50 order last Saturday, but this time I drove the 5 blocks and picked it up myself.
digiblur
We don't order delivery pizza anymore. I finally just got fed up with the order being cold, messed up, missing items, etc. The delivery thugs/kids just didn't care and would try to leave real quick. Throw the pizza in the door and hurry out of the driveway before the customer noticed.

They just opened a new Papa Murphy's Take and Bake down the street. Awesome prices and awesome food! Plus you cook it so it's freshly cooked right of the oven. Awesome business model. No ovens in the store and no eating area, just make the pizza and give it to the customer. Then the customer gets freshly cooked pizza in their home.

Now on the tipping thing. When my wife and I are eating out I usually use the point system. You start out with 15 points, each one a percent. And no I don't do the 20% deal due to cost of living, the cost of the food has also increased as the cost of living has, so no need to add to it. The server can lose or gain points for their service. I get raked over the coals already by wife when I get pissed about the food being messed up since she used to be a server. But my beef is, if you are a good server you should look at the food you are serving me before you even come out of the kitchen, don't bother bringing it to my table. Takes you two seconds to consult your little tablet if you forgot what I ordered.

But if we get poor service and guarantee we either get a free meal or half off or something every where we go. My wife and I always speak our minds to the manager, no matter if it was poor service or excellent service.

Delivery, whats that? I live in a one stop light town with nothing delivered. Heck we dont even have drive thru except 2 banks. We were happy just to get walk in Dunkin Donuts.

Caught up to the 500... err... k in St. Louis. What a race! Andretti Motorsport were doing very well with Ericsson and Kirkwood, meanwhile Power was moving up the grid. Veekay started cautiously. He was working the tires just right, becoming more lethal later in the stint. Rasmussen was racing likewise, not nearly as insane as he has in the past. Palou was leading the race, in a shocker to all. Caio Collet was having a wonderful ride, making Ferucci potentially sweat a bit. Rain came, rain went, rain came, rain went. Generally mild sprinkles, but enough to pause racing on an oval.

Palou would kind of send Siegel into the wall. Siegel really didn't do much wrong. As he noted, you have to turn at some point. Palou had acres of room below and Siegel might have had his ticket out of Indycar stamped. Dixon was doing the fuel thing and got busted twice by yellows, not pitting before the flag came out. Then the most critical happened... Palou ran out of gas on pit lane, effectively giving Newgarden the race lead and win. Newgarden had a very early pit, so he was able to slide in, get service and go. Meanwhile, everyone else was confused and stuck behind Palou for a bit. Once people figured what was happening, Newgarden had a major advantage of several seconds. Newgarden wouldn't look back and when it went green again, he'd hold the lead for the win.

Massive credit to Juncos Hollinger who bested Penske in getting Veekay out before Malukas in a transition that was oddly bizarre. I haven't had time to check, but I'm wondering if Veekay was about to run out of fuel or cut a tire. He was charging late in a stint, got up to fifth, and then tailed back for a few laps to 10th or 11th. It looked like it was over. Went into the pits, and after the pitting sequence was over, Veekay was well inside the top ten again. It was weird. And he charged, getting up to fourth. He made a late move on Rasmussen, but Rasmussen held his position with some great driving. In fact, there was a ton of incredible racing passing, not passing all race long. Veekay would finish 4th. A podium would have been awesome, but it is a great outcome for a guy who hopefully will get a break with a big team. We saw what Veekay could do with a Honda last season with fuel save, imagine replacing Simpson on Ganassi and having speed to go with fuel saving. His 6th at Indy and 4th at St. Louis get him up to 13th in the points standings and only 5 points outside of the top 10.

Ericsson finished second, resigned to finishing behind the current best in the world guy on a short oval. Rasmussen got the final step on the podium, a nice rebound to what has been an otherwise bad year for him, and a good reward to ECR who just extended his contract.

They raced USAC cars at Daytona once. Once! People died. Aj Foyt said 'f this', and left after the first go around. AJ freaking Foyt thought it was crazy! And cars weren't nearly as fast as they are now.

I think they tried Talladega once too.

So...DirecTV advertises the Choice package with 95+ bonus channels for Satellite customers. You don't want 90+ of the 95...

Excluding PPV, premium networks, infomercial, shopping, religion, and non-English programming, there are 7 channels on satellite that are not on streaming:
NFL Network, MavTV, FE TV, Free Speech, NASA, INSP, and Pursuit. I'm pretty sure a couple of those are public interest that they have to carry to meet an FCC quota on satellite.

I hope they get called out for this advertising because that is ridiculous. One big network, NFL, will probably get added to streaming when their next agreement comes up, and the rest are likely very low viewership.

What about streaming, what do you get extra with the Choice package that isn't on Satellite:
Two stations - one of which is an internet TV - Fox Weather, and Heros & Icons (a diginet). Nothing special here to look at either.

If they cleaned up a couple of their agreements, added a few public interest stations to streaming, they could probably have their lineups match. It's close now, if you take out all the garbage on satellite that they earn money on. If they can sell infomercials on satellite, why can't they on streaming, seems like a miss. A bigger miss, including those stations in the "bonus channels just for satellite customers." Pretty sad marketing right there.

1681344805401.png

Attached is a comparison sheet of satellite vs streaming for the three main packages if anyone is interested.

MOD EDIT: See Post #3 for an up to date list of what channels are available on sat but not on streaming/internet, see Post #21 for an up to date list of what's available in the app for streaming customers, but not for sat customers.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Hello everyone, new guy here. I'm trying to solve problem I'm having with Dish bonus view channels. When I'm watching the bonus view channels then I switch back to regular dish channels, after few minutes the screen flips to black and after 30 seconds flips back to regular channels and continues to flip back and forth until I turn off TV. After I wait 30 minutes and turn back on , I can use regular channels again. So, its after I switch from bonus view channels to regular dish channels the problem starts. Been trying to fix this for a month, but no luck
Here what I've done.
i contacted Dish support and they sent me a new Joey3, but no help. Switched to a different HDMI input on TV, no help. Used different HDMI cable , no help. Used different electrical wall plug, no help.
Finally got a Dish tech to check it. He ran all systems check and was OK. Finally he brought in a small TV and plugged in the HDMI out from the Joey to the small TV. He could not get the problem to occur on his small TV, so the new Joey was working OK. So, then the problem must be myTV. He made some phone calls and came back with the answer that there must be a problem with the analog to digital switch in my TV. Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this, or is it time to be looking for a new TV? My tv LG OLED65C8PUA. TV has been trouble free til now. Thanks

New low power station has been granted by the FCC and the new call leter is K33OB-D on RF ch. 33.

Will run at 15 KW ERP, this one runs from the Westside same location as KWPL-LD a HC2 owned station.

It's going to be aimed at eastern part of Albuquerque, so it's tightly focused beam pattern.

This new station is owned by Digital Network and what kind of programmings is unkown at this time.😎
