Hello everyone,
Well I got my first call from the ad that I put in on Craig's list. Got a call from a lady saying she had 12' footer and I could have if all I had to do was pick it up. She also said it was already taken off the pole. I got there and surer as she said it was off the pole. No Feedhorn, no actuator, and about half of the mesh was missing. I took a look at the back of it to see if it had a name on it. One sticker saying "Unimesh". Looks to be a lot like my Unimesh. Wondering if I should still go and get it and use it for parts? There aren't many good parts there. That's why I didn't bother to take photos of it.
On the other hand I got a very rewarding experience while driving there! Lo and Behold I found a Solid satellite dish that appears to be around 10". Wires are not connected to it any longer. Looking really dirty, abandoned, and neglected. Knocked on the door but no body was home!! L I don't know if that is the way the feedhorn should look like or if its missing a cover?
I think this might be a real FIND! I plan on going back there. If they do give it away….. Just how do I take it down so it won't get damaged? It looks like it has a heavy mount. Should I take the dish off with the mount? Or take off the dish the mount and then take off the mount from the support pole? The solid dish is put together with four sections. Do I leave all the sections together for the trip back here? Look at me, I'm getting excited just talking about it and I haven't even spoken to the owner yet! Keeping my fingers crossed!

I don't think your fiberglass dish is junk, but I wouldn't pay $300 for it, either.
Problem is, a lot of these owners remember the thousands of dollars they cost new.
Well, they're not new now... many want to get rid of 'em.
And they have to pay to have someone take down the dishes and haul 'em away.
So, -free- sounds like a very attractive price.
Then, you haul it home and regret later if you got a dog. -
The mounts and LNBs are often worth the effort, if you are building up a supply like Linuxman is.
I'm waiting for him to open The Satellite Shop, any day now.

Yes thats true. I'm not so sure of paying him 300$$ for it. I guess I could go and buy a brand new one and pay around 2000.$$ for it. But that would suck since there arew so many to get for free! Sure would like to get one where the guy didn't think it was still Solid Gold! And find oput its nothing but a pile of rust!

Didn't see a thread like this so I figured why not start one. This is about natural supplements. If you aren't into supplements, fine, but please let those of us who do want to discuss this discuss it.
The first one I wanted to mention has been a real life changer. I'm 62 and still do all of my own install work at my business....also do all the yard work at the house. A few years ago I started noticing that I was losing my range of movement, it was even getting hard to bend over and lace up my boots. Almost got stuck in an attic because I couldn't get turned around once the work was done. Didn't think much of it and figured with age comes stiffness that was only going to get worse as time went on.
It was then that I stumbled across a video which was discussing rotator cuff tears and why they were to prevalent these days. Turns out, the culprit is a simple deficiency in MANGANESE which is key in keeping your tendons flexible. Most anti-biotics strip your body of any manganese it might have had which is why certain anti-biotics, especially those in the Cipro family. I actually knew a man who had two tendons tear while on that stuff.
Went to Amazon and ordered some manganese. Now it took a while, it wasn't instant, but gradually I have regained all of my flexibility. I can bend over and touch my toes while standing with no pain and putting on my boots is no longer a chore.
Pretty cheap too. The bottle I ordered was a 200 ct for under $13. They said to take double the normal dose for the first month because most people are severely lacking, then go to one a day.

I bought the fixed color version of these bulbs for my store several years ago...work great and no more replacing ballast. Finally had one go out and when I went back to Amazon I saw that now they come in selectable versions so no more guess work as to what color light would do best in a certain area. They are now double OR single ended...used to be strictly one way or the other. If any of you are looking at replacing the old style 4 or 8 ft bulbs, you might want to give these a try. The 8 footers are BRIGHT. I put 5 in my shooting/target shed and you can get a decent tan if you are in there long enough.
