Eastern Arc

I have a dvr and standard reciever hooked up to dish 500. We built on to house and want to add a 2 room hd receiver. I have a 1000.4 dish that i my grandmother had. Will the new receiver work with eastern arc have the updated card and will my other receiver still work with 110 and 119 when i sub to hd locals. Was wanting to install it myself so i can get the reciever for 100 shipped instead of 150 installed.

Thanks for any advice.

I have had several techs come and install dishes over the past years for familly and myself and 4 out of 5 wouldnt know how to boil water. They do poor jobs and no nothing about the equipment they are installing. Then one that installed the system for my grandmother that ended up canceling anyway because she couldnt understand it. 85 years old. Drilled a hole through the window seal for the cable instead of the wall and didnt ground the dish either. One installed it form my mom installed the dish ran cables and was just getting signal on 110 and not 119 said the little tree in yard must be blocking the signal I went and on the roof and got 119 to come in no prob skew was wrong. I have set up many dishes any the past prob 20 or so and i cant stand to pay 50 more dollars to pay for tech to come out and f#@@ everything up. Maybe is because i am in a hick town in kentucky who knows

Lordkron if all the techs knew the fraction of what you knew i wouldnt be complaining. i am not saying i am a expert installer far from it but i gurantee i coulld do 10 times better then the techs i have came in contact with. Yes the dish is grounded to meter and using proper cabling and connectors.

Maybe I missed something...but you do know you can't use a 311 on the eastern arc right?

Yes i know you cant use a 311 i am just wanting a 2 room hd 222 for the extra 2 rooms to use on the eastern arc. Going to keep the dish 500 for the other recievers.

Does anyone know if there is a prob activating receivers bought from somewhere other than dish. I bought a second hand dvr for directv once and when i cancelled they sent me a box and said the reciever belonged to them. Never did get that took care of. I hope its not the same with dish

I have purchased 7 Dish receivers, and not one came from Dish! I had no trouble activating 6 of them. The 7th I could have activated, but didn't want to pay off the $89 balance.

They were high-end specialty, somewhat buggy and the 612/622/722 just overwhelmed it in popularity.

I think they were more of a transitional receiver bridging the VIPs to the Hopper. They were a PITA to install and were buggy. Personally, I thought at the time that they were the best receiver out there. The versatility of the VIP's with the new Hopper GUI and, by far, the coolest-looking front plate and lighting.

Well if it is because of reliability that wouldnt shock me.I went through 5 or 6 of them in little over 2 years. I loved the Sling when it worked! Saved lots of money having it in the day. That was probably 15 or 16 years ago?

I don't recall that they came out just before hopper, but rather that they came out even before 722. Or could be thinking of 921.

As to the title pf the post, "rare" does not necessarily mean valuable or desirable.

You are thinking of the 921. The 922 was the first DVR with Sling functionality built in (that was eventually disabled along with the Sling Adapter for the 722s and the 1st Hopper because they relied on now-defunct Adobe Flash technology). With the bugginess described by others and the removal of its marquee feature (Sling) the 922 faded into obscurity once the Hopper 2 with built in Sling was released and they finally made the concept into a fully functional product.

Has anyone noticed an FF stutter with 713? I used to be able to hit FF a few times and skip smoothly. After 713 (maybe 712), when I skip forward, there is a definite stutter for as many times as I have pressed FF.

Can anyone check on this and report back? Recorded programs and then press skip forward a few times to see if it's smooth? Normally, it just jumps to the right place after the skips.

I'm getting fabulous picture on Ch. 148 4k, but zero audio with H713. This is with a recorded show (Notre Dame game). Anyone else have this? Audio is fine on every other channel.

My wife mentioned that her remote is acting strange this morning. She hit FF and it went to 15x FF.

Had a customer call recently saying their remote was really acting up, some buttons no longer functioned. Told them to reboot the Hopper....problem fixed.

It's a known issue.
For a temporary fix, go into the menu, Audio, and turn Dolby Audio "OFF". You will have PCM stereo audio.

I was able to give the tech ops team some data logs so they could diagnose the problem, and they rolled me back to H708 temporarily. It fixed that issue.

They let me know that they understand what caused the issue, and it will be fixed within a few weeks in a new update.

I guess they will be busy when lots of people start asking for rollbacks to H708 now that you mention that downgrades of software does exist because it will likely fix the OTA Single Tuner and the IR Remote problems in H710-H713.

The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

Well, there are a couple involving the Antarctic. "Solitudes", S1 E17 (one of my favorites), Then, "Lost City', S7 E21 and E22. Then, in the SGA pilot, "Rising", S1 E1 and E2, it starts out in the Antarctic for about the first 20 minutes or so.

Star Trek: Starfleet Academy - Paramount+

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that.
