For the past while I've been struggling with getting RTN. First it was the wrong azimuth, then it was the wrong LNB spacing, then it was a mystery signal that was overtaking RTN. Then a rainstorm hit and my remaining signal went kaput (from 66 down to about 25 on Coolsat 5K).
Then I remembered an obscure website I once saw where a guy cut off the bottom of a plastic bottle and put around his LNB to help alleviate rain fade and interference. I couldn't find the website again, so I struck out on my own. I used the bottom half of a 16 oz. plastic cup. I cut out the bottom and fixed it to the LNB with electrical tape (see attached photos). I went back inside and my signal quality had jumped back to 70.
I don't know if it was a coincidence or if this really worked. If this is what truly fixed my problem, then more people need to hear about it.

Upon further thought, this whole cup thing makes perfect sense for the signal in question. RTN, on it's less-than-shoestring budget, undoubtedly cobbles stuff up all the time. They've probably got the top half of a hacked-off 5 gallon plastic bucket, jammed onto the end of their uplink transmitter, to get that feeble signal out!

Well.....it's been over a week since I installed "the cup" and the RTN signal has been stable ever since. This morning I did loose the signal for about 15 minutes between 10:30and 11 am, of course we are having a major league storms with possible tornados in the area. It's now pouring down rain with heavy cloud cover and I am still getting a 60% signal. I am pretty sure the cup has something to do with this improvement.

I also had problems with KHIZ, a weak station out of Bristow, CA on G 17, C Band. Now it coming in loud and clear.
My thoughts on this: Maybe the signal is spread out and weak and all of it was not getting into the feed horn. By putting on "the cup," maybe it is helping to funnel more of the signal to the feed horn which helps the LNB. Man, all I know is that I am watching signals that I had trouble getting.

But.....if you like Tulsa King....looks like you would probably like this as well. I don't mind spin-offs as long as they don't involve a sassy niece who moves from the big cityAnother Tulsa King spin off.
I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

Might be worth a watch when it comes out. Looks like typical big corp against the little guy movie BUT....there is a reason this plot type is so oft repeated, it draws audiences.

If you're going try to read / listen to the book (can't recommend the audio book enough) before this comes out, I'd avoid trailers.
Trailer below, spoiling it to make sure you read the above bold message first. The book / audio book are fantastic. Go into this blind if you can IMO!
Kind of disappointed at how much they show. A lot still to see, but man, some good reveals in the book that are just served up here.
