Hello to all,

I've been a member for over a year but have never posted so first hello and thanks to all who contribute to making this a great site.

I'm in the process of replacing my rooftop-mounted Fortec Star 1M dish with something more rigid that doesn't lose it's parabolic shape in light/moderate windy conditions. So I recently obtained a new in box Channel Master 84e and a used P* dish (74e I think).

The 84e dish came complete but had a strange looking rectangular feed arm with a dual feed holder and one eagle aspen LNB off to one side (I'll try to attach some pictures). All the P* dishes I have seen have the traditional rounded triangular rib on the top side of the arm.

What I was wanting to do was to put a traditional P* type arm on the 84e to bring the feed back to the center. I have only one TV so one feed centered seems like a better choice than a feed off to one side of a dual feed holder (please correct me if I'm wrong).

In my quest I got what was described as an 84e feed arm from a P* dish but when comparing it to the arm on the 74e dish it is identical. When comparing those P* arms to the strange rectangular arm that came with the 84e the two P* arms bring the feed about 3/8-1/2 inch closer to the dish than the rectangular arm.

I'm pretty confused as to what I've got and I'm hoping someone can help me sort this out. Are the 74e and 84e arms identical or did I just end up with 2 74e arms? What is the actual length of the arm for a P* 84e? If I switch to a P* arm to bring the feed to the center of the dish can I still use that brand new feed from the rectangular arm or should I use the "Dove bar" feed on the P* 74e arm?

Measuring the bottom of the feedhorn arm an 84e is 21" long and a 75e arm is 19 1/2" long. A 84e elliptical feedhorn measures 3 1/2" top to bottom and a 75e feedhorn measures 2 5/8". If you look on the back of your dish there should be a mold number stamped on it as 84e or 75e.

I also have one of those dual mounts from a WSnet dish and will reconfirm that it is for 6 degree spacing...I have the owners manual. They used two 75e feedhorns on an 84e dish because as you say...so they wouldn't physically bump into each other.

I would also agree to use the larger elliptical feedhorn(84e) however if you have the shorter 75e arm you will still be under illuminating the dish because its not stepping out as much away from the dish and getting a total view of the dish. In this instance the 75e or 84e feedhorn would give the same result(I think !!). At any rate you want to use an elliptical feedhorn(as opposed to a round feedhorn) on an elliptical dish.

I found out (thanks to all of you sharing your measurements) that I had only 84e arms all along. Even my 75e came with an 84e arm - fine for what I want to do with the 84e dish (bring it back to a "stock" P* feed setup) and bad for when I find a use for the 75e.. I'll need to locate a 75e arm somewhere down the road.

Thats great news...you can shorten one of your 84e arms with a hacksaw and drill a new hole in it for the mounting bolt thereby making it a 75e arm. You got to shorten it by 1 1/2" and the mounting hole sits back just about 1 3/16". The center insert threads with your mounting bolt and slides right out.

Thanks Phlat and Ziggy,

I got one of my "extra" 84e arms from Impakt (it came today). I ordered it a few days back when I thought I had only 75e arms !sadroll ... then I got all the measurements from this thread.

Thats an interesting idea about shortening the 85e arm. There is no difference in the 75e and 84e lnb holders' heights or angles? Its only the length of the arm?

"Thats an interesting idea about shortening the 85e arm. There is no difference in the 75e and 84e lnb holders' heights or angles? Its only the length of the arm? "

The only difference is the length of the arm. I have placed both arms on the patio next to each other in my response to you to take accurate measurments...they look identical in every other way except for the length.

Attached are some pictures...please note how the beginning of my tape measure catches some length from the slant on the LNB holder. Also note that the bolt is an 8.8 metric.

This probably goes without saying but I will say it anyway. In order to make this modification near factory perfect I would draw a line all the way around the arm; hacksaw from different sides slightly above my line and file smoothly so as to get a square cut. I would also drill pilot holes 1 3/16" down on each side from my square cut to make sure the holes for the bolt was straight. If you look closely at your dish you will see that the arm butts up against a lip on the back of the dish...measure the distance from this lip to the threaded hole to see if it is in fact 1 3/16". You want this arm to butt up tight to the lip so that it doesn't swivel.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Simple, charming. Entire premise is quite silly but Cary Grant carries it across the line in good fashion.

Since it was already "paid" for, I spent the two hours of my time watching the John Cena action movie on Apple TV, "Matchbox The Movie" even though the reviews were brutal. It was better than I expected, so I didn't feel like I had wasted an afternoon watching it. But it felt like another "Reacher"/"Neghley"/"Mission: Impossible"/"Fast & Furious" crash and blow stuff up with lots of automatic gunfire mixed in movie featuring covert CIA operatives.

I don't think we'll get a follow-up movie from this. I expect Mattel will have other toy lines to exploit.

PISTONS and THUNDER are finally testing on the stream server. PISTONS is showing the Ion/Scripps Sports promo loop filler that their NHL and WNBA feeds have, THUNDER has a "You are watching Thunder+" slate

The Clippers still haven't officially announced their TV plans beyond 10 simulcasts on KTLA, but the NBA's FAQ for ClipperVision is now live. The CLIPPERS feed is currently showing a loop of their Hawaii preseason game.

The Heat still haven't announced their West Palm Beach or Fort Myers affiliates. Since WPLG is streaming the games for free via their app, I doubt we'll be seeing the return of WPLG on stream.

So far nothing testing for the Bucks, Magic, Hawks or Hornets.

West Palm Beach is getting it on WTCN-CD/43 MNT. Still nothing for Fort Myers

Also, the Thunder's deal for KSBI/52 OKC and KQCW/19 Tulsa will be via a special cable and DIRECTV only feed of those stations. OTA viewers and Dish customers will be limited to 10 games.

Not seeing 44 (WVBT-DT/44 CW Norfolk ) on my D* app for firestick

It's only available for streaming customers, they still haven't added that batch of CW stations to satellite.

Even if it was, satellite customers still can't stream their CW affiliates via the app, just the Big 4, select PBS stations and some independents (mainly the ones that have full season NHL/NBA rights)

Be nice to see a Cowboy headline like that.
Yes the Cowboys owner needs to fire the general manager (himself), co-owner, Chief Operating Officer (COO), Executive Vice President, Director of Player Personnel, and President of AT&T Stadium (his son) and then he should jump off of a cliff. Only then can they recover.

Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson had an argument about who was responsible for the dynasty building of the early 90's Cowboys.

The rest of us figured it out in about 3 years, Jerry has had over 30 years but still can't admit it. It's all he lives for, to show everyone he can put together a winner. I don't think he can. His kids only know what he taught them.

Odd that out there, Prem is only 40 cents higher. Here it's a full dollar more.

Last night it was about $4.17 gas, $6,19 diesel.

On the West Coast, a 40-cent differential is common. It used to be 30 cents before the prices rose above $3.

A "full dollar more" sounds like it may be boat gas (non-alcoholic), which is a whole different discussion.

Both non-ethanol and prem run about the same....buck more. When we were up in TN it was a buck more up there as well.

In Oregon, our premium boat gas is about a dollar more than our corn premium. Several stations only offer the non-corn premium grade.
