Hello, I recently picked up a Coolsat 7100 pvr off ebay and except for no ability to edit my satellite list I am very happy with it.

Thinking that maybe they addressed this in a later version of software I went to coolsatusa.com only to find one of those lame placeholder websites that the domain name traders put up.

Does anyone know what happened to Coolsat's website? Did the company go under or did the site move? If the worst has happened and coolsat is no more does anyone know where I might be able to download coolsat software still?

Factory software

Here are all of the 'factory' files I know of that were released over the life of the CS7100.

Also for your enjoyment:
- a copy of the user manual
- channel editor for the 7000 which also works for the 7100 (though it's been a while since I used it so I don't remember exactly how, but Iceberg originally found it for me so it's probably documented here somewhere)
- a file that provides the remote codes for an older version of SlingPlayer (I don't remember how to install that one either).

I learned shortly after getting the thing that its primary purpose was to steal dish network, if you look at any of the eyepatch firmwares it is obvious that it was either done in-house, or by a group which had been given easy access to the original source code and development tools. Some of them actually work better for true FTA than the factory versions, though that was no doubt entirely unintentional. Especially if you want to build a weird config, say a couple of FTA dishes behind a dish SW21 switch. I will *not* be uploading any of those versions here, nor will I entertain any accusation that I might have obtained or used any of them at all for any purpose at any time.

Thanks a lot! This is what I was looking for. That channel editor you speak of is for editing the Sat table too? I just have a Ku setup here and I have all these C band entries that I'd like to program to Ku sats - I can't even reprogram the four "user" sat entries in that table - its utter craziness.

While we're on that other topic of these boxes being used for alternative, illegal purposes I too am in no way interested in obtaining service illegally. My interest in this STB begins and ends with using it for FTA. Finding out what I need to do to get a sat list in the box that is somewhat relevant to what I have on my roof instead of this stock one-size-fits-all hodgepodge list will already be more than I'd ever want to know about this box.

Hey Pepper, FYI: That CoolSat editor exe appears to be infected. Below is the line from my AV program that stopped the download:

C:\.....\Coolsat7000-editor.zip » ZIP » Coolsat7000-editor.exe - probably a variant of Win32/Hupigon trojan
qwert1515
C:\.....\Coolsat7000-editor.zip » ZIP » Coolsat7000-editor.exe - probably a variant of Win32/Hupigon trojan

AVG Free flags it as "Runtime packed nspack".

From AVG's Forum: Run-time packed means:
The file was packed with one of less common run-time packers,
which may indicate an attempt to prevent scanning of such file.
However, not every report of such file indicates a virus.
M
sadly no. The Visionsats and Coolsat 7000/7100/8100/8000 models do not work with Channelmaster

I have a Coolsat 7000, and I can't get the channel editor to do anything useful at all.

But I don't have any problem modifying any of the satellites, "user" or predefined, with the menus on the Coolsat itself. (I'm not sure if I ever tried to rename a predefined satellite, but I can rename the user ones.) The only thing I can't do is delete a satellite entirely.

I seem to be able to rename sats but I can't change their coordinate location. For example, I can rename Brasilsat B4 (C) to whatever name I want but I can't change the 92.0W position. I suppose I could switch those to diseq and manually position and store it. Seems like quite a backwards approach though.

I use ESET NOD32 AV and it actually "deep scans" compressed (packed) files (i.e. decompress then scan the content). So the coolsat editor exe inside was what had a suspicious signature.

Having said that false alarms are possible. Anyway just a heads up to you guys.

Sadly I have a Coolsat 4000 somewhere in the garage, but lazy to move all the boxes around.. not worth it
M
dude...get that 4000 out...works great for blind scanning :)

I don't have a Coolsat, but on my box, the coordinates are only changeable when I set it to USALS.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

I'm getting fabulous picture on Ch. 148 4k, but zero audio with H713. This is with a recorded show (Notre Dame game). Anyone else have this? Audio is fine on every other channel.

It's a known issue.
For a temporary fix, go into the menu, Audio, and turn Dolby Audio "OFF". You will have PCM stereo audio.

I was able to give the tech ops team some data logs so they could diagnose the problem, and they rolled me back to H708 temporarily. It fixed that issue.

They let me know that they understand what caused the issue, and it will be fixed within a few weeks in a new update.

I guess they will be busy when lots of people start asking for rollbacks to H708 now that you mention that downgrades of software does exist because it will likely fix the OTA Single Tuner and the IR Remote problems in H710-H713.

Stargate SG-1 cancelled, Atlantis renewed

The future of Stargate is in question today, as SCI FI Channel has cancelled the long-running Stargate SG-1, Multichannel News reported today and a GateWorld source has confirmed. The news regrettably follows the airing of the show's milestone two-hundredth episode on Friday.

Stargate Atlantis, meanwhile, has been renewed for a fourth season, with the network hoping to see that the spin-off series can stand alone, according to a source.

I have gotten back into watching SG-1 and I have recorded most of the episodes to binge watch. What episodes are about the Antarctic or was this a movie? Also where could I watch the SG-1 movies?

Well, there are a couple involving the Antarctic. "Solitudes", S1 E17 (one of my favorites), Then, "Lost City', S7 E21 and E22. Then, in the SGA pilot, "Rising", S1 E1 and E2, it starts out in the Antarctic for about the first 20 minutes or so.

Which one has O'Neil being Ancients? I am at the end of Season 8 now.

If I understand your question, O'Neill had the Ancient's knowledge in the "Lost City" two-part episode. That was when Anubis attacked Earth and there was a big battle over Antarctica.
