My Pansat 9200HD is worse than ever with the latest '1226' firmware and DVB-S2 Plus tuner module installed. As we have discussed in other threads the issues concerning this abomination of a satellite receiver, it does have it's positive attributes.

In recent email exchanges with Pansat USA's Customer Service Rep Mr. Hugo Montenegro, he explains that a larger dish is necessary for the proper function of this receiver with the new DVB-S2 Plus tuner module. I do agree that it may not work as well with smaller C-band dishes so I have installed a 10.5 ft dish that has no increase on the performance. In fact my 8 ft solid BUD works better in spite of what they say. At this point, all of the problems I've been experiencing are not associated with DVB-S2 signals yet Mr. Hugo Montenegro insists it's a dish size problem.

I'm not having any DVB-S2 signal problems to emphasize, there are other issues concerning the PVR function, the time setting modes and the PVR timer settings and DVB-S problems that I have itemized to Mr. Montenegro. I wrote to him 2 days ago again explaining these other issues and he replies with the same response of it being a dish size problem. Well, I gather the fact that he must not have read my email thoroughly as he did not even mention the PVR and timer issues. I wrote back asking him to read my message again and still awaiting his reply.

The PVR functionality is worse than ever, the option to set the clock manually is disabled, no way to set it up in 'User mode' and the PVR recording timer is useless if I can't set the clock to my time because time varies with individual TP's and not to mention the other malfunctions of the timer.

When watching any channel either it be DVB-S or DVB-S2 signals I occasionally get a "No Signal" pop-up message in spite of an uninterrupted and a perfect audio/video with any quality signal regardless if it's 70% or 99%, it doesn't matter, I watch more SD channels than HD. This doesn't occur with other receivers tested on the same line feed. Since all the new problems I've experienced with the new DVB-S2 Plus tuner module and the '1226' firmware, I've hardly used this stb for any recordings due to the frequent malfunctions. I find it necessary to frequently reboot the stb with a full power-off cycle to hopefully clear any congestion in memory prior to any recordings and/or playback.

To my surprize, I successfully recorded a recent movie on FMC without any glitches. Later that day after rebooting the stb and giving it a few minutes to stabilize I started the playback and within 2 minutes the stb froze up with the video image that I have posted in the photo, this has occured more than once. It was necessary to power off the stb as it was not responding to any local or remote commands. I restarted the playback and this time it played successfully. At this point I consider this box to be unpredictable and unreliable for any usage especially for PVR recordings and playback.

Unfortunately many of people have purchased this model and may be experiencing similar and/or other problems. I have been faithfully sending my reports of all issues to Panarex/Pansat USA customer service rep Mr. Hugo Montenegro asking for his assistance. My voice has little to no impact on them so I am asking and encouraging all 9200HD owner's to email Mr. Hugo Montenegro explaining your concerns. Let our voices be heard, if we consistantly and faithfully send our reports to them with our combined efforts then hopefully they will step up and do something.

It won't do us any good if we don't speak up, numbers mean something. Please, I don't want to hear negative replies about how futile this is because it's not, I didn't invest $500 for nothing and neither have you! It doesn't matter how insignificant the problem may seem, it's our voice that matters, United We Stand!

Please take a few minutes to write to Mr. Hugo Montenegro at Pansat USA and explain your issues and ASK for your deserving customer support. Customer support should not end after the sale, after all they did sell this box with a 2 year warranty and regardless of warranty, the DVB-S2 Plus tuner module is a whole new issue with it's related firmware.
Please write to: Mr. Hugo Montenegro pansatusa@cs.com

Thanks to all of you :)

> Heck it wouldn't play the Access America feed yesterday even though I had 52 percent quality!

I have had this problem as well. The answer is to press the mute button, switch to the Access America radio channel from another radio channel, and then press the mute button again. The audio should then pop in. The 9200 software seems to be the worst written product since Microsoft wrote Millennium Edition.

I think there is some misunderstanding regarding the optional satellite tuner card for the TC1000. Pansat is calling it the S3 to differentiate it from the current S2 board sold for the 9200. They are not the same board. The S3 card should give the TC1000 the same functionality as a 9200 with S2 card. I was also informed that it will not support 4:2:2.

I believe the misunderstandings are caused by typo's. Last I looked, Pansat doesn't make an S3 tuner, no such thing. Then when I looked around for info, I found other sellers who copied the typo's in their product descriptions and some had it correct. If you shop for the S2 tuner, you'll also see that seller's claim it fits the TC-1000 terrestrial receiver. I thought the same as you at first, I even asked questions here on this forum and after hours of researching I came to this conclusion. Do some more research and you'll see what I mean. Now if there's something new that we missed be sure to post your findings. :)

I will repeat myself as I'd prefer that factual information be conveyed.
The "S2" board is for the 9200
The "S3" board is for the TC1000.
The TC1000 with S3 board will not decode 4:2:2.
I was informed the above directly from Pansat and specifically that the S2 and S3 boards are not the same product.
I have no affiliation, relationship, or agenda regarding Pansat products.
I encourage you to call them to verify rather than just make statements based on what you can find from "sellers" or a personal websearch.
I think calling it "S3" is confusing but thats what they are calling it (for now) and is even referenced on their website.
Please have a look for yourself rather than add to confusion of others ;)

More of a reason to get an AZBOX over another pansat product. Do not buy pansat unless you like buggy, cheaply produced products! Glue on the MPEG 2/4 heat sinks come on! I have done a fan mod on mine also, and it has cleared up alot of my issues, but the customer shouldn't have to personally mod there products to get it to work right.

I asked about availability and was told the add-on cards are about a month away.
Pricing information was also not available at this time.
While it has its share of issues, which I'm optimistic will be resolved by firmware shortly, I went with the Azbox Ultra and have no regrets :)

OK, where's the best place to buy one of these AZbox ultras? When I say the best place, I mean the cheapest reputable dealer, or, should I just go to Ebay?

THANKS for this tip! I have been trying to listen to the Access America station since I got this reciever (about 6 months ago)! I did the mute trick and IT WORKED! Many, MANY thanks! I just figured that maybe there was a bad TP on the sat or something on their end wrong. It is funny that when listening to the station, I get a 'Scrambled or bad channel' pop up window. But the audio works.
I like the reciever, but have to re-boot about 1-2 times a week. It seems to happen after scanning in looking for wild feeds. I haven't had any problems using the PVR, but I don't use the timer function, I just enjoy recording the off-the-wall wildfeeds I find. :)

That pop-up message is one of the glitches with this model, it's also happens to me on 95.0W [3744 V 2206].

It seems to happen less frequently since I did the heatsink mod and added a big cooling fan. I also tried changing the frequency number a few notches up and down but it still occurs occasionally. I'm still trying various frequencies and hope to find a solution.

LOL. It depends if the person saw it during the years when they were actually still available which is 1968 to 1983 meaning the person could be 43-58 years old or they can even be a few years old if they learned to read and write at a young age and actually saw a telephone with that label somewhere recently just like even here in San Francisco, payphone still exist physically in public places but whether they can be used or not is a different issue. I opened my Radio Shack in Sept 1984 and right about that time they did the whole deregulation thing with the phone companies. I bought TONS of those phones that had been refurbished with a new outer shell. You could throw one of those out of a 3 story high window and it would still work.
That was an interesting time in history. I would have older customers come in and ask about phones.....they were terrified that they were going to get into trouble hooking up a second phone without the phone company knowing about it. One of the funniest episodes of WKRP was the one where Johnny thought the cops were showing up because they had an unregistered phone. I guess younger folks can't conceive of a time when you were limited to the number of phones you could have in your house....and limited to the length of the cord 🤣

Speaking about cords, I actually did drop a Trimline phone from probably 3 feet high on the floor when I was about 10 or so and it caused a small crack, this was the one with the modular jacks and it was hooked up with I think a 50 ft or longer RJ11C cable from Radio Shack. I still use the phone today connected to a Obi VoIP adapter and the cord is my custom made 6 position RJ11C, not sure of the official name for it without looking it up and Belden MediaTwist Crescent shaped Cat6+ cable.

My Wife was recently in an antique store and saw a rotary desk phone and it had one of those sticker overlays that had a business listed with phone number under each number on the dial. She looked closer and it had my old Radio Shack listed under the 8...she bought it. Pretty cool keepsake. Back then I rented vhs movies as well so I had it listed as Radio Shack / Movie Gallery and then the phone number.

Now in the Hornets and Hurricanes markets we just get the TV promise screen. But Directv still charges sports fee I am assuming.
Luckily my DTV stream package doesn't have a rsn fee. Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.

Greenville-New Bern is $11.99 for MASN (Orioles) and Nationals
Raleigh is $11.99 for MASN and Nationals
Charlotte is $12.99 for BravesVision, MASN, Nationals and Reds

The fee in NC also includes the higher in state rate they have to pay for ACCN. Down in SC the fee is $15.99 as they are also a SEC state.
I'm not sure if they're doing it with those teams, but in some markets they also use the fee to cover the additional cost they have to pay for independents and MyNet stations that picked up full season NHL and NBA rights.

If you go to the TVPromise site, you'll likely be able to get a credit for not getting the Hurricanes and additional Hornets games that air on WITN-D2

Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.
Part of the hold out might be the packaging and price for outer areas like how the Thunder needs sports pack for other states. Hopefully they are also pushing for a guarantee from the teams that they would require whoever wins their local broadcasting rights in 2028 to negotiate with MVPDs. Commercial distribution rights are probably a factor too.

I'm guessing they got a deep discount for the Clippers based on how long it took them to officially announce ClipperVision and their KTLA simulcasts after they were basically handed a multi-year draft death penalty.

The Predators and Pistons channels are using feeds supplied by Scripps Sports

The Heat likely depends on whoever they sign for the Fort Myers DMA, as there's no point in paying a high price for the Heat just for that DMA when WPLG is streaming it for free on their app and website for viewers in the Miami DMA, and they already carry the West Palm Beach station.

I tried this with both the Hurricanes and Hornets since I'm in upstate SC, and wasn't offered any kind of credit by the site. It's not a huge deal to me as I can pick up WSOC/WAXN over the air at my location even though I'm outside the Charlotte market.

I was reading this article

That said this-
Last summer, for the first time, streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime claimed the largest share of the television viewing audience, surpassing both cable and broadcast TV. Streaming captured 34.8 percent of July viewers, according to Nielsen data, compared to 34.4 percent for cable and 21.6 percent for broadcast.

And then, sometime in the second half of 2022, cord-cutters became the majority. The share of cable and satellite television subscribers dipped to 48 percent, according to a report from Samba TV, a television technology company.

Now I do not consider those with YTTV and the likes, Cord Cutters, but they still do not have Traditional Cable/Satellite delivered Live TV, so I decided to do the math.

There are, now, 129 Million Households in the United States.

In 2015, there were 100 Million Cable/Sat Subscribers , no streaming Live TV Service.

Today, there are 66 Million Live TV subscribers, including Cable, Satellite and Streaming.

Roughly, Streaming Live TV has 14 Million subs including all of them.

So that means, Cable/Satellite now has, roughly, 51 Million Households

So in just 8 years, lost 49% of their subscribers and by the end of this year, expected sub count to be, roughly, 45 million households.

That means a total loss of 55% since 2015 at the end of 2023.

But out of 129 Million households, 45 million will mean only 35% will get Cable/Satellite Delivered Live TV by the end of 2023.

Imagine what 2024 will be like.

Some interesting information was in this article-

This first-

The total pay-TV sector (traditional service providers and virtual MVPDs) shed 885,000 subscribers in Q2 2026

So with the loss of 2.03 Million in the first quarter, already at 2.915 Million gone this year, two quarters left to report.

#2-

The segment ended Q2 with 61.51 million subs comprising 27.5 million cable video subs, 21.42 million vMVPD customers, 9.56 million satellite TV customers, and 3.01 million telco TV subs.

There are approximately 133.97 million households in the United States, according to recent YCharts US Households Data from mid-2026.

That means more than 72 Million households do not have a paid live TV service, about 54% of the total.

What is worse, 7 years ago, paid live TV had over 80% of the population subscribing ( about 100 Million), almost all were Cable/Satellite customers.

Today, only about 37 Million subscribe to Cable/Satellite, less than 28% of our population.

#3-

At one time, Satellite TV (Dish and DirecTV), had about 34 Million subscribers added together, now, 9.56 Million.

That is over a 70% loss for those who subscribe to Satellite TV.

For Cable TV, not as bad, since they have broadband to help against the losses ( bundles), but as more options appear ( 5G, fiber, starlink, etc), I expect a big increase in those leaving cable.

Also expect YTTV to really start gaining even more subscribers, for those who still wish to have a live TV service, based on price point and it is a really great service.

Well, the bag can't weigh that much, right? But by law food product packaging must display the actual net weight of the product, i.e., the contents of the container, so by any logic, if not law, a store's stated per-ounce cost should reflect that figure. But since there's not any law regulating shelf statements, a store can say whatever it wants without violating any rules. So I guess the answer is more consumer legislation. Or simply caveat emptor.

Products sold by the ounce, pound, etc, should always be priced for the product only. Only the shipping weight should include the packaging.

Unless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.

I'm pretty sure that produce bags can't get any thinner. ;)

You certainly don't want to put unbagged produce on a belt, scale, or in a clerk's hands (gloved or not).

I can't BELIEVE this is being such a difficult subject. The issue isn't the price....it's the advertised price per ounce. A lot of shoppers, myself included, use the price per ounce in determining which is the better value....with that number being inaccurate, it can trick someone into thinking that one product cost less per ounce than a competing product. Is this a crime?...above my pay grade. Is it dishonest? Yes.

Comcast is the first to report, with a massive 274,000 loss in video subscribers.

In the 3Q of 2016, Comcast had 21.42 million video subscribers and was the #1 provider, now at 10.39 million and is the #3 Provider, YTTV is #2 ( who also surpassed DirecTV-8 Million and Dish-under 5 Million), Charter/Spectrum is #1.

That's one of those songs that hits a little too close to home for me. I like the song but just can't listen to it. It's kinda like that song "Daddy never was the Cadillac kind".....reminds me too much of my Grandfather who died Feb 18, 1995.
