Take this coming from a person who LOVES the tourney and watches almost every minute of it, but let's be honest...the NCAA does not come close to matching the play and intensity of the NBA playoffs.

First and foremost you have serious crowd involvement in most EVERY SINGLE GAME. No games in Utah pitting a Big East team against an SEC team, no games in New Orleans with 500 people in the stands. Virtually no games in the NCAA where fans HATE the other team. You have that A LOT in the NBA.

Also, basketball was just not meant to be played in football stadiums. I'm sorry, there is minimal intimacy and atmosphere in those gigantic stadiums. I cannot even imagine watching a basketball game from the upper deck of a football stadium, and some of that comes through on TV as well.

While the 'one and done' aspect of the NCAA is part of the excitement, it gives you no time to develop any animosity against the other team. So many six and seven game NBA series have been absolutely epic by the time they were done. You just don't have that in the NCAA, where games come and go at times in a total of 72 hours.

The NBA doesn't rely on gambling like the NCAA does. Admit it, part of the reason everyone is glued to the TV for the first and second rounds is because at that time EVERYONE is still alive in their March Madness pools, and still has dollar signs floating through their head. Who else would care about a 6-11 matchup between two teams where you cannot even name one player on either team?

Look at the posts from the early rounds of the NCAA tournament thread here. More people are commenting on how their bracket sheet is doing than are commenting on the games themselves. There are precious few who don't gamble on it, and watch the tournament only for what it is.

Level of play. The NBA is so far superior to the NCAA in skill level that it is almost staggering. Truth be told, while there are obviously future NBA impact players who just played in the NCAA, percentage wise not a lot of the players we just watched in March will even be able to hang in the NBA as a 12th man. Many are headed for the D-league, Europe, a desk, or are hoping to catch on as an assistant coach somewhere.

History. Part of the magic of the NBA is the possibility of rematches from year to year, both individual and team. Deep-seated hatred has the chance to ferment. The Spurs/Mavericks series has been building up to this point for years. You have Laker fans on this forum who hate Lebron based on years of regular seasons, even though they have not even met in the playoffs yet. If/when they do, it will be special.

The Duke team next year will be totally different than last year's Duke team. Kentucky will be unrecognizable. North Carolina will have a ton of new players...and probably be in the final four with a bunch of guys only die-hard recruiting fanatics have even heard of.

Would love to have seen a John Wall/Evan Turner matchup in the NCAA tournament. But it didn't happen, and it will never happen. Actually, it will...in the NBA! ;)

I would almost buy into this, except for one thing - in the NCAA tournament, EVERY possession is played like the last. In the NBA, the game really doesn't get started until the 4th quarter. Sorry, to me the NBA is still boring.

First off, let just say that I was in attendance two years ago for a regional final, and last year for the final four at Ford field, and while I don't like BB in that large of a setting, it was still very compelling. Fan involvement is not an issue. They are very much involved. Having kids from 4 different schools in the arena does make for an electrifying ambience. You have to be there to really understand.

I can't stand watching the NBA, it's all about the players drama.

NCAA, the game is the drama, the way it should be.

I've been to NCAA preliminary and regional games at the Meadowlands and in Philly. The atmosphere can be electric in a regional final, in preliminary games not so much.

Much better chance for an electrically charged crowd at an NBA playoff game. Went to a couple of Knicks/Bulls Michael Jordan playoff games at the Garden when I was young, the NCAA does not compare to that.

So you are a supporter of NBA hoops. That's nice for you.
However ,if the NBA is so much the best, how do you explain the NCAA signing up with CBS for 14 years at a price of nearly $11 billion while the NBA is fighting a downward spiral in tv ratings and a failure to sign a network tv deal?
Look, there are three properties keeping the NBA afloat. Kobe Bryant, Lebron James and the LA Lakers. After that, it's all the same...Heck , even the New York Knicks have trouble selling tickets.
Those are facts.

I think they were more of a transitional receiver bridging the VIPs to the Hopper. They were a PITA to install and were buggy. Personally, I thought at the time that they were the best receiver out there. The versatility of the VIP's with the new Hopper GUI and, by far, the coolest-looking front plate and lighting.

I have to think maybe more people dont keep track of the monthly XM bill. Every time i renew i put a reminder on my calendar week before its time to renew. My wife told me the other day not to renew her and then i told her you are not going to be able to listen to XM at home. Then she changed her mind...!!

The A.I. agent appears to be better than in the past. It got to the acceptable price quicker than previous years, no human operator involved. $5/mo and I still have over $50 in SiriusXM credit from my FordPartner benefits.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

Has anyone noticed an FF stutter with 713? I used to be able to hit FF a few times and skip smoothly. After 713 (maybe 712), when I skip forward, there is a definite stutter for as many times as I have pressed FF.

Can anyone check on this and report back? Recorded programs and then press skip forward a few times to see if it's smooth? Normally, it just jumps to the right place after the skips.

On the West Coast, a 40-cent differential is common. It used to be 30 cents before the prices rose above $3.

A "full dollar more" sounds like it may be boat gas (non-alcoholic), which is a whole different discussion.

Ok, I'm bored .... actually - to be more precise - I'm bored of eating the same rotation of 9 or 10 meals that are currently my "go-to" meals. My wife works the long hours - I work from home as and when i feel like it ... which means i generally do most of the cooking ... and so by default - i also make out the shopping list ...

We cook at home 5 or even 6 nights a week - but we always seem to fall back on the same old tried and tested "quick and easy but tastes ok" meals. Week in week out.

Pot Roast - mash and Peas.
Spaghetti
Chicken Pasta in cheese sauce.
Curry & rice
(these are some of mine)

Now it's not that I'm not adventurous in the kitchen ... I'll try anything once or twice ... but we all do it. Unless your name is Martha Stewart or Rachel Ray .. we all eventually fall back on our 8-10 favorite "meals"

So i thought - if we shared some of our own go-to meals with each other ... we might be able to add a few "new" ones to our own arsenal of meals.

So again - I ask you ...

What's for dinner tonight ?

Please give me something new to add to my rotation ... its our weekly shop tomorrow - so i want to pull together a few idea's and try and eat a meal each day next week that I've never had before .. or at least something that is not on my current "go-to" meal plan.

What meal do you always seem to fall back on in your house ? Maybe its something that I've never tried or not had in a while. I need inspiration !! I've got a blank shopping list in front of me - and nothing sounds good .. HELP !

Smoked some salmon on the grill while enjoying some Blue Moon beer. Kinda cool tonight so I fired up the heaters. Here in FL, we fire up heaters once the temps get below 60 :cool As for the salmon, I seared them first, then flipped them off to the side not over the coals and brushed on some lemon pepper marinade followed by some salmon seasoning. Threw some hickory chips on the coals and then closed the vents to about 10% airflow. Yum.
