DC 2 HD is fantastic looking. But people migrate over to pizza like the second coming thinking that their HD lite is the cats meow. Although that is a fallacy as anyone with a FTA HD receiver knows. As pizza goes down in quality prices increase. So Mr mainstream keep supplying pizza with it's monthly fix of cash and soon a 240 line resolution picture will be the norm at $100 a month. Some are smart and won't bite at that.
I hear Charlie is up to his old tricks again possibly dumping ESPN on Dish Network. This will sit well with the sports fans. Those who know where the backhaul sports feeds are can find most of them ITC in beautiful HD. Very few have this information though and blind scanning will not find them. The broadcasters have gotten smart and use tricks that don't let greenhorns find them. Those with inside information though know better. And this information is not posted in any forums even hidden area's.

The problem is, when I sit down at the end of a long day, the last thing I want to do is get on the internet or scan a bunch of satellites for an occasional free channel. TV is TV, just like it is for most people. and it revolves around me, not me around it. HD is nice to have but far from my #1 priority. I would rather watch the local channels in 240i than watch HBO in high def. Oh, that's right, H2H doesn't have HBO, or nothing high def.
And since the broadcasters hide channels from greenhorns like me, then HD Direct TV sounds like the way to go. It's simple & easy to use for dumb people like me. Direct TV HD may not have as clear a picture as your HD but it is slightly sharper than H2H, at least from what I've seen.
And since it requires inside information that is not allowed for dumb people like me to get, I guess you've sold me to run my dozer over this HD reciever, cancel my H2H subscription & go with Direct.

After the promotion runs out then they get the royal $crew job!
Most people accept pizza and its shortcomings as the only way to get TV especially when it comes to purchasing a package to get their otherwise free local OTA channels. The extra toppings like movie channels, sports packs, porn, PPV, extra receivers, DVRs all add up and people keep loading that pizza up! I cannot figure out why so many people with loaded pizza go out to watch movies at the theater every weekend!
Here at SatelliteGuys most here have the knowledge what is available and how to get it either at best quality, most quantity and/or affordable. If you do not have the knowledge then it can be found somewhere in the many category choices here. A quality or a quantity comparison should not have to end up in a all out food fight either!
I am not one of the "dough boy$" and I stay out of the pizza kitchen and spend most of my time on 4DTV, FTA and OTA areas. I am amazed on how much pizza gets dropped on the 4DTV floor!!! Let's clean it up! It seems like every 4DTV thread has pizza sass! Do the pizza areas all include 4DTV???

Good post Dan. I hate to say it but the pizza virus is spreading to more big dish forums. It killed satforums and now its over here at satellite guys. It going take to turn for the worse here which will cause big dish people to stay away. IMO the pizza guys have caused muting of 4DTV Map Master progress over here. I was going to keep posting updates here and even make the program downloadable at satguys but that won't happen now. I have been told that satguys got complaints about it and removed my link to the new MM forum. It's sad to see that Satellite guys don't want to be included in the release. The downward trend to good big dish happenings continue. It seems they rather would allow the pizza guys to do there pizza glory work, but it is what it is. The Big Dish will always rule with no pizza control ever at the places I run.

There has been a helluva lotta pizza stuff on the floor in this area lately, and now it's running down the walls too! Funny thing about it, is I don't see ANY C-band parts laying around in the pizza sections!

You do realize that DBS or "pizza" as you like to call it was not even mentioned in this thread until post 19, which was your post? I am certainly no fan of what has become of C-Band. I wish that GI/Motorola, Drake, Chaparral, and others had continued to support it. It would be great if we could get the master feeds and have a HD DVR receiver capable of getting the DCII and PowerVu channels. But it is what it is, and it is not going to happen. If someone wants cable type programming today, they have to get it from cable, if you can get cable, the telephone company, if your telecom offers it, or from DBS. If you will go to the real C-Band forum on this site, and the other FTA areas there is hardly any mention of "pizza" so you cant say that SatelliteGuys is running off FTA hobbyist. Probably the reason there is mention of it in the 4DTV area is that there is still a small contingent of subscription based channels left available through 4DTV for the time being. If you are happy with H2H that is good, I am happy for you. But you really should not carry such a chip on your shoulder about DBS. What I am saying is, you are providing incorrect information about $250 per month prices for the packages, and that DirecTV extends your commitment without telling you, etc... If someone is asking about the difference in H2H and DirecTV or Dish Network it is fine to sell "your" service, just be fair about it. I am sure that the H2H SD picture quality is better than DirecTV, but for what you get the price seems inflated. I realize that there are only a few subscribers left to carry the burden though. And I agree with you that the HD picture from most C-Band feeds I have ever seen exceeds that of what DirecTV and Dish carry, but their HD picture is perfectly watchable and look quite good, I would have to give the slight edge to DirecTV. Anyway, my point is SatelliteGuys is not all about "pizza" and they are not trying to push FTA hobbyist and C-Banders out the door in any way.

Mexico takes on South Africa to open the World Cup Final (it is called the Final... this just isn't the World Cup Final... Final). The tournament has been plagued with rife malfeasance as FIFA has been committing all sorts of fraud with the ticket sales. Hotel rooms have gone unfilled as the prices to attend a game and stay somewhere are through the roof. I swear this is impacting Mansfield, OH hotel rates which are higher than average for the Indycar race. And there is a broadening VAR presence which will ruin things as nothing worse now when scoring a goal and knowing you can't quite celebrate yet as they check to see if a player was offside by a pixel a half-hour ago.
The Group Stage used to mean something, but now 32 of the 48... yeah, 48 teams are going to the Knockout Round. Getting into the Knockout Round used to be a big deal, even for the US. But now... if you don't lose all of your group stage games, you get to move on. Oi! And this is avoiding all the political stuff!

So...DirecTV advertises the Choice package with 95+ bonus channels for Satellite customers. You don't want 90+ of the 95...
Excluding PPV, premium networks, infomercial, shopping, religion, and non-English programming, there are 7 channels on satellite that are not on streaming:
NFL Network, MavTV, FE TV, Free Speech, NASA, INSP, and Pursuit. I'm pretty sure a couple of those are public interest that they have to carry to meet an FCC quota on satellite.
I hope they get called out for this advertising because that is ridiculous. One big network, NFL, will probably get added to streaming when their next agreement comes up, and the rest are likely very low viewership.
What about streaming, what do you get extra with the Choice package that isn't on Satellite:
Two stations - one of which is an internet TV - Fox Weather, and Heros & Icons (a diginet). Nothing special here to look at either.
If they cleaned up a couple of their agreements, added a few public interest stations to streaming, they could probably have their lineups match. It's close now, if you take out all the garbage on satellite that they earn money on. If they can sell infomercials on satellite, why can't they on streaming, seems like a miss. A bigger miss, including those stations in the "bonus channels just for satellite customers." Pretty sad marketing right there.
Attached is a comparison sheet of satellite vs streaming for the three main packages if anyone is interested.

Hello everyone, new guy here. I'm trying to solve problem I'm having with Dish bonus view channels. When I'm watching the bonus view channels then I switch back to regular dish channels, after few minutes the screen flips to black and after 30 seconds flips back to regular channels and continues to flip back and forth until I turn off TV. After I wait 30 minutes and turn back on , I can use regular channels again. So, its after I switch from bonus view channels to regular dish channels the problem starts. Been trying to fix this for a month, but no luck
Here what I've done.
i contacted Dish support and they sent me a new Joey3, but no help. Switched to a different HDMI input on TV, no help. Used different HDMI cable , no help. Used different electrical wall plug, no help.
Finally got a Dish tech to check it. He ran all systems check and was OK. Finally he brought in a small TV and plugged in the HDMI out from the Joey to the small TV. He could not get the problem to occur on his small TV, so the new Joey was working OK. So, then the problem must be myTV. He made some phone calls and came back with the answer that there must be a problem with the analog to digital switch in my TV. Has anyone ever heard of a problem like this, or is it time to be looking for a new TV? My tv LG OLED65C8PUA. TV has been trouble free til now. Thanks
