Tried fta on small dish

As far as trying to a dishnetwork or directv dish for fta, don't bother! I tried to use a EA dish, which was a no go. Guess I will have to use the big 36 inch one in the front, I wonder how long it will take for it to disappear, or for kids get after it.

I got it working right away on the 36 inch fta dish, lots of J(g)ibberish channels on 97w. It's definitely really cool to see the channel list grow when doing the blind scan. Glad I didn't sell any of it.

It depends on what you're trying to get. I have a 18" with a PLL fixed on 97W for Ebru, another on 95W for CCTV, a motorized 18" for the occasional ITC channels and they all work pretty well.

How many channels do you get (with acceptable Q) on 97W with the 18" reflector?

Nope! I deleted a lot of channels. It would probably be nicer if I had a HD receiver.

Must require a lot of patience, and fiddling. I got a lnb mount from hypermegasat to put on the smaller dish.

Thanks! When I first scanned in all the channels there was about 160 that scanned in, IIRC. I only cared about EBRU, so I don't know about the others, I deleted all of them.

I did try KTV, but that wasn't strong enough to stay up reliably. RT use to be good with good Q but it seems to be gone now, I have 0 for Q on that now. Ebru comes in good and the Q is usually right around 60 -70% on my MicroHD, on overcast days it will drop into the 50's but still play all right, it never goes out unless it's raining heavily. I Film English always has good Q but there's never anything on there I want to watch!

A PLL LNB made a huge difference for stability, with standard linear LNBs the reliability wasn't so great.

It's not too bad using my FS1 meter, without that though I'd think it'd be very hard. I wouldn't suggest anyone to try it for their first dish setup, or if they do, to keep in mind that a bigger dish is much easier to setup. With the small dishes, just a touch one way or another and the signal is gone. It is a pain to get the bolts tightened down without moving the dish but that might be just me, I'm one of those people that over tightens everything.

The motorized dish was the worse and was hard, I almost gave up on that but I had a old SG2100 that wasn't strong enough to move anything else and I was determined to use it for something. Which it's nice now that it's setup, if something is temporarily ITC I just swing that dish around to it.

The first mounts that I tried I'd made from old DT LNBs but I switched them for some mounts I'd bought off of Amazon for a couple of bucks. Before I'd mounted them I put the original LNB into the arm and then bent the replacement bracket to the same angle as the original. The ones that I'd bought were nowhere near the angle that they needed to be at!

Am I the only one that hates what Dish did to their mobile app?

I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

Meh. The 4Ks I have will do everything that these do that I need them to do.

Which that's most tech these days for anything released the last four to five years.

It's honestly a testament to how good the previous gen Apple TVs were and are.

Not a bit. IMO, Apple's are slow to boot up. Time is about the same with 1st gen and 3rd. Roku runs rings around them in that department. I only reason I stuck, is the Apple infrastructure, which has it's definite advantages. But $300 is a deal breaker. Later, Apple!

Yeah, they boot up a bit slower than Roku, but the OS does a lot more, so it makes sense. How often are you booting them up that is a differentiator? Aside from OS updates, mine are on all the time. I will say the ATV4K is generally quicker than the Roku Ultras I have, when it comes to launching apps and responsiveness, not that the Roku is sluggish.

I assume you mean services, like iCloud and Apple Music, and not actual software sales. Services have been growing quickly for Apple, but hardware still brings home the bacon. As for where Apple's revenue comes from, the iPhone is still king with 49.58% of revenue as of June 2026. Services comes in second with 28%. iPad, Mac, and Wearables/Home makes up the rest. So, that is 72% coming from hardware. Their profit margin is around 25%, FWIW.

I am skeptical the AppleTV 4k makes them much money on the hardware though, which I suspect is what you were getting at.

Just checked my account and it shows mgm+ at 8.00 per month, but that has red line drawn thru it and shows 0.00 per month. But it doesn't say how long this lasts,...... 1 month, 3 months, forever. I called customer service to get an answer, and they said nothing like that exists. Should I add the offer or not? Already paying them too much, but want to take advantage of something free.

Anyone else watch this show? Any guesses as to what was in the box Gibbs gave to Abby that was on her desk? It look liked it was glowing.

Might be worth a watch when it comes out. Looks like typical big corp against the little guy movie BUT....there is a reason this plot type is so oft repeated, it draws audiences.
