Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, please go easy on me! I have an issue, I attempted to upgrade to the Hopper 3 only to be told that I am ineligible for an upgrade due to having international channels. Specifically, I have been told that I need to either lose the international channels and get the Hopper 3 or no Hopper 3. The Dish CS reps have told me that the Hopper 3 can only receive 3 orbital positions while I need 4 for the international package I have. Does anyone else have this issue, or any possible solutions? Thanks!

How do you hook up a Super Joey to a 2 hopper setup?

Oh wait you cant....[emoji6]
That's why your not aloud.

You would need a second dish and 2 nodes.
And your setup wouldn't be fully integrated anymore which is pointless IMO.
Your better off with a 3 Hopper setup.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Active

You are thinking the same way Dish does...

You can (could) when the customer has a Hopper in his detached garage with it's own dish and a Hopper and 3 other TV's in the main house with their own dish. We have many customers with such a setup. That is the problem with Dish's "rules", if it is outside of their little box, they can't handle it...

We have one customer that owns his own ski lake and all the land around it, it is 1 lot/parcel. He has his house, 2 guest houses and a detached garage/barn. Each guesthouse has a Hopper, the main house has 4 tv's and the detached garage, which is wired to the main house, has a bedroom upstairs, so the Hopper has to run 5 TV's. It would be perfect for a Super Joey, but Dish's short sightedness won't allow it.

There are a lot of rich customers out there that have much more than the standard house where everything is in 1 building.

Separate dishes exactly.
But you can't run 2 Hoppers and a Super Joey in the same setup.
The technology isn't there to support such.
More Hoppers will work just fine with the proper switchs, but not super joeys.

Let me see a wiring diagram that incorporates a Super Joey with full integration into a Multiple Hopper setup.

There is no point to add a Super Joey when you can just add another Hopper.

And you are also not aloud any other Hopper equipment with a Hopper 3 account period.
That's authorization rules not compatibility rules with separate dishs.

If you want 2,3 or 4 different accounts then those poor old rich dummies can afford to spend triple the money for absolutely no logical reason.
But most normal people rich or poor wouldn't have a setup like you describe.

You can not have more than 1 acct at one address, especially for the same person and there is no reason why he should have to pay for multiple accts. It is built the way it is supposed to be, as per Dish's rules. The buildings are too far apart to run off of 1 Dish and/or to be tied together. There is no other way to do it. It is the logical and proper installation, and a practical use for a Super Joey with multiple Hoppers.

I never claimed there was a wiring diagram for that, I said there are situations where a SJ would be useful and not break any technology barriers. The customer doesn't want 2 Hoppers in his House, that is all that matters.

Also, you can wire 3 Hoppers on 1 dish, so you could wire 2 Hoppers and a SJ, but according to Dish, it is a Moca limitation that doesn't allow that to work.

You claimed dish isn't thinking outside of the box and claim they don't allow super joeys on multiple Hopper accounts just because they don't want to.

When in fact it's not mechanically possible.
If it doesn't break technical barriers, then show me a wiring diagram that supports your claim.
I suggest you go back and read carefully.

If a customer doesn't want 2 Hoppers, we'll the Get a Hopper 3.
It's not necessarily the customers choice what the technology and the company rules are.

I am not sure how you are missing the point. If 1 of the Hoppers is in a detached garage (self contained with a separate dish), then you have the other Hopper and 1 SJ in the house with their own dish, that is a standard config and IS mechanically possible. Just because the customer has a detached garage (for example) does not mean he should have 2 separate accts.

Nope, but extra Hoppers would be the best bet. I can't go to the BMW dealership, and get a brand new BMW with Mercedes decals put on it, or Lexus engine components put in it from the dealership. The company rules are there, and if not willing to abide by those, they still have the option of VIP equipment. Their policies are well known, and that is that. This discussion is purposeless.

Wow, seems like a lot of people that have no experience in the real world. Dish won't allow it because "you can't wire 1 SJ and 2 Hoppers together". They can't see that it can be done in certain situations, and sometimes it would be the best solution.

This isn't about customers "getting over it". The situation as I described would work fine, if Dish could just build it that way in their computer, but they can't... The only reason they can't is because they are too shortsighted to see the potential situation for it to work. They try to keep it simple for all the trunk slammer installers out there, and it hamstrings the ones that know what they are doing...

No, this is technically possible. I have seen where you
Can wire it that way. The issue that you have misunderstood/interpreted, or just plain choose to ignore is that Dish as a company has decided that keeping Pandora's box closed is what's best for their business. If a few people leave, small enough not to make up a relevant statistic, than it doesn't matter and they made the right choice compared to the amount of money fielding phone calls on a messed up system, and sending technicians out on something that just doesn't seem to work correctly consistently. There is already that complaint with SJs and 1 Hopper. So, to answer you question, what you're pointing out is shortsighted and the argument is pointless. There is not a market that cannot be fulfilled with another means that Dish offers. Hence, those customers can suck it up, or enjoy DTVs SWM system.
Troch77
If I had a separate 5 TV setup like you claim I would have 3 Hoppers and Joey

Because why does the detached garage need 5 tuners?

Sounds like an apartment to me.

Hardly matters. Didn't someone post the SJ is no longer in production, and has been "superceeded?"

I'm sure there will be plenty floating around for years, but new installs must already be dropping off. Who would want one? Wouldn't the H3 be cheaper?

Now in the Hornets and Hurricanes markets we just get the TV promise screen. But Directv still charges sports fee I am assuming.
Luckily my DTV stream package doesn't have a rsn fee. Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.

Now in the Hornets and Hurricanes markets we just get the TV promise screen. But Directv still charges sports fee I am assuming.
Greenville-New Bern is $11.99 for MASN (Orioles) and Nationals
Raleigh is $11.99 for MASN and Nationals
Charlotte is $12.99 for BravesVision, MASN, Nationals and Reds

The fee in NC also includes the higher in state rate they have to pay for ACCN. Down in SC the fee is $15.99 as they are also a SEC state.
I'm not sure if they're doing it with those teams, but in some markets they also use the fee to cover the additional cost they have to pay for independents and MyNet stations that picked up full season NHL and NBA rights.

If you go to the TVPromise site, you'll likely be able to get a credit for not getting the Hurricanes and additional Hornets games that air on WITN-D2

Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.
Part of the hold out might be the packaging and price for outer areas like how the Thunder needs sports pack for other states. Hopefully they are also pushing for a guarantee from the teams that they would require whoever wins their local broadcasting rights in 2028 to negotiate with MVPDs. Commercial distribution rights are probably a factor too.

I'm guessing they got a deep discount for the Clippers based on how long it took them to officially announce ClipperVision and their KTLA simulcasts after they were basically handed a multi-year draft death penalty.

The Predators and Pistons channels are using feeds supplied by Scripps Sports

The Heat likely depends on whoever they sign for the Fort Myers DMA, as there's no point in paying a high price for the Heat just for that DMA when WPLG is streaming it for free on their app and website for viewers in the Miami DMA, and they already carry the West Palm Beach station.

Still hate weekly releases though, especially the way Disney and HBO do it waiting until 8pm to premiere it.

Apparently I'm not a big enough nerd🤓 since I did not read every Marvel Comic Book ever published. If I had, I might be comparing the comics' version of events compared to what's transpiring in "Visionquest". So, I am enjoying the series a lot, not weighed down by previous expectations, knowing only the Avengers MCU movies and the "Wandavision" / "Agatha All Along" TV series.

I found the Mr Know-it-All channel from his discussion about "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" and he's been gleefully picking these episodes apart, referencing the Marvel comics from the 1939 on. Turns out A.I. has been around since before World War II, at least in the comics. (Robots before that, yes, yes.) This show is going back into the archives.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

SpaceX has held talks with Boost's parent company EchoStar in recent months about launching its own signature wireless service through a deal with the company, according to two people familiar with the negotiations.
Musk, the SpaceX CEO, has discussed the deal personally, meeting with EchoStar chairman Charlie Ergen last month, according to the people. The potential deal may result in SpaceX acquiring Boost Mobile or SpaceX gaining access to its network, which it leases from AT&T and T-Mobile US, the people said.
Access to those lease agreements would be a coup for SpaceX. The back door would allow Musk to make a play for a U.S. wireless market that equity research firm MoffettNathanson estimates is worth $235 billion. Just a guess on my part but there may be some value to aquring to get all the retransmision agreements that are in place even though at some point they need to be renewed

I have Dish with Hopper3. I choose to get local channels OTA and had a "guide list" established at my previous home. Having moved a few miles away, I wanted to update the list by appending a couple new stations via a rescan. As many would know, some stations come in with the UHF/VHF antenna aimed in one direction, while others come in better with a different direction.

Unfortunately, when a scan is done (bringing in 25-30 stations for that particular antenna aim), the dialog screen does not present the established guide list; it presents an empty field to the right that the scanned stations may be selected one by one and added to the empty guide. But because of antenna aim, some stations originally saved are missing, and would have to be retrieved with a different antenna aim. But as I explain, if a 2nd scan is done with a different antenna aim, the stations saved from the first scan are lost.

It troubles me that Dish didn't develop software that would allow a user to simply append only 1 or 2 channels to the established list.

Any thought on this? Has anyone experienced this or heard of this from others?

I could very well be wrong....it has been a LOT of years but back when I had a 722K it seemed like when you went back to the scan screen that you could just scan again and it would ADD those channels to the previous list or you could delete the previous results and only add the channels from the new scan.

I am not sure about that but I do know that you could manually add additional channels just by entering the actual RF channel number and the older receivers would add the virtual channels to your list

Like I said.....that has been many years ago. Swapped my 722K for a Hopper in 2012.

It does seem like I remember having to delete the existing channels when we did a rescan. Back then our local stations KEPT monkeying around with things and it was non-stop complaints from customers about their channels not coming in. Got so bad that I stopped selling OR installing OTAs....something I had been doing since 1984 so you know it HAD to be pretty bad.

Bears. Took care of the elite Seahawks defense in a great performance.
NFC North. The entire division is 2 games above .500
Lions. Finally handed an L to that weird Minnesota team. Good vibes for Jack Campbell.
Pitt. Took the lead of the division convincingly.
Bengals vs Titans game. Fireworks game. Not sure it was a well-played game, but it sure was fun. JoeyB with 6 scores... and 4 turnovers.
Denver. They keep winning, man. Payton is a baller of a coach.
Packers. Thorough beatdown of the hard-to-read Panthers.
Jags. Demolished the hapless Colts.
Rams. The Super team finally wins back-to-back games.

Goats
Vikings. Took their first L. I know their D is insane, but their offense is setting back football to the 1950's.
Cowboys. Lost a 2-score lead vs. the Gardner Minshew-led Cards... at home. Embarrassing.
Browns. Playing for the division lead by scoring 6 points.
Bucs vs Falcons game. Setting modern football back to the ice age. Honorable mention to Tua Penix err ... Michael Tagov .... well, you know what I mean.
Bengals fans acting like Burrow just won the MVP after his performance. I get it. 6 scores is awesome. But. He also turned the ball over 4 times and required overtime to beat the 1-win Titans. So spare me the parade.
Chiefs. Not because they lost. It was a close game decided on the last play vs. a divisional rival on the road. That's always rough. But because of their whining over the CLEAR flag they got on the would-be winning play. They are used to getting the calls, and when they don't, they complain. Honorable mention to Mahomes for this quote: "I mean, at the end of the day, you have to go with whatever is called, but a lot of times in those big moments, the little stuff doesn't get called like that"... so you admit it was a penalty?? Just shut up, man.
Colts. They began the fire sale earlier in the week, and it showed. This team is cooked; Daniel Jones should go to the bench, and Steichen will be fired pretty soon.
Chargers. Wow. That's all I got.
Miami. For having the Pats sort of on the ropes and letting them go.
Eagles. Another team that should consider selling some assets. They are going nowhere.

Mahomes is the biggest cry baby I have ever seen. He thinks he's privileged or something.🙄

Just the same vilification as players like Brady experienced, a product of their success and largely overblown (just like them 'getting all the calls').

Well you see him more because he is incredibly talented. And yes, typically players try to spin things being in their favor. This isn't cricket where sportsmanship (except in Australia) is expected.

The only people who deny what Brady got from the officials are Brady fans

The NFL, for some time, has protected the marquee quarterbacks. Brady, Mahomes, Allen, Burrow - they all get the calls.
The lower tier QBs don't seem to get the same benefit. For instance, some of the hits that Darnold took from Chicago on Monday night would have been a flag frenzy if any of the marquee QBs were hit like that. And I am not in any way a fan of anything Seahawks related. I am a fan of balanced officiating - and that hasn't been the case for a while.

My team is not immune to this - Fred Warner laid some vicious hits in the Commanders game that I thought should have been flagged - one was, but they picked it up.

Not a good look on NFL officials.
