I recently installed a Sony VPL-VW 385 ES home theater projector & I decided to give Dish Network's 4K receiver, the Hopper 3, a try. As our theater is located some distance away from where the H3 is located I wasn't sure how our 50' long older HDMI cable would work. We rarely watch Dish Net in the theater so this hasn't been a big concern until now. Our HDMI splitter is 4K compatible so I thought I'd gave it a try. The setup is to use the Oppo's 203 UHD Blu-ray player's HDMI Input, then switch input source accordingly.
I will admit that Dish has been lacking when it comes to 4K content but lately they have had a weekly 4K collage football game shown on their 4K channel 540 on Fridays or Saturdays. So, the window of opportunity to test Dish 4K on the Sony 385 is limited to just the hours the game is broadcast. Last week, before the 4K game was on, I tested a HD program. With the older HDMI cable it begrudgingly passed HD to the 385. The audio was in & out with no picture but finally the HD signal was accepted by the Sony projector as YCbCr 4,4,4, 1920x1080@30Hz. It failed with 4K. Zilch, nothing passed.
This week I ordered the 50' version of Monoprice Active HDMI to replace the older HDMI & waited for the next 4K game broadcast. This time there was no problem with the Sony 385 accepting Dish HD, passing it with the same YCbCr 4,4,4, 1920x1080@30Hz. With 4K, however, it took awhile as it did with HD & the older HDMI but eventually worked. The Sony 385's menu read the signal as YCbCr 4,4,4, 3840x2160@30Hz, RGB. The picture viewed as 102" diagonal was fantastic. Our 55" 4K Samsung reads that same signal as 3840x2160@60Hz. And, this time I recorded the 4K game on the H3's DVR. When playback of the recording the 385 reads YCbCr 4,4,4, 3840x2160@30Hz, BT.709. Why BT.709 for the recording & RGB for the live broadcast I haven't a clue.
If the Dish H3 were closer I'm sure there would be such hesitation to lock-in 4K. 50' of HDMI is borderline without going to fiber optics. But it is good enough for how little we watch Dish in the theater.

After having continuing trouble with my eight+ year old Dell Inspiron laptop I am looking to hopefully catch a good deal on new one. My options to buy is Costco and Sam's Club. It seems like a lot of new laptops are 2 in 1 which I do not need. I use the laptop to mainly surf the web and keep up with my finances, money and bills. I would like to have at least a 15" screen and having a touchscreen is a plus. The keyboard would need to lighted also. I don't game any. It would have to be Windows instead of and not Mac. The brands I see the most are Asus, Dell and HP. My two last laptops has been Dell's. Of these brands are there any standouts over the other brands. My budget (hopefully) is $600+-. Also while researching I noticed that do not have ethernet ports.

Over the past few weeks, I have had problems connecting to streaming services (Netflix, HBO et al). When I go to the TV's native Channels, I have no problem. The Dish internet troubleshooter shows I have a good internet connection. I'm wondering whether it's an issue with my internet provider or a problem with the Dish software on the Hopper Plus. Anyone else seeing this?

This should hit a lot of folks with a dose of reality. I can only imagine how much more common this will get as AI progresses.
I read several stories on this and most are clear as mud. They say a lot of the stolen bitcoin has been "locked out" and that everyone will be made financially whole. I guess time will tell if either of these statements are actually true.

For some reason, the satelliteguys.us site is loading a lot slower than usual on both Chrome on my Asus laptop and Safari on my iPhone.
I'm also seeing longer appearances of the blue bar at the top and the "3 blue bars" loading symbol.

Buckeyes had 2 weeks off and came out and looked absolutely terrible ... broke in a new Freshman Qb, but that wasn't the worst part ... undiscipline play, at last count they had 10 penalties.
Freshman in the end of the game trying to play catch up, had a lot of Over throws ... Bucks lose ...
#1 Miami struggled but pulled away in the end beating North Carolina by 3 ...
Tuesday the CFP brings out thier Playoff Top 12 again ... Buckeyes should drop from #2 to about #22 (they won't) had they had thier Starting QB, it would have been a different game ...
They could lose the rest of thier games at this point.

Pissed off at the crappy healthcare costs
My health Insurance renewal for 2027 just came in. Going from $827 a month to $1,187 a month. Deductible going up a $1k to $9,350. Max out of pocket also going up $1k to $11,000. Doctor co-pay of $40. Urgent Care co-pay $50. ER 50% coinsurance after deductible. That's all in network. Out of network is double, should it be needed.
Have to think about this. I'm really tempted to just go without now. I only go to the doctor once or twice a year. I pay out of pocket for Tirzepitide and can do without the Rosuvastatin (crestor) now. Really tired of spending over $10k a year and getting nothing out of it.
After years with Blue Cross I switched last year to Ambetter as my Blue Cross premium was going from $1200 to $1800 for a Silver plan and the Bronze plan was still going to be $1300 at BCBS. Ambetter was $827 for the same coverage with a Bronze plan. Didn't think it would jump this much so soon.
I'm guessing a Silver plan is probably over $2,000 a month for 2027.

Yes.....they do. Which is why I am very careful when at a customer's house these days....you NEVER know what is going to set someone off. Polite dialog is a thing of the past.....which is why I like my dog so much
