How does a V-Box work

I sent my less than 1 month old V-Box back to DMSI as it was not working correctly. There seems to be some confusion between the technician who is checking it out and myself regarding how it works. The way I think it works is the counts from the reed switch are stored in the V-Box in a certain position for a particular satellite. The receiver then tells the V-Box to go to a certain position for a given satellite. This guy at DMSI seems to think the counts are stored in the receiver. Anyone really knows how this thing works?

I have the same $20 actuator on my dish... the Pansat gets here tomorrow. something tells me I'm going to have satellite ribbon cable strung across the yard tomorrow night

I'll be sure to let you know if I have similar issues. Cascade seems to have had good luck with his.

I'll have a Pansat 3500, VBOX DP-710, $20 actuator, 5' Mesh.

You could verify if it's your reciever if the H to H motor 'can' retain the 1.2 positions.

Aside from what you suspect, it would almost have to be a problem with the reed switch / the actuator missing counts.

No, since I bought the v-box and actuator, I sold all my motors. I would think that if the actuator was missing counts that I would have problems on all sats...would this not be true?

Yeah I'd think so. Good point.

The way to check would be to see if the 'count' number is changing for the stored position. Of course there is probably no easy way to check this since the numbers fly by at 600 MPH.

There could be another possibility. The actuator may have some or to much play in it. I'm talking about between the actuator and the dish. There are two pivot points where this could happen. Either or both could cause a simular problem. This happened to me when I changed an H to H birdview mount that the birdview motor had gone bad to an actuator. My cheapo self wouldn't pay $200 bucks for a replacement motor for the birdview. I opted instead to get an actuator at a considerably cheaper cost. Apparently my welding was off a bit and when I go uphill with the actuator, I have no problems, but when I go downhill I can't hit any "sat" except the furtherest one, as in the last one, that's programmed in. I've tried and tried, but can't get it right. I've decided to get the birdview motor,which I have, but now I can't seem to find the other parts needed, that I removed to put the actuator on. These parts include a bracket, a couple of gears to go on the shaft of the birdview motor and a chain. I've actually found the chain. I need those gears, I wish I had a picture, I really don't know what all is missing. I hope they turn up, as I never throw anything away, they must be around here somewhere. Oh well.

Yes the receiver only store the Nº of the Position and the V Box store the counts from the reed switch.

Season 2 order already in hand:

'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1

I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

Here i am over a year later and just finished season 1. Not great but not as bad as I was expecting. Did not care for the barefoot captain stuff but overall ok. Actually looking forward to see what they did for season 2.

Yeah, the foot stuff was just nasty. I kept thinking of how dirty her feet would get traipsing around shoe-less. Funny, I love being shoe less at home and never wear shoes indoors in my home for long, but seeing her laying on all her furniture with her bare feet hanging out just kind of grossed me out.

There would still be dirt ,dust in the future I am sure. So walking around the station like she did she would get stuff on her feet. I am sure the robot vacuum is still going to miss stuff, with all those different alien species running around there.

Why do you think cleaning technology won't improve in the next few hundred years? HEPA filtration was invented as part of the Manhattan Project.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that.

Since it was already "paid" for, I spent the two hours of my time watching the John Cena action movie on Apple TV, "Matchbox The Movie" even though the reviews were brutal. It was better than I expected, so I didn't feel like I had wasted an afternoon watching it. But it felt like another "Reacher"/"Neghley"/"Mission: Impossible"/"Fast & Furious" crash and blow stuff up with lots of automatic gunfire mixed in movie featuring covert CIA operatives.

I don't think we'll get a follow-up movie from this. I expect Mattel will have other toy lines to exploit.

PISTONS and THUNDER are finally testing on the stream server. PISTONS is showing the Ion/Scripps Sports promo loop filler that their NHL and WNBA feeds have, THUNDER has a "You are watching Thunder+" slate

The Clippers still haven't officially announced their TV plans beyond 10 simulcasts on KTLA, but the NBA's FAQ for ClipperVision is now live. The CLIPPERS feed is currently showing a loop of their Hawaii preseason game.

The Heat still haven't announced their West Palm Beach or Fort Myers affiliates. Since WPLG is streaming the games for free via their app, I doubt we'll be seeing the return of WPLG on stream.

So far nothing testing for the Bucks, Magic, Hawks or Hornets.

West Palm Beach is getting it on WTCN-CD/43 MNT. Still nothing for Fort Myers

Also, the Thunder's deal for KSBI/52 OKC and KQCW/19 Tulsa will be via a special cable and DIRECTV only feed of those stations. OTA viewers and Dish customers will be limited to 10 games.

It's only available for streaming customers, they still haven't added that batch of CW stations to satellite.

Even if it was, satellite customers still can't stream their CW affiliates via the app, just the Big 4, select PBS stations and some independents (mainly the ones that have full season NHL/NBA rights)

WCWW/25 CW South Bend and WBKP/5 CW Marquette are now testing on the stream server. These are both already available on satellite.
