Friend of mine got tired of waiting for dish to come and install one so he bought one And i didn't ask where..Anyway he got the superdish already put together..He mounted it on his house already..He has about 20 feet of rg6 cable from the dish to the dp34 switch..Which cables go where? He tried hooking the 3 cables up to the input of dp34 switch well he either gets 110 and the other 2 show up as no connection or he gets 110 and 119 if he switches the cable around but he never gets all 3 sats 110,119, and 105
I assume there is a special order they have to go onto the switch..I tried looking at mine but all my wires r covered up..

It makes no difference where you hook up the lines. After you hook up the lines then you should run a check switch. it would be my guess he has not found 105 yet if he is only showing 119 and 110.
Stargazer
Not only is there a special order that the wires have to go on the switch but a multi-step process that needs to be done as follows.....

> Make sure the receiver(s) are DishPro. If not he will need to buy an adapter for each receiver or buy new receiver(s) that are DishPro. {P.S. The new DP+44 switch coming out this spring will have the capability of doing four slots and come with a built in DishPro Adapter.}

> Make sure there are no trees or objects blocking the dish.

> Make sure the mast is plumb. This is one of the most important parts to the install because it makes the numbers to set the dish at true (elevation and skew). Mast must be plumb on all sides to ensure the skew and elevation numbers will be true. This makes for a MUCH easier install.

> Next make sure he sets the skew first according to the section in the booklet. If you have the 105 SuperDish look at the 105 section in the back of the booklet, if you have the 121 SuperDish look at the 121 section in the back of the booklet. It will give you skew, elevation, and azimuth numbers. The skew is the four bolts where the reflector is attached to the arm. The elevation has a bolt that you tighten on each side where the top of the mast pushes up through. Once you set the skew do NOT adjust it again, only adjust the azimuth (rotating dish to the left and right) and the elevation (tilting the dish up and down slightly) to get a lock onto the signal. Elevation has numbers 10-60 on the side while Skew has numbers 30-150 at the top (showing the numbers from highest to lowest, 150 being on the left side and 40 on the right side, 90 being in the middle).

> Make sure you label your wires for 105/121, 110, 119 so you know what wire is which because it DOES matter.

> You will need to go to the signal strength screen, select the 119 satellite slot for the 105 SuperDish (110 satellite slot for the 121 SuperDish) and choose transponder 14. I know that one works. Some transponders will not display a signal because of spotbeams only sending down signals to certain areas of the country.

> Go outside to the dish and attach the 119 lnbf wire for the 105 SuperDish (110 lnbf wire for the 121 SuperDish) - which would be the outermost lnbf opposite from the 105/121 side - to port 1 of the DP-34 switch. Fine tune the signal moving the dish slowly left to right until you hit the signal. If you are unsuccessful then move the elevation up/down by one degree then try again. A pair of walkie talkies with VOX functionality makes this a LOT easier to where you can listen to the signal audio from the tv connected to the satellite receiver.

> Once you receive a signal from 119(SD105), 110(SD121) select check switch.

> You will now need to go back to the signal strength screen and select the 105 or 121 orbital slot (105 for the 105 SuperDish, 121 for the 121 SuperDish). The 105 SuperDish is plastic/fiberglass with a 2 2/8" diameter mount pole while the 121 SuperDish is metal with a 2" diameter mount pole. I know that transponders 4 and 7 work here for my area but other transponders work as well. Dish recommends you use transponders 2, 7, 18, or 23 for the 105 satellite slot or 15, 16, 20, or 21 for the 121 satellite slot.

> Now detach the wire from the lnb port 1 on the DP34. You will now need to attach the 105/121 wire to port 1, 110 to port 2, and 119 to port 3. Once the signal is found you will need to do another check switch and checkmark the SuperDish/129 box while doing this check switch. It should show All for 105/121, 110, 119 for the check switch summary after it is done. Now press view. You may notice that it is doing a check 0 of 5 or something similar to this. Let this run through. It may also update the program guide at this point or when you try to access the program guide the next time.

Do not forget to tighten down all the bolts after the signal has been peaked.
L
Thanks we finally got it...I went and home and turned on my receiver then went to check switch and found mine was setup like this port 1 119 sat port 2 105 sat and port 3 110 sat..We hooked is up the same way and everything worked fine..He now gets all 3 sats..

Well Stargazer i dont know how many Super Dishes you have installed but it looks like to me you have read the book on them..I would have to agree on most everything you said but i would use Transponder 11 on both 119/110. Personal preference on that one. But There are short cuts to ever job and most dealers would hook the cables up directly bypassing the DP34. I personally hook up to 119 find it then hook up 105 and peak it out. then i un-hook the calbe and hook all three leads up to DP34 in an order if you want and run a check switch. If you have a good meter ie birdog you dont have to do anything but find and lock on to 105/121 and hook all the leads to the DP34 and go inside and run check switch. But like i said if you have found 105/121

IT DOES NOT MATTER IN WHAT ORDER YOU HOOK UP THE LEADS GOING TO THE DP34 ON THE SUPER DISH AS LONG AS YOU DO A CHECK SWITCH AFTER YOU MOVE THEM. Try it on ur own change them on the DP34 and run a check switch and it will find all them it will change the order on the switch and work fine.

I hook mine up one way and another good installer hooks his up another way and they both work fine.
:D
Stargazer
I had difficulties hooking mine up the first time I tried to install a SuperDish which was at my house and when I followed the book everything started to come in as it should have. Ever since then I did the same thing because I knew it would work. I will have to remember that next time, I will just use a barrel connector and hook up 119 to the 119 lnbf (on SD105) bypassing the switch then hook up 105 to the barrel connector then connect them up after I am done. This will save me from connecting and disconnecting wires from the switch as the book had said.

Thanks for the tips, this will help shorten the install time. I knew there had to be a shortcut.

Well, the bag can't weigh that much, right? But by law food product packaging must display the actual net weight of the product, i.e., the contents of the container, so by any logic, if not law, a store's stated per-ounce cost should reflect that figure. But since there's not any law regulating shelf statements, a store can say whatever it wants without violating any rules. So I guess the answer is more consumer legislation. Or simply caveat emptor.

But a box can weigh more than an ounce..maybe 2...a can might weigh 5 ounces..a bag...not much

Well, according to the price per ounce on that first bag of coffee he mentions, that would mean the bag weighed over 6 ounces. That bag does NOT weigh 6 ounces. According to Google, an empty bag weighs half an ounce.

You need to weigh the actual bag...a deli bag weighs less than that but a thick coffee bag is gonna weigh around an ounce...an empty tin can has some weight

Products sold by the ounce, pound, etc, should always be priced for the product only. Only the shipping weight should include the packaging.

Unless the specific product or its packaging is known at the time of weighing, estimating the tare weight for a PoS system is a tall order.

I'm pretty sure that produce bags can't get any thinner. ;)

You certainly don't want to put unbagged produce on a belt, scale, or in a clerk's hands (gloved or not).

I would think that all the packaging would already be accounted for ... they weigh the container, subtract that from the scale, then add the product , so its weighing the Product only

Obviously you didn't read my post.....google says a coffee bag weighs half an ounce. But let's say you are correct and it DOES weigh a full ounce, that would still fall 5 ounces shy for Walmart's numbers to match.

I can't BELIEVE this is being such a difficult subject. The issue isn't the price....it's the advertised price per ounce. A lot of shoppers, myself included, use the price per ounce in determining which is the better value....with that number being inaccurate, it can trick someone into thinking that one product cost less per ounce than a competing product. Is this a crime?...above my pay grade. Is it dishonest? Yes.

You would be thinking wrong when it comes to goods that are sold by weight (meat, produce, nails). Those items typically go on the scale wrapped without an associated tare. The weight only excludes the sticker because it hasn't been printed yet.

Thats ridiculous ....

Thats not how Deli does it, I know your talking pre packaged.
They need to CHANGE that.
Jimbo
A pound of Coffee, does that include the package it's in ?

No, a pound of coffee refers strictly to the net weight of the coffee itself (16 ounces), not including the weight of the bag or packaging. [1, 2]
  • Net Weight: Food and coffee sold by weight are required by law to list the net weight on the label, which measures only the contents inside the package. [1, 2]
    • Packaging Weight: The foil bag, valve, and label add extra weight to the total item when you hold it, meaning the gross weight on a scale will be slightly more than 16 ounces.
    • Watch Out for Bag Sizes: Always check the label carefully, as many specialty roasters now sell 12-ounce (three-quarter pound) bags while keeping the price or visual impression similar to a full pound. [1, 2, 3]
meStevo
The larger discrepancies are likely from a data or sync issue. Digital tags don't cause the error, but they can spread one bad entry across a whole store or region instantly. The small cent differences are probably just rounding in the weight, the price data, or both.

I know HipKat said that they were working on conversions but we got the official news yesterday right from Dish that starting next month all DMA's will be on the western arc, and all customers will be assigned to that. That's gonna mean a lot of customers around here aren't gonna get Dish unless there are exceptions. Too many mountains and trees.

I hope these new "most powerful" satellites will mean that DISH can provide every channel that can be sourced in HD in HD. I do not like the fact that two of my favorite channels (Start and H&I) are SD. I was also very disappointed after installation that METV has to be streamed from my internet connection. Finally, I dropped the locals upon seeing that my local CW channel is in blurry letterboxed SD when it has been HD OTA for years.

This piece gets me - the fact that Dish has removed SD channels from satellite completely in the name of "HD upgrades". I pay for satellite TV, not streaming...I don't see why they couldn't leave the SD version of the channels on Satellite then put the HD streaming version like they have for other channels.

Yes, I considered D* as I knew some of my favorite channels had better PQ but too many require moving up to the "Choice" package and incurring the Regional Sports Fee.
I do not have METV or any of the Weigel owned channels here in El Paso.

Sometimes a thread gets so many posts in it that is can cause issues for the server so that why today we introduce The Song Name Game Part 3!

So let the game continue!

The last song was added by Bobby who posted...

One Meat Ball - Andrews Sisters

CONTINUE ON AND HAVE FUN! WELCOME HOME TO SATELLITEGUYS.US!

Here are the original rules for the game as posted by WebbyDude back in 2006. http://www.satelliteguys.us/threads/68645-Song-Name-Game

Just name a song title and the band who performed it. The next person does the same thing, but needs to list a song title or band name which includes a word from the previous entry. Pick songs from any genre.

Example:

Long Live Rock and Roll -- Rainbow

Rainbow in the Dark -- Dio

Another example:

Ride the Lightning -- Metallica

Lightning Strikes -- Ozzy Osbourne

Get it?

An additional note: we all know that song titles, sometimes, use profane words. Because this is a family friendly website it is advised that you clean up that title up a bit. This is accomplished by using something like sh!t instead of the real word. Thanks....

I went into the Tools menu and requested a Guide Update. I'll try looking at it after the update completes.

edit — I now have the 148-01 4KFox events for Saturday, but not anything for 148-02 or 148-03 which don't even show as available channels. I do have 148-04 4KUSA.

My Wife was recently in an antique store and saw a rotary desk phone and it had one of those sticker overlays that had a business listed with phone number under each number on the dial. She looked closer and it had my old Radio Shack listed under the 8...she bought it. Pretty cool keepsake. Back then I rented vhs movies as well so I had it listed as Radio Shack / Movie Gallery and then the phone number.

That is a misnomer. In the old days you subscribed to telephone service. That included the telephone line and one telephone. An extension cost $1 a month extra. So that $14,000 over 42 years was for the service not the leased telephone. There is no way they paid $28 a month for 42 years for a leased telephone.

Greenville-New Bern is $11.99 for MASN (Orioles) and Nationals
Raleigh is $11.99 for MASN and Nationals
Charlotte is $12.99 for BravesVision, MASN, Nationals and Reds

The fee in NC also includes the higher in state rate they have to pay for ACCN. Down in SC the fee is $15.99 as they are also a SEC state.
I'm not sure if they're doing it with those teams, but in some markets they also use the fee to cover the additional cost they have to pay for independents and MyNet stations that picked up full season NHL and NBA rights.

If you go to the TVPromise site, you'll likely be able to get a credit for not getting the Hurricanes and additional Hornets games that air on WITN-D2

Figure DTV that always says is the leader in sports would have come to an agreement by now.
Part of the hold out might be the packaging and price for outer areas like how the Thunder needs sports pack for other states. Hopefully they are also pushing for a guarantee from the teams that they would require whoever wins their local broadcasting rights in 2028 to negotiate with MVPDs. Commercial distribution rights are probably a factor too.

I'm guessing they got a deep discount for the Clippers based on how long it took them to officially announce ClipperVision and their KTLA simulcasts after they were basically handed a multi-year draft death penalty.

The Predators and Pistons channels are using feeds supplied by Scripps Sports

The Heat likely depends on whoever they sign for the Fort Myers DMA, as there's no point in paying a high price for the Heat just for that DMA when WPLG is streaming it for free on their app and website for viewers in the Miami DMA, and they already carry the West Palm Beach station.

I tried this with both the Hurricanes and Hornets since I'm in upstate SC, and wasn't offered any kind of credit by the site. It's not a huge deal to me as I can pick up WSOC/WAXN over the air at my location even though I'm outside the Charlotte market.

One thing these five teams have in common is that they all signed exclusive local streaming rights deals with DAZN, replacing their traditional regional sports networks.

I know the Spurs will have 22 games available OTA on KMYS-TV CW35 in the San Antonio market, but they'll still be available on DAZN as well. The CW35 broadcasts are an additional option, not an exclusive arrangement.

With channel 680 now available, we should be able to get all the Spurs home feeds on NBALP again! (as well as the other teams above of course)

In order to participate in any Cutting Edge testing, you must sign a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Attached are a .docx (Microsoft Word) and PDF version of the latest DirecTV NDA. I found it easiest to complete the .docx version then paste a photo or scan image of my signature, cropped closely to just the signature into it as a picture. Then set Word to wrap text around the picture so that the picture follows the text "Signature".

People who have better PDF tools than I do may prefer that version.

When you apply for any Cutting Edge testing, you will be told how to send the signed copy.

Any NDA you have signed before is still valid for the testing you have been and hopefull still are doing. The new NDA forms are ror new CE testers and new categories of CE testing. They have been placed here so that people who volunteer for any CE testing have access to them.

This was actually one of the more disturbing videos I've seen on this channel. IF this guy hadn't been driving a Tesla which has 360 degree cams, he would probably become a felon and had his life ruined.....all because of a lying cop. The other officers in this video didn't impress me too much either, their whole mentality was how can we nail this guy.
This is a perfect example of why I'm always a bit nervous when I get below Perry, FL. There is a huge difference between north and south Florida and everyone who lives here knows this.

Central is not any better, Polk County still does not have body cams.
