Has anyone had the nightmare installation issues that I have experienced? Does anyone know how to get the Dish Network management to take me seriously??
Since I switched to Dish Network from DirecTV last March, I have had five installers (including the original one) try to get the installation part correct so that I receive a constant signal on both LNB's and both receivers. The DVR in the bedroom has consistently suffered signal drop-out. They finally (last month) installed a new cable run and grounded the dish and this seems to have resolved that issue.
In the meantime, they replaced my first DVR (which I believe worked just fine) because they would not run a new cable and the signal continued to drop out. -- Then they replaced the second DVR because the switch appeared to have failed -- Then they replaced the third DVR because the channel 2 record function failed to work...I could set a timer, but the recorder would not turn on. (This was a brand new unit from the factory). DVR number FOUR just arrived last week and has the same problem with the channel two recorder as the previous one did. By the way, the first two DVR's recorded just fine all the time (except when there was no signal to record).
Today, some technical service person came to the house and tried to tell my wife that unless I had a TV2 display connected to the DVR, the TV2 recorder would not work. (I have serious concerns about the technical capabilities of both the installers and the phone support personnel!) This is a totally ludicrous statement to anyone with any knowledge of electronics -- besides, I have never had two displays connected and as long as I am in the DUAL TV mode, both recorders have worked in the past. When I called about the third recorder, the lady on the phone said Dish Network was having problems with the recorders in all the DVR's they were receiving. Does anyone know if this is a fact??
By the way, there is a fine gentleman by the name of Ryan who is a customer service Manager and seems to be one of only three competent people that I have talked to at Dish. The other two were what they call advanced technicians. (Not the one who first answers the phone.)

I set up a music server for my brother a few years ago. It's basically a small headless computer but it needs to have a DHCP IP address reserved for it in the router settings. This was easy to do in his DSL router. He's switching to Starlink now and I was wondering if these setting are easily accessible in the Starlink router. I'm pretty sure he will be getting the latest V5 router.

If you can restrict the DHCP address space to assign addresses to one end of the subnet (i.e. x.x.x.50+), you can manually assign the IP address on pretty much any operating system. This is a default behavior on several popular routers. As the Router Mini only supports 235 devices, I expect that's already done.

Love this guy's channel. Looks like Walmart has thrown in the towel when it comes to conventional car batteries.
I bought a new AGM battery from Walmart about a year ago, it is already needing replacing. I thought about just buying a regular battery but from what I've read, that might not be a smart move. Might check my Forscan program and see if I can change the battery type from AGM.

Season 2 order already in hand:
'Star Trek: Starfleet Academy' Renewed for Season 2, Tatiana Maslany to Guest Star in Season 1
I've not been optimistic about this show based on what I've read so far. Seems to be aimed at a younger audience. Interesting though that Tatiana Maslany will have some sort of role.

I don't know, but I still don't like her walking through the station or the academy with out her shoes. It looks unprofessional and very "hippy like" for someone of her status and I personally don't get off to feet, so there is that.

Just finished S2. Watching Gary Oldman as deshvilved, dejected MI-6 agent, Jackson Lamb, is one of the best things streaming right now. Already 2 more seasons in the works. HIGHLY recommended. And yes, Mick Jagger sings the theme.

Now right up front....this is NOT intended to devolve into a "pot is good" vs "pot is bad" thread. The whole point is to make you aware of a potential problem that a person can develop when they start smoking pot at a young age. Not that they WILL, but CAN. Kinda like getting lung cancer from smoking cigs....some do, some don't. The purpose of posting this news story is to keep anyone from paying an outrageous emergency room bill......knowledge is power.
While this may not affect you, you might run into someone who is experiencing these symptoms and can share the info. Fortunately, it looks like stopping smoking is the cure and isn't a permanent condition.

Didn't see a thread like this so I figured why not start one. This is about natural supplements. If you aren't into supplements, fine, but please let those of us who do want to discuss this discuss it.
The first one I wanted to mention has been a real life changer. I'm 62 and still do all of my own install work at my business....also do all the yard work at the house. A few years ago I started noticing that I was losing my range of movement, it was even getting hard to bend over and lace up my boots. Almost got stuck in an attic because I couldn't get turned around once the work was done. Didn't think much of it and figured with age comes stiffness that was only going to get worse as time went on.
It was then that I stumbled across a video which was discussing rotator cuff tears and why they were to prevalent these days. Turns out, the culprit is a simple deficiency in MANGANESE which is key in keeping your tendons flexible. Most anti-biotics strip your body of any manganese it might have had which is why certain anti-biotics, especially those in the Cipro family. I actually knew a man who had two tendons tear while on that stuff.
Went to Amazon and ordered some manganese. Now it took a while, it wasn't instant, but gradually I have regained all of my flexibility. I can bend over and touch my toes while standing with no pain and putting on my boots is no longer a chore.
Pretty cheap too. The bottle I ordered was a 200 ct for under $13. They said to take double the normal dose for the first month because most people are severely lacking, then go to one a day.
