I have a legacy quad LNB on my Dish. Dish is pointed correctly(for 5 years now) and signal strength is great. I want to swap it out for a DPP TWIN LNB. Being a homeowner with no experience with this...I was wondering if the lnb was easy to swap out and if that after swapping out the lnb....does the dish need to be repositioned to get satellite signal?

Nope. No repoint needed if you have a good signal. Just a matter of unscrewing the two screws at the end of the bracket, swapping LNB's (and eventually placing your DPP44 switch between said LNB and receivers), and doing an updated checkswitch to allow the receivers a good communication with the LNB

Why switch to a DPP Twin if you are adding a DPP-44. The regular DP Twin will feed it the same as the DPP Twin. Just wasting a DPP if you are adding in a DPP-44.

OP is replacing a legacy lnb, DPP switches will not work with legacy lnb's. What OP wants to do makes perfect sense.

The *only* thing I can think of is that the OP has already purchased a DPP Twin. Price-wise, there isn't much of a difference between a DPP and DP Twin
T
The DPP's have a far greater failure rate than a DP twin. It makes no sense to use a DPP and then use a DP44. Even if you purchased a DPP, take it to a local dealer and work out an exchange for a DP-twin or quad. A DPP has value to a dealer, wereas most of us have boxes of twins laying around.

If you can run two cables to your 622 (or 625), you can use your existing legacy quad.

I hope the new owners don't ruin the software/devices. I don't love the ads, but I have two TVs that don't really play nice with anything other than Roku.

I don't. I have a Roku connected to it. You don't need to ever connect it to the internet, even for initial setup.

??? I'm confused. FireTV and Roku are competing devices. They both do the same thing in slightly different ways. Why do you have them connected together? I have an Apple TV, a Roku, and a Firestick. They each connect to my Denon AVR via HDMI. I useeach of them to watch apps. Some apps work better depending on the device.

It was a cheap TV on sale. I hate the Android/Fire interface so I just connected my Roku to it. That's why I would prefer to just buy "dumb TV's" and use my own streamer.

Soooooo you are bragging about not connecting your tv to the internet while at the same time using a roku....why not just buy a regular tv?

Ah, now I understand. I have something like that in my bedroom. It has a Roku TV and I have a Joey plugged into it. When Apple gets around to selling a new Apple TV I will rotate my present 3 ATVs and move my 1st generation to that bedroom.

I use a Firestick connected to my Roku/ONN 55" TV that Walmart had on sale for $199 at the time. It was quicker to just plug in the already set up Firestick than it was to set up the TV with my various apps. Then when I did take time to check out the Roku set up, I decided I liked the Firestick better anyway, so I set the TV to automatically startup with the Firestick active.

Exactly. A smart TV is now a "regular" TV.

Actually, I find a lot of these Individual Channels to be quite interesting ...

The go into how the songs were made and why lots of time and give you history of what was happening.

Scott, I Think I heard last week that they are Extending the Hotel California's time frame.

It ended on Friday. But it was really good. And I really liked hearing some of the live concerts. The Eagles was a great band. Wish I could go see them at the Sphere.

With the 1st Quarter Report just released, Dish lost another 180,000, now at 4.84 Million.

Sling now at 1.79 million subscribers, down approximately 190,000.

For comparison, YouTube TV now has about double the subscribers of Dish and Sling combined.

I think the way we will see things go (my crystal ball) is Dish will buy DIRECTV and then Elon will buy Dish.

Why would Elon want DISH? Really curious on that one and the answer. Is Charlie talking retirement and wants out?

Lots of satellite spectrum, many national data that will be working for a long long time, lots of technology and patients that Dish owns etc.

If you watch closely Dish is working to accumulate new satellite technologies which would be perfect in Elons pocket and they are able to buy them without much scrutiny like they would probably have if Elon purchased them.

Lots of money is already being thrown at Dish by Elon. What money is he throwing at DIRECTV?
T
The question isn't who would want (DiSH), but who would want it for what price. It still own satellites and orbital assignments, along with remaining auction-purchased spectrum and a nascent mobile service. Add DTV to that and it's quite a lot. DBS service could be condensed to a single platform as it dwindles off in sub #s

And again, how does that show he wants Dish TV?

How would that be good for Dish TV?

For the spectrum, not for the Television part of Echostar.

he can re purpose the sats in space plus he could do that with the ground stations. elon would be buying infrastructure. charlie is working on satellite to phone as well. dtv don't have anymore sats in there fleet whatever's left that's it. dish just launched another sat so something's up.

Because he keeps investing in them.

Dish was almost bankrupt but now is smooth sailing due to Elon money.

Keep watching. :)

Hope they wrap the series up in a nice neat bow.
This could extend to the whole franchise of Trek serials.

If the sets are already gone that would indicate the rumored Kirk series won't be happening.

Nope. One more season of Starfleet academy and season 4 and 5 of strange new worlds then that's it.

I'm sure something will come along eventually. Too valuable a property not to do something. I'm hoping for some new creative blood.

I read somewhere recently that Andy Weir (of The Martian fame) submitted a series proposal to Paramount and they showed no interest.

The only one that has come out of this is Section 31on Paramount+. I heard they may make a series with the Kirk character from Strange New Worlds.
long_time_DNC
Well, that would be something... Otherwise, the franchise grinds to a halt again. And Section 31 wasn't something I'd really think of as Trek.
