I found this in the Tech. Portal. It looks like there will be changes to the Point Dish Signal meter and that receivers will lose signal at 10 pts or less and signal above 17 pts will be enough to provide signal. By adjusting this meter, there will loss as much as 40 pts. from the current signal readings.

Also a new yellow status will be added to the Sys Info screen. It will show when the signal is marginal (11 to 17 pts).

For the Power Point file (too big to attach):

A tech who just left here after putting a "low noise" LNB up in-place of the standard one for 129 showed me the tech sheet on this signal strength change and yes, while it will freak some of us out, at least initially, in the long-term, it's an improvement because signal strength readings will be uniform across all the receivers, which will make installs and problem diagnosis faster/easier...but I agree, it'll take some time getting used to the adjusted readings.

The new LNB increased my average signal strength on 129 by 8-15 points (average) across all the TPs and the 30-point swing, while it still happens, doesn't cause signal lock to be lost. Now, whether this resolves the loss-of-signal issue, that remains to be seen, but if not, then we'll add a 24" dish out there (much as I dislike the idea of becoming something that looks like an uplink center) and resolve the problem permanently, assuming the LNB doesn't resolve it.

We'll see... :)

"Low noise" LNB? Have not seen that. Was it a replacement on a D500 or 1000.2?

On a D1000. Turned out not to resolve the problem. :( So, he put that LNB on a 24" dish and now I have two dishes, but my 129 HD issue is resolved! :) :D Watched several programs on several channels and no loss-of-signal!! If there were a "happy feet" smilie, I'd use it. :)

Was that LNB a Dish Network product ?

PS I was using a Dish Network 24-inch dish for 129, but I was still a little concerned about the weakest HD transponders (sometimes dipping below 60), so I moved the DishPro LNB to a 30-inch FTA dish that I happened to have (and have not been using, because I'm not interested in the channels on 123w). I just tied the LNB to the LNB holder and it works fine - I get peaks of 100 out of 125 on transponider 31 - about 15 points better than the 24-inch. Winegard (who makes the Dish Network dishes) has a DS-2077 that is a 30-inch dish with the D-tube holder for a Dish LNB, which can be had for under $50.

The tech said that the LNB manufacturer for E* sometimes find what they consider to be "defective" LNBs because of their lower signal to noise ratio (go figure?) and that these LNBs work better by boosting the signal from 129 more and aren't as sensitive the flucuations in the signal from 129. With the addition of the 24" dish, I'm getting numbers from 129 that I've never seen before. TP 31 is peaking at 86 on the top side of the cycle, and only getting as low as 63 on the bottom end of the cycle...with no loss of signal occurring anymore. I watched several hours of programming on various channels coming off 129 with no loss of signal. I haven't been able to do that since they re-pointed 129 almost a year ago, so I'm quite pleased with the change. I wouldn't mind getting 100 on TP 31, but 86 is satisfactory, especially here in the NW, where getting a decent signal from 129 is very difficult anyway.

umm i just got done this new point dish screen. I AM STILL CONFUSE. why fix it if its not broken.

If I get a chance, I'll post that info. It's a very hectic week this week.

But.....if you like Tulsa King....looks like you would probably like this as well. I don't mind spin-offs as long as they don't involve a sassy niece who moves from the big city

I thought I would come here and find lots of complaints about the update to the dish anywhere mobile app, but am not seeing any. It used to look just like the desktop webpage. Now you can no longer filter by sports channels or movie channels. Plus that they made it look like a big button telephone and you see fewer channels in the screen which requires more scrolling. Yes I realize you can look at sports then select which sport you want to look at, I just liked being able to see all sporting events in the guide with all other channels being filtered out. Am I alone in the wilderness on this?

I'm not a big fan of the new layout, especially on my Apple TV. It used to look like the old Guide layout on the Hopper 3, but they changed parts of that, too.

No. Bring in someone new.🤔 Tony is not serious enough for me. Parker is too close to the team and Tim is too young to take over IMO.

I don't think Tim and Tony are that far apart in Age ...

Remember what Tony said to Tim when they first got back together ...
Tony said: I am the New Tony, Tim .... (something to that effect)

Tony has changed, he's been running his Security Business ... I'm sure he has grown up.

Give it time ... your judging the New Tony from the old Tony.

It sounds like Tim won't be around the Team much longer either.

Might be worth a watch when it comes out. Looks like typical big corp against the little guy movie BUT....there is a reason this plot type is so oft repeated, it draws audiences.

If you're going try to read / listen to the book (can't recommend the audio book enough) before this comes out, I'd avoid trailers.

Trailer below, spoiling it to make sure you read the above bold message first. The book / audio book are fantastic. Go into this blind if you can IMO!

Kind of disappointed at how much they show. A lot still to see, but man, some good reveals in the book that are just served up here.

I've seen it twice. Can't recommend the audio book enough, Ray Porter's performance is amazing and there's so much more in the book than the movie.

Forgot to comment. I did watch when it first came out on MGM. I enjoyed it a lot. I think reading the book made it easier to watch. Several friends commented it was a little hard to follow.

I agree. That can go for pretty much any book vs movie. Back when I was single I would read any Stephen King or John Grisham book I could get my hands on. When you read a book you make up the scenes and characters in your mind.....the movie version always disappoints.

A big win for the Patriots, and they are now 3-2.

Browns lose a close one with... The Jets. That is a classic Browns loss (granted, any loss is a classic one it seems). 49'ers, Vikings, and Chiefs remain undefeated. The AFC north have a three way tie at 3-2 for second place.

I had quit watching this show years ago because I ended up more annoyed than entertained. Well......I'm STILL more annoyed than entertained. I DO find it interesting to see how things work behind the scenes at many businesses. What annoys me is how utterly out of touch CEOs are with the companies they run. At the end of almost every episode the head of the company is amazed at how hard the employees have to work and many times have to work around impossible guidelines set forth from headquarters.

I found this one interesting because the new CEO had big plans for this company, Muscle Maker Grill, and it looked like the stores were all pretty busy. Recent history hasn't been good to this company however. I bet the covid lockdowns were the real killer.
